My heart goes out to Martin's family, as it is truly devastating that this had to occur to their child, and to the family. Discrimination comes in many forms, and is still a pervasive element in our justice system that this case will hopefully shed light on, and fight back at.
That being said, the closing statement of jmeyersd is well written, and I have to agree with it quite fully. Based on the information currently known to the public, it seems that a vast conclusion regarding the case has been drawn that could very well be way off the mark.
It's dangerous for a society to get caught up in any form of mass hysteria, egged on (and essentially started) by the media, as it can often times result in the equivalent of a lynch mob (racial connotations disassociated) being directed at an innocent individual. This is not to say that Zimmerman is innocent, as the fragments of information we know (and that continue to come out) suggest he is not. But until the current professional investigation is completed, we should all remember the phrase "innocent until proven guilty".
