The Absolute Truth
No, this is not a discussion on absolutes. It is an experiment. I wnt to play a diplomacy game in which all players must tell the truth, and nothing but the truth, to their fellow diplomats. I think it could make for a very interesting game. Lies by omission would be acceptable, and trying to mislead someone without lying is certainly encouraged. Would anyone else be interested in such a game?

The Democratic-controlled Senate has not produced a budget in more than 930 days.
This makes is hard for Obama to run with any credibility at all against a "do nothing Congress" when his own party hasn't done even its most basic job in the Senate for over two years.

OK, I'll Give Mr. Gingrich Credit Where Credit Is Due...
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/newt-gingrich-prepared-heat-immigration-043951171.html
I DO think that's one of the more reasonable positions taken on immigration, especially by a GOP Candidate...never been a fan of Newt's, but he's at least now said one thing I genuinely agree with in these debates...that's one more than the rest of the GOP field...your take?
obiwanobiwan (248 D)

That being said, if it's Gingrich vs. Obama, either Gingrich would have to do a LOT that I agree with, or else Obama would have to completely bottom out as standing for any ideas I agree with whatsoever, and maybe kick a puppy or something, before I'd consider voting for Newt over Obama...

But that IS the first time I've actually said "OK, that sounds like something I might, possibly agree with" in the course of these GOP debates, so kudos to Newt there.

*Sigh* - I think it's a sad commentary on American Politics that I can look at that and see someone saying something not completely reprehensible in every way and think "Well it's better than any other Republican's position on the issue." Seriously. We've (we in this case meaning liberals) gotten so used to all the Republicans being just so completely awful all the time, that when one of them breaks rank and says something reasonable we think "Good on you. How vary courageous of you not to be as completely indefensible as you normally would."

+1 Mafialligator...

Though to be fair, while I do lean liberal on social policy, I would say both parties have their problems...

Newt's "Wow...that wasn't entirely disgusting and/or racist and somewhat reasonable" take is, sadly, as rare as the times I can point to Obama nowadays and say "Now THERE'S the young, energetic force I pulled so hard for in '08...look at him sell his message!"

We're in a pretty shallow time in American politics...the richness of the political stables from the 1960s-90s seems to have run dry...

What I find terrible for politics is that even in the Information Age, 50% of people can not name a single Republican nominee.

It's rather startling. This article talks about how most of them are registered Democrats, so why would they follow the Republicans at all? That's terrible for our country, and I was opposed to the Electoral College until I saw this survey.

http://hotair.com/archives/2011/10/07/poll-nearly-half-of-americans-cant-name-a-single-gop-presidential-candidate/
Richness of the political stables of 60s-90s? WTF are you talking about. The era that produced Nixon, Ford, Carter and Bush Sr. and yes that conservative construction Reagan was a golden age?
Huntsman has some genuinely good ideas, he would be the only republican i might consider voting for.

i guess his stance on abortion is a deal breaker though, pity.
Mafialligator (239 D)

@Adam Bomb, the fact is, for registered democrats it kinda doesn't matter who the field is right now, they're not voting for the Republican nominee. Once the election rolls around most people will know who the nominee is. Fact is, every election cycle, every 3 years there's always some newspaper article saying like "Oh 50% of people can't name any candidates!" "33 % of people don't know what their own district is!" "67% of people don't know which party each candidate belongs to!" "25% of people don't know what a president is!"
The fact is, I'm no longer worried about those sorts of "the sky is falling" polling results. People are not more stupid or uninterested than they ever have been before.
At any rate, I have to say that result, if genuinely true, speaks more to a serious problem with the Republican candidates, rather than the Democratic voters.
Besides, it actually doesn't matter to them, registered Democrats can't vote in Republican primaries. When it comes to the actual election, I guarantee you, most of those people will know who the Republican nominee is.

Errr i realize I repeated the thing about not being able to vote, sorry.
Also the election cycle is every 4 years, not 3 years. That was a typo.

WorldDip map
Hello all

Haven't played here before. Was wondering if there was a different style map for the world game. Finding it difficult to read country/province names in the darker spaces and can't read in the dark blue FA spaces at all.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

How do you find a bloody password?
As I understand it password protected games are typically posted in the forum. You see the game and then go look in the forum for the post with the password but without a search function how do you find it?

Question for Tettleton's Chew
Seeing as you continuously start threads about how the left is continuously wrong and flawed forever, explain the following question to me. Why did this financial meltdown the world is currently experiencing come under a right wing president of the United States. The housing markets were obliterated, the debt of the United States and Europe went through the roof, and the stock markets still have not recovered all their gains.

Really? ...Super Mario wears a racoon suit--that we all know he's worn before, if you're a child of the 80s or 90s--with magical flying powers...and that=mistreatment towards real racoons? ...These people have NOTHING better to do? Mama mia...

To Mute or To Unmute Dip33, that is the question!
Yes, this is yet another poll surrounding the Dip33 phenomenon. I've had him muted for a while now, but it looks as though I might be missing out. Should I keep him muted or unmute the kid? Let me know in this latest "+1 Webdip Poll"
