Ron Paul 2012!
come on, the guy's just a total boss. get the troops out of afghanistan, iraq...hell, everywhere! germany, south korea...etc. abolish the minimum wage, federal income tax, and basically every department except defense, state, and justice (he'd probably keep veteran affairs and treasury, not sure about those two), legalize marijuana, free trade, balanced budget, no draft, states' rights, and END THE FED. Liberty/Revolution!

Hillary 2016, Anyone?
There was a time where I REALLY loathed Hillary Clinton, but the job she's done as Secretary of State...she's EASILY been the most effectual person in the Obama administration...and hey, I liked the 1990s, and while I didn't like him as a kid, as an adult, I do appreciate Bill...

Would anyone else here consider voting for her in 2016 (or even make her the favorite?)

Italy/Turkish Alliance.

Why didn't this work.
Scmoo472 (1933 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
My opinion is that Italy tried to impose that Budapest was better to him, and that Black Sea + Greece were the only fleets I could have to defend myself and that I had to move it to Aegean, leave East Med open, and not have the convoy to Sevastopol open.
But what are the communities thoughts?
Invictus (240 D)

It only came close because Russia was outstandingly stupid.
Scmoo472 (1933 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
How so? Aside from the CD?
Actually, I would say half of that board was outstandingly stupid. Why can't I find those games and get a few solos to boost my record? lol
Nelhybel (280 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
An outsider here cannot make an informed decision without seeing the chat. I will try to present my side of the story.

Turkey was using aggressive/foul language in the private chat with me. While I of course have no problem with this, it naturally makes me suspicious - my past experiences have let me to believe people who act like that are just trying take advantage of naivety to launch their solo.

In return, I was 100% honest with Turkey, informing him of all my moves ahead of time, and encouraging him to check my track-record of going out of my way to save even dying allies. Ask President Eden: I stick to my word to a painful extent, which often times leads to my downfall.

Of course, Turkey continued to try aggressive diplomacy with me, as well as France and Germany, and finally agreed to a draw when he realized that we would not budge to his whim.
King Atom (100 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
Germany was a complete loser in that game. He broke our alliance when we could have had an easy three way Draw.I was prepared to convoy to the Balics, but someone had to ruin it all...
Draws should never be the intended outcome of a game.

And I was really surprised nobody was able to diplom their way out of a stab, that's what I meant by outstandingly stupid.

And KA, Italy was being a roadblock for turkey, so you could've taken out Germany and soloed no problem had you sneaked in armies via Pie and Tyrolia

Fine, here is my side.
Russia told me that Italy was blurbing about me stabbing. Which, wouldn't have come from Russia without purpose, because I did screw up that move to Constantinople with my fleet. And I knew for a fact that he instantly saw the chance to get a deal with Russia, for that was the only explanation for that fleet build, but when Russia wouldn't budge on it, he decided against that and tried to strike a deal with me. Upon telling him that he was talking about me to Russia and almost foiling my stab that I told him about. He told me to not accuse him of something that wasn't true. But here is the thing. There was absolutely no coordination between Italy and I, so where would Russia have gained the idea from. I told everyone that I screwed over my move, and I did. As I said in game, I don't normally open like I did to the Aegean. Normally I have fleet on Bulgaria SC, so I usually build my fleet in Con, and army in Smyrna as to keep Italy unaware of my move, but with my alliance to Italy, I decided to switch the move, but I entered orders as if I did the T/R instead of T/I. Upon making the stab, I asked Italy for support to Budapest, because if you just look at the game board, he then took it for himself, which would give him a double support to Serbia, which means I couldn't afford to actually move north. Then, he accuses me of wanting to stab for asking for Budapest, which in all of my times using the I/T (which happens quite often) Turkey should always get it, so that they don't become bottled up in the south with armies, as they don't normally need fleets. Then. THEN he told me that I could not build any more fleets, and that I should move black Sea into the Aegean. Which would the leave. East Med open. AND tear open my convoy from Ankara-Sevastapol.
Nelhybel (280 D)

I was also expecting a solo from France after I tried that shot at Spain. However, in your words, I diplomed my way out of that stab. Turkey, rather than acting so aggressive, should have been using sympathetic language to get Germany, or more likely France, to attack me.
Scmoo472 (1933 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
And the fact that I have 2-way drawn multiple PPSC matches, because I don't care about winning them. And you seemed to think that I was going to go "balls to the wall" for the solo. Its a PPSC match, who cares. But that isn't the point of this thread. I had no intention of a stab until you decided to "defend" with the absolute perfect position to stab.
Scmoo472 (1933 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
You didn't diplomatically ensure anything. Germany and France were fighting each other, so obviously they weren't going to just stop and come after you. However, the fact that you said you were going to attack France and you had 1 fleet there, meant you weren't dipomacizing with him, you were just free balling it hoping you could get a center so you could occupy Galicia and stab me, as I was trying to do to you, because I am trying to raise my GR, and 4-way draws are crappy. And you enforced one with your over defensive game play.
Nelhybel (280 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
Again, all your moves were compounded with your aggressive language that managed to more or less keep Germany/France/me united against you, though we began to waver towards the end.

You try to pose that I would lie about speaking with Russia, when he could have easily made up our supposed communication when he realized he was in a downward spiral? I don't challenge you about your "accidental" move in stabbing Russia, because I believe you - it makes sense. Have the decency to believe me also, as I wouldn't so fervently defend something after the game is over.

Additionally, the moves between us at the end speak for themselves. You continued to build fleets in at attempt to have a 1 fleet lead over me. You tried to take Galicia in order to encircle me (thank you Germany for the warning). Meanwhile, I support holded myself repeatedly, and set up additional defense.
Nelhybel (280 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
I enforced no such draw - nor ever resorted to foul language like you did incessantly the whole game. Convincing France not to attack me, after I did try a cheap shot at Spain, is effective diplomacy - no denying that. How on Earth could I have ever gone into Galicia with my single unit bordering it?

However thank you for finally admitting you were planning a stab - my suspicions were correct.
Scmoo472 (1933 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
And again. You made the first move for the "stab" that both of us tried/attempted/set up for/showed signs of. I had to counter it, and you tried to tell me what I couldn't build. I mean, had you said "yes, you can build 1 fleet for Aegean" Then I would have obviously believed you, but you decided that I wasn't aloud to do my convoy. And by then I just decided that if your going to occupy ALL of my border, I would do the same to you, and I would make sure you would get no where. (And I knew Germany wasn't going to help me fight you. That last move was just to see if Russia would go for Vienna and you would try to block it. The convoy to Rumania was going to be moving to Ukraine after so I could take Warsaw
Scmoo472 (1933 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
Face this realistic truth. We were both going to stab each other if one moved away at the end. BUT. But before that I had no intentions of it until you made that army move into Albania, and that you took Budapest, which I would have gladly given or Greece, because Budapest is key for me getting into Germany. But you denied me of that.
Nelhybel (280 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
Now you're just making up nonsense to support your story. I asked you not to build any more fleets since we both had two in the region - you instead retorted that you didn't trust me and needed more fleets. Then, in an attempt to continue to ensure diplomacy, I supported YOUR moves into your defensive position - meanwhile you geared up for your Northern stab via Galicia.
Nelhybel (280 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
"We were both going to stab each other if one moved away at the end."
False. I was never going to stab you. My record speaks for itself.

You keep complaining about Budapest, yet as I recall you had a two SC lead at that point, in addition to accusing me of turning on you by informing Russia (also false) and using other push-diplomatic tactics. And yet you expected me to believe you?
Scmoo472 (1933 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
I didn't trust you because you told me that I had that fleet in the Black Sea and that if I wanted to defend against your defense, I should move it out. When any player who has played the I/T knows that that convoy to Sev is absolutely essential in keeping the flow of troops going. You tried to break that, and that if I went against it, you would take it as a stab, but I had no choice but to build a fleet.
Scmoo472 (1933 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
No one care about your record. If you didn't stab, and you knew I would, how would you have expected to hold me off if I took Warsaw and then pushed down on you? You don't think that me continuing North, and leaving you alone wasn't proof enough? You forced me to defend against a stab that wasn't there, and you were defending against a stab that wasn't there until I thought you were going to stab me, and the easiest way to avoid a stab, is to stab first.
Scmoo472 (1933 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
Autumn, 1903: I am willing to agree to that. My fleets in their current positions will hold so as to ensure no fighting between us. All further fleets of mine will go West not East, and I trust you will build no further fleets.

Again, I want to reiterate sincerely that I did not forewarn Russia of your attack.
08:42 PM Autumn, 1903: Realistically. I am rather forced to build another one, unless you are willing to move one of those you have back. Because you have 2. I have 1.
08:43 PM Spring, 1904: You have two, I have two. move your black sea to Aegean if you want, but any more fleets will give me cause of concern.
08:44 PM Spring, 1904: As long as one of yours stays in the Black Sea, I will stay still
There is the exact messages.
Nelhybel (280 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
Then I don't understand how you have a high score when you are demonstrating a lack of an ability to trust you comrades. Sure, my record counts for nothing.

Good game, but I see no point in this argument. You will continue to accuse me of a stab that was never there, while I will continue to supply evidence of your stab, meanwhile you admit to it. Your shot at Galicia speaks for itself.

Again good game. I don't deny you played it very well, much better than me seeing as how vulnerable I was.
Scmoo472 (1933 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
Oh, I am not denying my stab after you displayed your defensive moves. I was all wanting to do it then. But before that I was actually wanting to work with you. The reason I have a high score is because normally my allies don't go super defensive because I ask for 1 SC because it is vital to my positioning in the world.....
Nelhybel (280 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC
Thank you for supplying a quote that proves my point that you gave me cause for concern, meanwhile you outright telling me that you don't trust me (a fine way to treat an ally!).
Scmoo472 (1933 D)
23 Sep 11 UTC

I'm not judging anything or anyone and I just read the first two or three comments by the little girls that are fighting over this, but I have to say one thing:

Foul language, aggressive diplomacy: they take the fun out of the game.

That's what it is about. Even if you present a brilliant, even flawless plan but you try to force it on someone it's no bueno. (Because who says you don't present another even more brilliant flawless plan to someone else? Diplomacy is all about luv.

Actually, it is a tactic that works on this game. But I am not going to stand for someone defending against something that wasn't there. I was nice up until Russia sent me that message. Because obviously they were talking about cooperation against Austria.
"Then I don't understand how you have a high score when you are demonstrating a lack of an ability to trust you comrades."

Not trusting your comrades is how you win this game...

Carry a grudge or friendship
I wanna know, would you or have you carried a grudge from one game to another? Like you want to destroy this particular player because he betrayed you in a previous game?
Likewise, have you experienced carrying a friendship or alliance from one game to the next, like you'd send a message to a player saying "wanna be friends again :-)" and other player replied "sure, worked so well last time..."

A pity it turned out as it did.

It was poised interestingly, although I suspect it was mostly "Let's kill the non-voting people". The I/R/T scramble was fun. Given Germany's latest push into Venice, I feel Russia would have come out on top of Turkey unless Germany built armies and sent them east (unlikely)
