Kestas,
"Don't think that because I disagree with calling Israels policy towards Palestinians a success that means I'm making some comment about the legitimacy of Israel."
I wasn't suggesting anything of the kind. I was responding to "no matter how you look at it morally it's clear that their way of dealing with the Palestinians has failed completely "
'No matter how you look at it'. I was providing you with a way to look at it that Israel's treatment of Palestinians was a success. I wasn't commenting on right and wrong, just that absolute you threw out there. Israel had (has?) a very good chance of being annihilated by their enemies (maybe not just the Palestinians, but their Arab neighbors, which include the Palestinians), so the fact that they didn't can certainly be seen as some form of success. China doesn't face that problem with Tibet. If Tibet were made independent, I think that would probably be the end of the story. If the West Bank were suddenly turned into a state, I don't think that would bring peace, do you?
"If being fired at by rockets regularly is the end result of a successful policy I don't want to see an unsuccessful one "
Compared to what alternative? Unfortunately, yes, if Israel has 'x' dead a year due to terrorist attacks, that IS considered a success.
And Puddle, dumb question for you - what percent of the Israeli army do you think uses AK47s? (I'm surprised no one asked this earlier).
