The Automated Revolution
So the other day I came upon this video by CGP Grey about automation and the future of humanity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Pq-S557XQU
So, how do you feel about the increasing automation in our world? Relieved? Terrified? Unsure? And what is humanity to do about it?

Hi. My name is: Noob.
I'm new to both Diplomacy and webDiplomacy, so I'm having a hard time figuring out the support-hold and support-move system. I have a rough understanding of how it works just based off the tutorials I've been watching online on the game, and reading through the basic rules, but I CANNOT figure out how to order units to support-hold and support-move, which order I need to command the units in order for the support command to be available and such. more>

Important Question
I understand that I will lose the points, but how do I withdraw from a game. I have two going and I accidently signed up for the game Diplomacy20 with first moves to be submitted tonight. I am already involved in the games Drawn Out and August Rumble, but I don't want to play in a third simultaneously at this time.

Thanks.

Ideology
What do you folks think of ideology? Should everyone have one? Does everyone have one without knowing it? Should a person be ideologically consistent?

Just so much awesome in 26 episodes and 2 seasons. Kevin spacey, is excellent. any complaints are trumped by the pure excellence of every other aspect of the series.
the latest season was pretty good, that early twist kept you on your toes, did not see it coming. I think Spacey is good but his southern accent is super hammy

If I have one complaint its that in season 1 everything seemed under Frank's control. He had a plan and was executing it and things were falling into place. Season 2 felt more disjointed, like he was just responding to little crises that popped up and everything kind of magically worked out. Because of that some of the motivations or reasonings among the minor characters weren't great or super consistent.

I know exactly Ha-What you mean. It's a great show just watched it this summer. next season will be interesting to see if and how they deal with some loose ends

I like that pov chairman. Didn't look at it that way and I can see that. I feel as though my like begin it is that while it's fictional there is enough RL situations to blur that line.

When the 1980's destroyed the 1960's
What are your memories of, or thoughts on, the pivot from the 1960's to the 1980's?

(Nevermind the 1970's, they were just more 1960's, with a hangover.)

ESPN Streak for the Ca$h
Anyone here play this with at least semi-seriousness, and is there interest in making a webDip group on ESPN for friendly competition? I haven't been picking too much but with CFB and NFL seasons starting up in a couple weeks, I plan on trying again. I've gotten up to W21 before during football season.

Conway's Game of Life
I suspect many of you are familiar with Conway's game of life, and there may have been a thread on this topic in the past, but I have been messing around with different patterns and I find this 'game' simply amazing. Such simple physics, but such complex and cool things can happen. If you aren't familiar with the game check out the rules here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conway's_Game_of_Life
For those who do know about this, what is the coolest pattern you have seen??

Tony Stewart Accidentally Runs Over/Kills Driver During Race
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtBH9FJ3LOU I have never watched a NASCAR or Sprint Cup race in my life...because frankly, I couldn't care less about cars going around and around in a circle 500 times (I don't doubt it's hugely challenging and takes talent, it's just not for me) but wow...what a way to go. :/ Getting run over like that mid-race, shit...
