Here's a situation I ran across a few days ago and I wanted to know your guys opinions on whether it was immoral or not. remember, the question is not whether it's moral, but rather if it's immoral or neutral. And please explain why or why not. Read further:

Prove Yourself in World Gunboat
Hey guys, I'm loving the world diplomacy gunboat games I've been playing recently, and I'd like to get a good solid game going with high stakes for those interested. I started a game named same as this thread, and wanted to advertise the game here. I'm really hoping that the bannings that have happened recently in a few of the games I'm in have gotten rid of the cheaters, so that we can have a true anonymous gunboat game without any metagamers joining.

My shame.
Other than occasionally laughing at a fortress door joke. At pub trivia tonight I missed the first diplomacy question I've ever heard at a trivia night.

An elected European President
In another thread, I argued that the role of President of the European Council and the role of President of the European Commission (the EU's "government") should be merged and that this person should be elected by an EU-wide election.

Can anyone in Michigan explain the opposition to the new bridge?
From a Hoser's point of view, it seems like a no-brainer. Wondering if there's actually a reasonable explanation for the opposition. http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/10/23/greedy-u-s-billionaire-urges-michigan-voters-to-reject-free-bridge-to-canada/

Suggestion
It's probably a dumb idea, but I'll propose it anyway. A "Repeat Last Turns' Orders" button would be useful when you have a lot of units, it is towards the end of the game, and you are simply support holding across the map for a couple of turns, waiting for a draw.

Mitt Romney: The 45th President
Polls and common sense are now showing that Romney will win. From the states that Obama carried in 2008, Romney has three: Indiana, North Carolina, Florida; completely locked up. He is ahead in Virginia, Colorado, and New Hampshire, and within the margin of error in Iowa, Wisconsin, Nevada, Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, all the states that went for the GOP in 2008 are Solid Romney. With 2 weeks left, Romney is in an increasingly strong position to take the White House.

Little French EoG:
I was really angry at austria, he was literally doing NOTHING for years. By Spring 1907 it became clear to me Germany is a solo threat, he has secured the west completely and Italy + Austria were just doing, let's see ... NOTHING! Frggin' years passwed by, and you guys were still just holding eachother.

I knew I have to jump on france, I also new it will be a sacrifice and I won't survive it. Worths to note, at this tie all 7 games were still running and this was the onlyone threatening with a solo, so I knew, if I don't stop it I will certainly lose the tournament.

So I had no choice but to start fighting with germany, and hoping these 2 countries finally figure out they should also play :)

As expected, I died, but I'm happy to stop the solo. Now I know, it was Gen. Lee, I'm happy I sacrified myself :D
CSteinhardt (9560 D(B))
11 Oct 12 UTC
I think it's fair to say that I was a bit unhappy with Austria myself. :) Then again, that's the way this game works sometimes...
Gen. Lee (7588 D(B))
11 Oct 12 UTC
Yeah that was interesting. Munich should have fallen several times but neither austria/italy really tried that. I think since the game became unbalanced early in the tournament most were just thinking I need to survive this game and get in the draw. They didn't want to give their neighbor any chance to mess with them. So much so that once my pathetic line of armies was broken in the east I had to go to armenia and help eliminate the 1 center cling-ons. France definitely made it difficult to advance and we had several guessing matches in there. I think France would have been a part of a 4-way draw had italy and austria knocked out turkey/russia quicker. Actually if I remember correctly, once i abandoned sevestapol to take them out, I had given up on the solo and would have hit draw if everyones vote was in, but italy's was not so I just kept working on france.
rokakoma (19138 D)
11 Oct 12 UTC
When you hit the draw Italy withdrew it a ocuple of hours earlier. I was hoping you will be online earlier, because it was clear you just lost the solo, and I knew I will die. Italy's vote was still in, but he came online faster and withdrew it before you put it in. I was disappointed :(

Anyway, it's easy to figure out now who is who in the last game :)
Gen. Lee (7588 D(B))
11 Oct 12 UTC
Yes it is, and therefore everybody knows what they need to do for the victory. ;)

Good luck everyone!
NigeeBaby (100 D(G))
11 Oct 12 UTC
When I took over for the real Nigee I would guess I had 8 or 9 centers and I knew right away that I was shooting for a draw with Italy and whatever power was left. That's why I never really went for German territory until he came after me; I didn't want to lose that chance. That was all I was going to get.
CSteinhardt (9560 D(B))
13 Oct 12 UTC
Indeed - I believe all I need is a double-solo in the last game, and I win! :)

Nigeebaby (or bosox) it was really mean not to let me eliminate Russia at the end and taking away my tide first place with it.

Also it was against you own interest in the tournament, because you have also lost points with it. You have had the stalemate line with StP + Berlin, it was totally useless to hold Moscow+Warshaw.

That was not nice...

All that said, and regardless of this, congratulaions Gen. Lee, you played very well in this tournament you deserve the 1st place alone, especially since you have almost soloed in 2 games. Nice job!
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
23 Oct 12 UTC
If I have a solid stalemate line, I'm not going to risk that stalemate line. I did consider taking Warsaw and Moscow but then my line was weaker and I would have needed another army.
rokakoma (19138 D)
23 Oct 12 UTC
holdin berlin from baltic and StP from norway is rock solid. There was no risk at all!!!

If it was not on purpose to make me 2nd in the tournament, then it was poor judgement from you. You could have easily pulled back and let me finish, so all of us get more points. :(

Whatever ;) not a big deal at all ...

Congrats to Gen.Lee on winning tourney.
Enjoyed the tournament.Agree 36hrs was abit long 24 would be just right.
In the last game when France decided to pull back giving all of Italy and Tunis to Turkey knew it was a matter of time till Turkey clobbered me with his extra man power.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
23 Oct 12 UTC
There wasn't any real risk, Roka, but I know the people in the tourney know what they are doing and I was an army short if I took Warsaw and Moscow the year before the draw. I wasn't going to let you have them no matter what happened. I was trying to make sure I kept my spot and those extra centers would have helped me. They were available but I didn't want to chance it. It would have taken a screw up on my part, but I'm pretty good at making that happen o_O

I think I played well in all games except my England game. Two of the three solos could have been prevented.Don't know if players where score board watching and eliminating who could be where in each game as results came in and who they where in remaining games.Allowing the two that should have been stopped.
Gen. Lee (7588 D(B))
24 Oct 12 UTC
I didn't know who was who until there were 2 games left. But if we all played good there shouldn't have been any solos :p
