WE STAAAAAAAAAAACKED
Going against the best team in the NFL and holding them to only one touchdown. Rodgers can run for 1st downs all day, since we love tackling him with big hits.

WE STAAAAAAAAAAACKED - how goldfinger's team stacked today
WE STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACKED - how Eden's team stacked yesterday

Apparently, Eden's team is much better at this 'stacking', whatever it means. One more shiny diamond in his crown of badassness.
WE STAAAAAAAACCCKED
fuckin Aaron Rodgers
I look up, see the score's 30-13 and go "Oh yeah, figures this wouldn't be close."

Then I look again and see it's the Giants winning, and my head fucking explodes.

Goldfinger is such a fair weather fan. A few weeks ago he was convinced the Giants were doomed.

Coughlin - COTY.

OHH YEAAAAAAAAAH. CRUUUUUUUUZZZ

And don't jinx us, Eden
I'm not a fair weather fan. I'm just cautiously optimistic. They have the ability to suck more than any other team. Don't you dare accuse me of that. I always hope they will win and always root for them, but I temper my expectations
I mean, I only started this threat as a parody of Eden's thread yesterday
It's not as funny if your team wins, though.
No, not nearly as funny. I'm still pleased though :)
Needs more insane, ridiculous [and possibly alcohol-influenced] outbursts at nothing, imo

FUCKING STACKING, HOW DOES IT WORK??!
ulytau (541 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
No, seriously, I would like to know. I have seen more footage from cycle ball championships than NFL.
SacredDigits (102 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
I don't know if they let you see it internationally, but www.nfl.com has highlight reels of all games.
ulytau (541 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
Access to the broadcast is not an issue, when I switch to ESPN, there's usually NFL, but I simply can't watch it as a sport since I don't know what's going on AT ALL. It's like watching some native ritual, you can see a pattern in the behaviour, you know when something went well since everyone's cheering and so on but how can I appreciate it when I don't know what stacking is? I want to yell WE STAAAAAAAACCCKED as well to enjoy the game but I have to know when. When is it appropriate to yell WE STAAAAAAAACCCKED?
SacredDigits (102 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
Oh, that's easy.

You look to your left. If there are at least five empty beer cans there, it's time to yell WE STAAAAAAAAAAAACKED!
ulytau (541 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
What if I drink bottled beer? I would probably lose my citizenship if I bought a six-pack here :(
SacredDigits (102 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
Cans, bottles, it's all the same. When it comes to the NFL.

Putin33 (111 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
Stacked = full of talented players. It's what Philly fans kept yelling before they underachieved again.
ulytau (541 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
But that means WE STAAAAAAAAAAAACKED is gramatically incorrect. Why would anyone boast in a gramatically incorrect way? Is it because of the beer? In any family friendly sport, it could really hurt the reputation of a team if it became known that its fans are drunkards. Soccer fans are drunkards too. They are violent as well.

I guess football is a drunkards' game all around the world.

My heart broke after this game. No lie. Broken.
Putin33 (111 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
No, most slang is grammatically incorrect. The verb "to be" is one of the most abused in all the English language. Although yes football fans are drunkards. BTW, please tell me you do not support Slavia Praha.
ulytau (541 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
I do not support Slavia Praha.
Putin33 (111 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
Good, what is your team?
ulytau (541 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
I'm more of a hockey fan, where I support Sparta Praha. Since it's a club that outbranches to other sports like football, basketball or rugby, I guess I support those teams as well from solidarity when I watch the respective leagues. What is so bad about Slavia? Apart from being the biggest rival of Sparta that is. Fans of Sparta and Banik Ostrava are usually deemed the worst around here although it's true that ever since Kaiser Franz started to coach Slavia, the fans are giving him hell.
Putin33 (111 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
I like Sparta, nothing to do with the fans.
ulytau (541 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
Has it something to do with Sparta being historically the working man's team while Slavia was always the team of 'intelectuals'?
ulytau (541 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
I'm basically a Spartan because of my granddad and dad who were really into football but I deserted to hockey :) I watch the football as well and I am happy we are in the first spot right now but I don't visit the home games on the stadium which for me is what disinguishes a fan from a mere supporter.
Putin33 (111 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
No, has to do with Sparta's position on Kosovo.
Putin33 (111 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
If I were to support the real working class club I'd back Banik, I think.
Putin33 (111 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
I guess in the end it does have something to do with the fans.
ulytau (541 D)
16 Jan 12 UTC
It's true Banik is more of a working class club, since Ostrava is still a working class city, with the mines and steel mills and stuff. Sparta has the largest fanbase which is also not restricted to Prague proper so it is overall more heterogenous. However, the core fans of football in the Czech Republic are working class men so each team from a bigger city ought to have at least some working class ethos. Since there is no divisive issue among the teams (like religion in Scotland), finding the real working class club is probably really only about finding the city with the most populous working class so Ostrava is the natural number one candidate (since we only take the cities with a first league team).

Great American Political Quotes
Europe is so different than America that European political philosophy has little relevance in the United States. (2012 should keep it that way as well).
I dedicate this thread to American political quotes.

Check out this guy - Machiavelli is right
gameID=77832

In a 5 minute live game, Turkey, Russia, and England don't show up. I (playing France) move immediately to Cancel and Austria, some guy named Octopus_seppuku, refuses and quite obviously wins due to the Balkans, Turkey and Russia being uncontested. I just find that very poor sportsmanship and not in the spirit of the game. I guess he needed to pad his rating or something. How utterly base and sad.

Arizona Bans Mexican/Native-American Texts From Classes, Including...Shakespeare?!
http://www.salon.com/2012/01/13/whos_afraid_of_the_tempest/singleton/
In a meeting this week, administrators informed Mexican-American studies teachers to stay away from any units where “race, ethnicity and oppression are central themes,” including the teaching of Shakespeare’s classic ["The Tempest"] in Mexican-American literature courses.
1. What is up with Arizona's Latino-phobia, and 2. Really...Shakespeare banned as Latino Lit? O.O

I'm new to the site and am looking at "Bye, Points" active game. Says no in game messaging, anomymous players. Yet I see Italy supporting Austria and another cooperation later in the game. How does this happen? Doen't look like a lucky guess to me

It Happened in 1912...Will Another GOP 7-10 Split Help Obama Win like Wilson in 1912?
Everyone knows the story--William Howard Taft got the GOP nomination in 1912 (more due to Taft's being friends and more laissez-faire than actual popularity in regards to the powers that be than TR) but Teddy Roosevelt still had so much solo-name-starpower he became the most successful 3rd party candidate ever...but BOTH LOST to some fellow the Democrats ran by the name of Woodrow Wilson, due in large part to a split GOP vote. Do you think Romney/RP/Obama=Roosevelt/Taft/Wilson, 2012=1912?
