Well, I'm Back...Again.
My sitter seemed to do a pretty good job, but it looks like I might screw all of that up.
Anyways, the past few seconds I've been on here, I've only realized how big of a douche each of you are. Once I finish my games...I'm pretty sure I'm not coming back.

Suggested Map
I'd like to suggest a map to add as an alternative to the Classic Diplomacy, the Ancient Mediterranean, or the Global map. I found it the same place the other two were found. It's called "Canton Diplomacy", and it takes place in Asia.

In an anonymous, no chat, wta game Austria and Italy coordinated all of their moves. Also 2 of the 7 teams didn't turn up. Is it possible to register as 4 players. I'm hazarding a guess that all 4 of the players are one and the same person. Any thoughts from any forum members, nobody likes cheats, it spoils the games and devalues the website. Is this a common occurrence?

Tactical Sim
I think it would be a really great feature to be able to run a tactical simulation - set up the board however you want, enter moves for multiple countries and see them adjudicated. Basically to have the option of playing against yourself on your own board. I think it would be really useful, both for new players getting the hang of basic tactics and for veterans who want to see how various strategies play out over multiple rounds. What say you, webDiplomacy?

Rise of fascism in Europe?
Several political movements have appeared in Europe that are generally assembled under the common denominator "extreme right". Are they also fascist? Are they a threat to democratic stability?

Redhouse, the personal message thing exists. I'm glad you're well.

I don't see how it's misleading at all. The logic here escapes me, how is the UKIP anything but far-right if all of its political positions are far-right? Is it your claim that they're moderates because their more extreme ideas wouldn't readily be implemented?

UKIP associates with far-right extremists, including the avowedly fascist Lega Nord in Italy and the neo-Nazi (or maybe formerly neo-Nazi these days) League of Polish Families.

And a slew of their more prominent members have dubious associations themselves, including the New Britain Party, which cannot be described as anything but far-right.

Well my grandmother exists but that's no reason to be rude!
Octavious (2701 D)

All of it's political positions are certainly not far right. Their economic policy is to the right of the Tories because of the reasons I've mentioned, and they have a strong anti-EU viewpoint. Aside from that they are carbon copies of the Conservatives.
Octavious (2701 D)

The New Britiain Party? A party that poses such a threat to democracy that I've never heard of them :p. Who are they?
Putin33 (111 D)
17 Jan 12 UTC
A white nationalist party. I didn't say they posed a threat, I said the UKIP are extremists. They are a middle class version of the BNP.
Putin33 (111 D)
17 Jan 12 UTC
"Aside from that they are carbon copies of the Conservatives."

That says a lot about the Tories. You're probably right. There is no daylight between UKIP and the Tory backbench.
Invictus (240 D)
17 Jan 12 UTC
If UKIP, and by extension the Conservative parliamentary party, is far-right, then what does center-right look like? The Conservatives have quotas for women MPs and are allowing Scotland to have an independence referendum. It's perfectly acceptable to disagree with their policy positions, but claiming they're far-right really cheapens the term. You ought to apply it to, well, the David Dukes and Jobbiks of the world.
Putin33 (111 D)
17 Jan 12 UTC
What does UKIP have to do to be a David Duke? Since it clearly has no problem associating with the David Dukes of the world and has prominent EP politicians who came from organizations David Duke would be proud to be a member of. Face it, there is very little that you find extreme on the right side of the spectrum short of goose-stepping pencil mustachioed brown shirted paramilitaries. I mean you've argued that Santorum, a guy who openly advocates assassination and terrorism as a policy vs Iran and thinks the Crusades were a great example of how the west should behave in the Middle East, is a reasonable conservative.

I'm not arguing that the Tory leadership is far-right, but the leadership and Tory backbench are two different animals. The Tory leadership has tried to some degree to shed the party of its cold Thatcherite baggage. Although I'd hardly say that Mr. "Calm Down, Dear" is enlightened on the question of gender. The party's leadership happily claims that women are to blame for unemployment and wrecking the family. The reason why Cameron has reversed course on short lists is because it is painfully clear that his party is almost universally male and white (only 4 women in the cabinet, only one who is an ethnic minority), which to be fair is also a problem for the Lib Dems. I'm not getting your point on the Scotland issue, as its clear the Tories are trying to dictate to the Scots the terms of the referendum, so how is that out of step with old Toryism again? The fact that his meddling is increasing support for independence speaks to the stupidity of his government, not to the Tories sudden love for Scottish self-determination. If not for Tory interference, nobody would even be talking about this referendum.

I take it Octavious has no further comments in relation to mine, regarding the current UK government?
Octavious (2701 D)

I could spend hours commenting about the government, Jamie, but in truth what good would it do? I have no great desire to bore the hell out of everyone here and completely derail the thread in a doomed attempt to swing you to my point of view. Let's just say that I think you're wrong, and I base my thoughts on instinct and experience working in the public sector, and leave it at that.

@ steephie: Yes, politics in the UK is VERY close to what is portrayed in Yes Minister. It is amusingly accurate.

B-b-b-b-but TC said that Europe is socialist. How can it be turning to fascism? This thread makes no sense.
Jamiet99uk (865 D)
19 Jan 12 UTC
@ dD_ShockTrooper (416 D ):

1. Europe is not socialist, as a whole.
2. Europe is not turning to fascism.
3. Tettleton's opinions on the matter are of no significance.
4. There is no point 4.
