Why ask here? You'd have a better chance of an answer over on the developer forums. (Which I am too lazy to link. If you poke around the help tab I'm pretty sure you'll find the link. That or google)

While the mods have quite a few powers that normal members do not, I'm pretty sure that seeing the future is not one of them...

As an accomplished software developer and writer, I am sure that Kestas continues to desire a great many things in his career. To my best understanding, he wishes for webDiplomacy to remain an open and welcoming community for all whilst continuing to work and work with others in an effort to improve upon his initial design so that we can all forever proclaim this domain as the best form of online diplomacy available.

Through a multitude of member donations, the resources necessary to host our community have been provided entirely, before which, Kestas was taking the costs upon himself. I do not believe their is an end goal, and I do believe the site will remain strong and growing regardless of who comes or goes.

The developer area can be found at forum.webdiplomacy.net, but please be respectful in your approach, those forums are reserved for design and improvement, not for speculation and marketing.

I thought the end goal was for us to select the best and brightest players to go into politics and take over the world...

thats the answer i needed

he can't be that good at web development if he hasn't even implemented a simple Ajax command to refresh the chat/map when it changes so that you never have to refresh the page :/

@Sourness, even i have a simple ajax command to... and i can tell you from looking at kestas' code, he's a much better programmer/web developer than me.

There are downsides to most ajax methods, mostly in terms of server load. I know one fork had ajax updates which minimized the overhead by only sending a 'not updated' responce, but until websockets are standard and the server can push data to the client, i don't think we'll see such a thing.

Seriously, though, the game is open source. There are 'to dos' and 'plans' over at the dev forum, but some people take the code, add their own twist, and make their own versions... sometimes kestas pulls in the ideas here, sometimes he does not (see vdip for how extensive the code can get... and he's taken stuff from vdip to put in here as well). So the sky is the limit depending on who wants to help work on it.

As a mod/admin, we just want every game to be fair without any unfair advantages gained by cheating. We'll probably never get 100%, but we strive to get there.
