The quiet forum
Is it just me or has the forum become pretty quiet as late? I used to enjoy coming on in my state of, shall we say, fragileness!! to read some crazy forum chat about religion or moral issues. I come on today, caked to the high heavens and there are no good debates to join - boo!

Calvinists here
I'm curious: how many of the Calvinists on here are five-point Calvinists? And if you're not, but still call yourself a Calvinist, just what part of the theology do you accept?
(I'm interested because I'm writing a research paper called "Calvinism and Lutheranism")

Suspicious

Have a look at the Autumn 1903, but, the supports by two of the souther neighbors are highly suspicious in an ANON game.

When do I get to sleep again?
New to webdiplomacy-- thanks for a great site. One problem....
Fin (100 D)

I joined at the same time as a friend, and we have both noticed an abrupt disruption in our sleep patterns. I have been waking up at 3am thinking about diplomatic problems and reviewing my moves in my mind.... checking the mobile phone, etc. This morning i actually set an alarm for 4am to see if someone was going to get thier moves in on time (they did not and i had to make a last minute, dramatic change in plans).

So you old timers--- when does this phase end? Because i am not sure how long i can take it (or my wife will tolerate it)!

I set an alarm for 4:30 AM this morning for the same reason! Holy crap. GET OUT OF MY HEAD

I suggest playing games that don't take forever like that, live games are my solution. Live games take 3-4 hours so just start it at say, 6 and you're free and clear by 10.

Never, it just gets worse. Eventually you will sit in front of your computer all day refreshing ever 2 minutes to see if there's anything going on.

first you have to realize that it isn't a problem, you have to accept the ways of diplomacy, then and only then can you get some sleep. ha like that will ever happen the great diplomacy will never stoop to our level.

why am i talking like this, hmm probably from lack of sleep due to staying on this website mulling over where i should move one army :)

With somewhat longer phases you can prevent the timer to end in the middle of the night. 36 hrs for instance. For the rest, learn to cope with it. There comes a moment you (or probably, your wife) ask(s) 'whatfor are you doing this!' And then you start to go either completely nuts or cool things down to a more relaxed pace.

maybe a psichologist could specialize in diplomacy adiction.
symptoms: insomnia, compulsive obsesion, paranoia, thirst of power...

After a while it lessens, but ya, when I first started, I'd close my eyes for bed and see the map and worry about moves. It didn't take too long for that period to stop, thankfully.

How long have you been playing Stukus, because I still get that :S

Still, its worth it if you can get a win or two!

Reminds me of playing Tetris in my head while trying to get to sleep. And many other games.

36-48 hour phases help because you've got plenty of time to work things out with your allies and opponents during normal waking hours. But waiting 2 days for someone to disband their dislodged unit that had only one place to retreat to is its own special kind of pain.

@Figle, over half a year. Since April? I think games like Tetris sort of gave me some sort of tolerance. I still obsessively reload pages sometimes. Especially in someone hasn't submitted orders and the deadline is in minutes...

It was a bug or I that don't know the rules?
Hello!
In my game I was France and i made a move (in convoy - with a fleet on mid atlantic sea) from Brest to Belgium and i gave support to move from Picardy (with a fleet) and Burgundy (with an army). Germany hold his position on Belgium and gave support to hold from holland (with an army). Why couldn't I took the Belgium?
