As the victor, depending on which calculation is currently being used, I should have received either 18/34 of the pot, or 20/34 or the pot.

The pot was 1079.
18/34 * 1079 = 571
20/34 * 1079 = 634

The message I received from gamemaster:

Congrats, you have won the game, and get 540

!

Interesting. And it isn't a rounding thing either as a proper rounding returns 32 pointds per SC and a floor calculation returns 31

per SC. One is 576 and the other 558. It looks like it just gave you half the points, not 18 SCs worth.

I notice this, too. My relevant games had CD territories and low pots, so I haven't been able to reverse engineer the formula. (I suppose I could check out the code and have a look, but where's the fun in that?)

It does seem certain, though, that the victor is actively penalized for going over 18 SCs.

They new code was supposed to give out no more than 18 SCs worth in PPSC, but it appears to only give out half of the pot to a winner. So someone goes CD and the winner only gets (34-N)/2*P points where N is the number of SCs in CD and P is the PPSC rate.

Of course, the latest code isn't posted anywhere so we can't look at it. The only thing available at the moment appears to be .8X code.

There is something wrong when you can have a 17/17 standoff (you versus two other players) and have one of those players go CD so that you win, and the other one gets the same number of points as you. Or worse, a 1 on 1 standoff that ends when one of the two go CD and you still only get half the pot, but the house gets the rest.

Getting only half the pot for a clear victory does seem bad.

I was using as a data point my own game: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=11627
According to messages I received, I got 8

for 6 SCs, and Austria for 23

for 19 SCs. I don't know about England, but I hope he got 11

for 8 SCs. It's a very small pot, so the rounding may obscure a lot of effects in this case.

Interesting, it appears if you use the word points, it prints out fine, but if you precede it with a number, it changes to a D token, like 5

I think you can also just use a lower case D, such as X d where X is a number. For example: 5

Best moves in a gunboat.

I haven't been in a lot of gunboat games, so I don't have a lot of great moves under my belt, but I know a lot of you guys might have some interesting (succesful) moves. Maaybe some convoys? Maybe something as cool as Army in Serbia support army in London to Greece? Multi-country convoys?

Diplomacy during retreat and disbanding phases?

Why isn't diplomacy during these phases blocked, as required by the rules? Isn't this game supposed to be true to the original rules? It seems to me like this could speed up the game a bit for these phases. Is it allowed because players would be able to cheat and talk anyway through e-mail or instant messaging?

Supporting Hold Question

Say I have an army moving to a providence. And it gets stood-off. So it is forced to hold. Then say I have another army support the hold on my original moving army. Does that support stand? My army was originally moving, but was then forced to hold.

Rules question

What are the conditions for getting a supply center? e.g. if I go A Mar-Spa turn one and then go A Spa-Por, do i get SPA and POR? or do I need to have units in both of the end of the second turn prior to the build?

A slight dilemma...again.

Hello! This happened before. We have a live game which we would like to unpause, but Russia hasn't been seen forever. Chrisp forced him to go CD, so we were going to unpause it tomorrow night. But, he rejoined. Stayed long enough to become not CD anymore. The bastard.

question about the rules of dislodgement

If two players try to move into the same country and standoff, but then one players territory is taken and the only place that that players unit may retreat to is the territory that could not be taken earlier in the turn, what happens to the dislodged unit?

looks like most of the leagues are wrapping up

the ghostmaker, when will the next season be starting? it's really gratifying to see those little charts of the standings filled in. though C3 still has 3 games to finish, i have to say it's been a lot of fun, and i'm looking forward to the next round! =)

Kestas: Where's my game gone?

This is my second attempt to get a solution to this problem.

The name of the game was "Diplomat First, Commander Second II". The game is missing completely. It isn't active, it isn't finished, it simply isn't there any more. When I click on the link I get "Game not found; ensure a valid game ID has been given"

HELP Clarification

I have a unit in Norway and a unit in Sweden. They wish to exchange places. Will the game let me do this or count this as a block?
i.e. Unit at Norway moves to Sweden - and - Unit at Sweden moves to Norway. Will these moves be successful or not?
