Multiaccount Ban
Users Centaurian, vb, carlton, andreas75, calispo, and hotrod69 have been banned for multiaccounting.

I have temporarily left two other accounts (calibrate and Armageddon2) which are possibly related but at least not involved in any of the same games.

phpDiplomacy Christmas Break
I don't know if this has happened before, but it was an idea that crossed my mind.
Perhaps it might be an idea, as people have a tendency to be busy around Christmas, to relieve them of having to think about their orders?
It could be just Christmas, or Dec 24-26, or whatever. What do people think?

Unfinalized unit destruction
I put in an order in one of my games to destroy a unit in North Africa, but left the order was unfinalized. When I return the phase has past, and it destroyed Ukraine instead (because it was the furthest away from my home SCs). I thought that leaving updated but not finalized orders for build phases would execute those orders, like in regular diplomatic phases. So what gives?

Statistical Query
Just out of curiosity, which of the 7 powers has the best win percentage on php? Wondering because I seem to fare better with some countries than others, and I want to know if it's a statistical thing or just my specific playing style.

It would be nice to know about phpDip specifically, however - generally speaking - the data shows: France -> Russia -> Austria -> Turkey -> England -> Germany -> Italy. (Source: Mattew Self).

Not sure about stats on php but this site has some stats (and I am pretty sure I have seen some other figures out there too).
http://www.badpets.net/Diplomacy/AtoZ/C.html#CompletedGames
I would say based on the figures from the above site that the countires most likely to win are Russia, France and Germany, while poor Italy is the least likely.
From my own experience I find France the easiest to play.
Facebook phpdiplomacy had a thread a while back where someone calculated the ratios on the games played there but that thread would be gone by now.
It would be interesting to see whether PPSC games have different figures than WTA games. Russia would seem to be more of an all or nothing kind of power than, say, France.

All the statistical reports here on countries are distorted by the high number of Drops (CD) and No Moves Received (NMR).
Further there is the HORRIBLE tendency for games to be made here where there is no Italy or German player at the start.

What you would need to do is to look at games where there are NO CD/NMR's or replacement players and then break them down by Win Only and Points Per Center games.

Historically in postal/email games where there are drops Russia jumps to the lead because it has the most effective neighbors and anyone of them that drops gives a big increase in favorable outcomes. This causes an aggressive Russia to gain even more when in a normal game the aggressive Russian winds up causing his own demise.

Additionally the play styles encouraged here by the different scoring systems and the high influx of new players who ignore it while there is a core of experienced players that are focused on it/them.

So statistical analysis is a mine field here.

Turkey has disproportionate success here compared to postal play statistics.

yes , i remember some guy (who? he came, did it, then left! ) had a good hard long look at the phpdip stats (with the cds and nmrs, sorry edi) and turkey came out tops. followed by france or russia i think. austria wasnt so bad actually, it had a decent record, if it survived beyond the first few years it had a real good winning record i think.

Austria is actually pretty superbly plaeced once it gets a bunch of armies. Its just the not getting crushed early part that is difficult. I'm always surprised how England ranks so low, I have won a couple times with them.

please ban ██████████
League games will have distorted data. When you play the league games you are actually playing 2 games at once, the immediate game of Diplomacy and the league game.

Winning in one is not the same as winning in the other.

Personally I do the best with Turkey and France, but it`s still too early for that to be any indication of which country suits me because I`ve only played 16 or 17 games so far. Also, it`s evident that Russia has the potential to expand very far, very quickly, but I think it`s a psychological thing to attack Russia just to get the obvious threat out of the way before focusing on other countries. Russia`s so big that it just looks like it`s a huge threat from the get-go, but really it`s not at all that much of an advantage because of the fact that there`s so much more territory to defend and only one more supply centre (than the other powers) to do it.
PS what sort of code do you have to write to get the inverted text? Or is it just a font on a word-processing program you have mac?

Favorite/least favorite philosophers?
After Thucydides' accusation of solipsism I thought I'd bring up this topic for a little healthy discussion and perhaps some mind-expanding debate.

My favorite philosopher would be a toss-up between Aristotle and Nietzsche. My least favorite is indubitably Plato.
