Okay, I've made some divisions for the ELO system as I did in a previous thread when this was first brought up and assigned them a graphic. Now, we can surely use an agreed upon standard for the divisions and to their names, so this just an example of what it could look like.
Here is the link which shows the divisions and what it might look like on the message board and in-game. Note: ranking assignments in the message board picture were arbitrarily assigned by win percentage...the in-game picture was arbitrarily assigned by total points...we'd obviously be using the ELO system in both cases instead.

I took the time to do this because not only would a ranking system more accurately reflect a players skill, but I think it would add an additional element of motivation...to gain rank, rather than increasing points.
Anyway to briefly explain the graphics (the names are open for debate should we get something like this going):
Apprentice - this is where first players start, no games complete, a first timer's ELO rating...a small gold button ready to be molded.
Journeyman - A single bar...the shape has molded...your learning process has begun. An agreed upon ELO rating above the first timer.
Graduate - A single green bar...the shape has molded, but tarnished. An agreed upon ELO rating below the first timer.
Senior - Two demerits, you are going backwards
Superintendent - Got a couple notches in your medal.
Director - A few more notches...
Representative - You have squared up and have earned your badge You are given a worthy title.
Ambassador - A diamond in the making...
Statesman - You've come full circle and are a rank away from mastery.
Diplomats - the iron cross...a common icon in the most prestiges of medals.
Grandmaster - seven pointed star, six opponents plus yourself, you've overcome all of them. :)
Anyway, those are just my thoughts...feel free to discuss...
