A problem here
Game affected: http://www.phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gid=2463

Hi,
I am Turkey in this game. One thing I do not understand, why can Russia take my Greece in just 1 turn? Shouldn't Russia get it after the second Diplomacy turn, instead of immediately after attacking? Is that a known bug or am I wrong about the rules?

Due Now... how long is "Now?"
A game of mine: El pinko del bozo, has been in the "due now" stage for more than three hours. Is that normal?

Agreed to a two-way draw
We are at 17 centers apiece in the game political puppets ll and have formed a stalemate line. We have agreed to split the points and I get the win if we can't share it.

Thanks

In order to win must you have 18 units, or just 18 SCs?

I'd vote for "No". The 7 day wait last time was bad enough.

Personally, I won't need the break. Still, Karkand, I don't think that a 3 or 4 day extended deadline would hurt so bad. If all of your opponents finalize orders then you're fine. Otherwise...well, this just gives you an excuse to get off your ass and start loving your family again this holiday season hahaha!

I vote "Yes" to cancel Karkand's. Merry Christmas everybody...or Happy Holidays if Christmas ain't your thing!

IMO thelong-term answer is to have games with different clock cycles, such that people could join 'fast' or 'slow' games. Well, that and the concept of allowing all active players in a game to vote for an <n>-day pause.

I only commit to games with my schedule in mind. The one time a game suprised me and bit into an AFK vacation, I changed my password and handed it to a friend from FTF gaming who didn't use this site.

I could use a three-day extension while I travel (that's my excuse for not finalizing my orders; don't get too angry at me ;)

I agree with Crimson. On a site where I sometime play Go, you are able to set up the time limit for each round. Players can choose the games that match their ability to log in and make moves.

As for Christmas break, I'm in Japan and the break is at New Years (1/1) not Christmas. And my break lasts until 1/6. Adjusting for Christmas break is not fair to people in "non-Christian" countries. I plan to log in during my break anyways.
bajeezus (574 D)

Technically, the US isn't a Christian country. I'm not Christian, I'm an atheist (although I happen to like getting presents on the 25th you understand...). Fact is, I don't tell people not to take Christmas break just because we're not Christians all of us. Fact is, a majority are in the US, so we work to serve the majority by taking Christmas off. It's the only way things can work, unless there's either (a) breaks whenever "religion" wants, or (b) no breaks ever.

Same here. Yeah its not fair. Hahahaha! I live in a "Christian" country and you don't. That's life, laugh at me when I go back to college and you're sitting on your ass, taking time to finalize your dip moves. But this fairness argument just doesn't work in our society, it can't work.

That said, we can just the same have no break, but it would definitely help the majority if we took a break. So, do you have a problem with helping people out, even if you have to break from Diplomacy for 48, maybe 72 hours? You obviously have no problem with continuing play during your break, or you would have asked for that instead of asking for what you did: that we shouldn't get a break at all and risk losing games just because you love your family more than taking Sweden or Constantinople. So are you compassionate, or just want the upper hands in your games?

This isn't real war, and people have lives (most importantly at Christmas time). So why not be nice? Hell it's Christmas, what better time, right? Sorry that took so long to say.

Merry Christmas!!!

I would vote for extending the deadlines to 3-5 days (only the next turn). So basically everyone can decide if they want to take a break (not finalizing) or go on (finalizing the moves). Would it be possible Kestas?

Huh?
Could someone explain what this means:

"Spring 1913, Diplomacy: Your army at Burgundy recieved stand support from the army at Munich, but couldn't accept it because your army at Munich tried to move"

Besides the misspelling of "received," I can't understand how my army at Munich could both give stand support to Burgundy and try to move.

judication issue
I have noticed this ajudication issue, and it has not been discussed:

Assume the following orders:
Austria: Rumania support move Viena - Galicia
Viena - Galicia
Budapest support hold Rumania
Russia: Galicia - Rumania
Sevastopol support move Galicia - Rumania

In my opinion, Rumania holds, and Viena dislodges Galicia. Because "support against a province can only cut by the unit from the same province if the supporting unit is dislodged".

I am afraid the present phpdiplomacy adjudicator uses some other rule in this situation. As Austria, I got this message:
"Your army at Rumaniawas attacked by the army at Galicia, with support, and had to defend itself."
and Viena - Galicia did not succeed.

I would like to ask the community, and in particular Kestas, to clarify this.

An unfortunate error with the updated convoy rules...
So, I was going to very tricky and convoy around an attacker. The situation was that I have army Clyde, Fleet NAO and england has army Edi, fleet Lvp. I ordered Cly - NAO, NAO convoys Cly - Lvp. England ordered Lvp - Cly, Edi S Lvp - Cly (which was his obvious defense and so I correctly manuevered to outsmart and defeat it. The only problem was, the rules implementations failed me again. Now I though I had things figured out 8 or 9 months ago after I was surprised to see I could favorably (or unfavorably) dislodge my own units and cut my own supports, and I was very excited to find the convoy problem corrected since convoys were virtually useless before that. But, I was hoping that someone more powerful on the site could step in and redo the previous adjudication correctly (put my army in Lvp where it belongs) or if I could at least just have it back in Cly since the attack i would have made Cly - Lvp, NAO S Cly - Lvp would have succeed in bouncing with his assault.
