Not really? I just don't think that you can accurately compare someone who has been in office for a few months (or has recently left office) with others whose policies can be more easily analyzed because it is easier to see how they affected / influenced the events that after.

I am not saying that Trump is necessarily great or horrible, but if you like or hate him right now it isn't based on the effect he had on the world. It is more accurately the effect you expect he will have or the effect you perceive he is having.

A great example of that is I tend to rate Harding pretty low because of his complacency in corruption, but that information was not known until after his death.

A person can fairly evaluate current policies, especially about such science related topics as global warming. This is not opinion based. A person can also evaluate policies based on a critical and informed reading of such respected moral values as presented in the Bible. Some recent administrative decisions from both parties may still be nebulous. A person might then consult a variety of resources from differing value backgrounds to develop an individual mindset. In any case, its very possible to develop a good personal perspective despite the reality that time clarifies.

You're saying that you can certainly know what a sitting president may do in the next three years and thus give as reliable an evaluation of his entire administration as you could for one who has completed his term and years have passed to show the effects of his policies?

To be clear, I am not saying that you cannot evaluate current policy and be perfectly correct in your opinions. You won't get any argument from me if you do. I am no fan of Trump's. I simply don't find it premature to give a culminating evaluation of an administration that hasn't reached its culmination.

Of course I know full well that you're not claiming any kind of prescience. I acknowledge your ability to make a judgement about Trump. I also know that people (politicians especially) can make shifts in their policies over time.

Harding's corruption scandal is nothing by today's standard of corruption. You wouldn't even get a hiccup from the MSM about it.

Sending your mistress and her husband on an all expense paid tour of China with an additional $611,000 spending money ($50,000 in 1950) sounds pretty corrupt even by today's standards. Especially considering their vacation was during the election and it was specifically to keep them quiet about the affair because they were blackmailing him.

As senator Harding had an affair with an 18 year old girl (and a baby with her whom he never acknowledged). He carried this affair on until he died in 1923. I would guess that this unwed mother did not get any trip to China or 50K though.

At least Harding won the popular vote.
