Neutral units in World Diplomacy?
I just found something peculiar - http://webdiplomacy.net/cache/games/1858/185865/11-small.map - what's wrong with this map?

@ssorenn

Have anything with a generous relocation package for an intelligent individual with lots of experience administrating gaming websites and a decent ability to cook?

Asking for a friend. :D

Ssorenn, will you pay to relocate me? I'm exactly like HR but with the skills you actually want as an added bonus.
This is why you don't give a mouse a cookie.

On truth Bo is right. I own a piece of a company that's trying to scale itself and we are hiring. I bring this here because I know a lot of people are young and intelligent here ( except for this Peter fucktard and capt bimbo). I really could care less if anyone takes me up on it. I thought I would offer it to this community where I spend some time

I don't know much about this kind of stuff. But Peter made this really cool script/program/thing for mafia. You should totally hire him.

@ghug. If your a programmer or coder and you need to be compensated to relocate, you must not be good at your job or you live under a rock

I knew I should have taking up coding. If you have anything relevant to economics, let me know.

@CAPT Brad and the rest: "steephie22 might be qualified if she works for the company on her profile. i think bo is right; here ssorenn is going out of her way to find a talented individual and that should be respected. if peter wants to rant about trump there are three threads still open for that."

First of all, I'm a he but that's fine. My nickname sounds girl-ish in some parts of the world. It just makes me chuckle every time.
Second, I don't technically work for Broad Expert, I founded it.
Third, I am a first year bachelor student, so I have no degree in Computer Science or anything except English and some good references.
Most importantly, I do not live in Chicago and I do not intend to move there for a job. I would take a job solely for the learning experience, and in this case I'm not ready to throw my life around for a learning experience I can get elsewhere too.

That said, I'm currently reforming the business case of Broad Expert. I am now specialising on helping startups who are in need of all kinds of experts. In particular, experts who are willing to do more than just a job. Experts who are willing to think along and commit to becoming a vital part of those startups. This can be in return for company shares, money or other rewards.

As a result of this reformation and an abundance of clients, I'm eagerly looking for all kinds of experts: marketing experts, IT experts, mechanical engineers, industrial designers, logistics experts, networking experts, financial experts and the list goes on. In many cases, you'll be able to pick the startup you like and you will be expected to contribute to the business case itself.

There's no location requirement. if this sounds like your kind of thing and you're capable of working autonomously, feel free to send an email to [email protected] and inform me of your strengths, weaknesses and needs.
Please note that I'm not asking for your degrees. I'm asking for an honest assessment of your skills and a willingness to commit to a team that you believe in if I find you one. I assure you that you won't earn a cent if you can't be honest with me.
You will most likely be a subcontractor rather than an employee, but you have a large say in our agreements.

@ssorenn: Feel free to send me an email as well because I might be able to help you as soon as I've completed the reformation, sorted out which startups are unsuitable and found some reliable people.

@yoak: We might be able to help eachother as well. Feel free to contact me if you agree.

I figured I would add my own job advertisements to this thread since I have been summoned by CAPT Brad.

The company is not a start up. We have large corporate clients and existing and recurring revenue streams. Cyber security is a vastly growing fold projected to have $200 in infrastucture by 2020. That's up from 58+billion currently

"projected to have $200 in infrastructure by 2020"

$200? That's incredible! totally worth investing my life into :P
steephie22 (182 D(S))

You're right: that's not a startup. You're looking for reliable experts all the same, though. That's why I offered help.

I'm focusing my marketing on startups because they are a target group that I can reach with great ease and they are easy to work with. That doesn't mean I deny help to anyone who isn't a startup; the motto of Broad Expert is "The Power to Adapt" for a reason.

If you don't think I can help you, feel free to ignore my offer.
ChoosyBeggar (325 D)
18 Dec 16 UTC
In all seriousness though, private cyber-security is about to see a massive fucking boost. Trump is likely to neglect or reduce government-run efforts in the field, which will more than likely boost private-sector interest. If you have the skills, get in now.

Also, steephie, you need to work on your pitch/cold approach. You're coming off as a smarmy little shit that has more spunk than actual knowledge. Any serious 'expert' is going to avoid you completely.

Btw steephie. I would never contact you for anything. Ever
steephie22 (182 D(S))

I can confirm that I have more energy and commitment than actual knowledge. I'm looking for committers who are willing to learn whatever they need to know to make something work, not people who think they know everything already.

Commitment is the #1 requirement.

Is it me, or is the Modern Diplomacy map really bad?
The starts are more unbalanced than in any other variant, and builds anywhere means there is no incentive to defend your homeland, and lessens strategic depth as there is also no incentive to try your best to hold your ground when you've extended relatively far from where you started. I've played this variant a couple times, but it keeps disappointing me. What's the appeal?

I'm not purely trying to detract here, I sincerely want a counterargument.

With some crackdown activity by the Mods on multis in the past few months, it looks like the number of public non-anonymous games has taken a bit of a dip, suggesting that there were indeed quite a few multi-account efforts in these games. I for one appreciate the policing of such cheating.

F2F Game in Chicago Area
Hey guys, I'm going to be in the greater Chicago area from like January 2nd until January 12th or so. There aren't many webdipers located around me, but I figure there's probably 5 or 6 in Chicago. Would anyone be interested in playing a face to face game if I can find enough people?

Hey all. I've got two friends that I play nerdy games with most sundays and we are looking to start a game here. One is familiar with the game the other is not. I'm looking for some players who will invest some time to give them a good game. More details inside (and I didn't pretype it, so chill)

Who would you regard as the finest players whom you have played with on webDiplomacy?
As I said before, thus far the two best players whom I have played with are McFly and Kearns892. I have played with players who are ranked higher in the "ghost ratings," but that doesn't mean anything as it also accounts for prevalence of play.

I would be interested in hearing other people's responses.

Replacement Thread
Seriously Mods (or whomever) -- we need a replacement thread where people will sign up to be on a waiting list to take-over positions, etc.

Got a player in need of some help and can't find a replacement. Throw 'em some points or something for helping out...but this NOT being able to find a replacement for a game is....well....THIS is part of the problem with this site...just sayin'
