Variant?
New variant idea with alot of changes to Classic. would add to the naval combat substantially and would intentionally reduce ground forces at the start of the game changing possibly the direction the countries attacked at turn 0

How do you even manage to get enough people together to play the board game IRL?
CommanderByron (801 D(S))

I am in a competitive paintball and airsoft team so we normally play together. We use it to practice tactics as well as have fun.

I'm heading off to college this fall so my board game days are cut substantially short .... short story shorter, now I'm here.

Ah I see. I was looking around to see about buying the board game myself but couldn't find it. I've yet to actually play a face to face game. Something I'd like to do one of these days

It's decent when you have decent people. Look in bookstores, Barnes and Nobles traders tend to have it.

The face-to-face game is a whole difference experience. Negotiating with people face-to-face is so different to just exchanging messages. I do much better in the face-to-face game than I do on here. I find it harder to tell if people are bluffing when all I can see is text.

You can make varietals there, if they become popular enough we'll consider adding them into the main site code shared between webdip and vdip.

So do I need special software to create the variant?

If you're looking for more naval action, I would recommend playing ancient med instead.

Changing a bunch of starting units to fleets might create more naval tensions in the early game, but it's hard to predict how that might upset the balance, and players would likely have a difficult time adjusting to the changes. In the mid to late game, players might anyways revert to more typical long-term strategies by choosing to build more armies to compensate for the initial changes.

The classic map also tends to have its sea territories widely spread out into isolated zones with bottlenecks separating the action. Ancient med emphasizes the naval aspect by offering one major sea zone shared by all of the players.

Additionally, the game is highly abstract and the difference between fighting with fleets vs armies is quite arbitrary. If you made a variant with some ocean territory SCs, and added the ability for armies to "convoy" fleets across land, then the whole army vs fleet distinction would be complete symmetric. Besides the imaginary concept of "ruling the high seas", there's not much special about fleets except the ability to convoy.

I'm just curious how the dynamics would change. For example without fleets around BLA would that mean turkey and Russia make for stronger or weaker allies, with more German navies does that mean Sweden is guaranteed German? More French fleets could make English and French alliance unlikely. Idk it's just a curiosity.

Challenge
I am looking for experienced players to play against so I can learn more and better myself? I realize i am relatively new but I think I have a valid argument for why I should be given the chance. Looking for a classic, PPSC, ANON no messaging game.

So a girl isn't sure about 'breaking up' with a guy and I help her figure it out..
I think I've done it pretty much by the book, but I can't ignore the fact that there's quite a bias: I really like her, and I don't like him. So breaking up happens to be in my favour.
What I wonder is: does this make it wrong? At least consciously, the only thing I care about is helping her do the right thing, and there's definitely something 'cold' between them that wouldn't be there if they love eachother.. I'm pretty sure it would end at some point anyway..

Very minor bug
Very minor issue that probably doesn't affect many people. If you sign in to a banned account (I created an account in error near the beginning, forgetting that I already had one), there's no 'log out' button. I needed to clear the cookies in order to sign in with my real one. Not a big issue but figured it was worth mentioning.
