As much as I really couldn't care less myself, I know a lot of people who'd be rather uncomfortable with it. So what it comes down to is do you want to piss off one group of people for the sake of pleasing another. My guess is that the ones who feel strongly against it probably outnumber those strongly in favour by a significant amount, so I'll vote no for now.

I doubt there's much correlation. In my experience those most strongly opposed to breastfeeding in public are overwhelmingly women.

I'm against breast feeding grown men in public, but not babies.

It's not different from anyone else eating in public, and most people don't even notice.

Whilst I support women's right to breast feed in public Pete U, it isn't quite the same as eating in public. People use the argument that because it's natural, it should be 'allowed' in public. Giving birth, urinating, defecating, having sex, and being naked etc are all natural, but we probably would condone all of them being done in the high street.

You're confusing beliefs with experience. I know quite a few women who are against it and a handful in favour. I don't think I've ever met a man who has professed a strong opinion either way.

Maniac, actually it is the same as me or you drinking a can of pop and munching on a bag of crisps - the 'eating' argument carries weight, whereas I agree the 'natural' one doesn't.

@octavious - you may be right, I am conflating belief and experience. I don't know a single person who objects to Brest feeding in public ( until today) whilst I know many who support it.

The religious not agreeing above is bull. Most religious people have no problem with breast feeding a baby in public provided it is a woman doing it and the baby isn't like 5 years old.

@oscar - there are some freaks who continue breast feeding their kids even after they are talking and walking.

Why would breast-feeding in public be a problem for other people? It seems as if the person who's doing the breast-feeding is pretty inconvenienced herself having to find a public spot to breast-feed.

Damned if I know, but they do. In much the same way a nudist may struggle to understand why non nudists may object to their behaviour, we may struggle to understand why people may find public breastfeeding offensive. This does not alter the fact that many do, however.

Octavious - some people find wearing fur or even leather shoes to be offensive. Should we ban them? Some dislike people driving expensive cars or owning yatchs, should we also ban them? People should learn to accept that not everyone likes what others do, but they should still be allowed to do it.

Indeed they do, which has the potential to cause all sorts of chaos. This is why I have taken the happy position for things I don't really care about of backing the status quo until such time that popular and enthusiastic support swings significantly in the other direction.

Whilst it is true that webdippers are inclined to support it, I dare say it's not a pressing issue for any of us. In the circles I move in the women who would argue passionately against it outnumber those who would argue passionately in favour, so like all men who know what's good for them I am leaning on the side of the fence with the fewest splinters.

Breast milk is very healthy for a baby and pretty cheap, if I was a woman I would breast feed my baby because it is easy, convenient and good for them. If I wasn't embarrassed to do so I would do it in public.
Women do it now and it's cool ..... if she's a MILF you can always ask if she has any to spare :-)
