Where are Sargmacher's multis posted? I'm very curious about a few games I played with him and two or three other players, in which one player repeatedly knuckled under to Sarge rather than considering alliances with other players. It was quite frustrating! lol And re the mods and admins, I've noticed that on this site they are quite, quite lenient, and disciplinary measures are important to the integrity of the entire site. Thanks for all you do, mods and admins!

I really am surprised. I only played with him once but he was good enough to not need to cheat.

I remember feeling that way about Sarg in game too. He got really pissed when his plans didn't work.

bo_sox you know I like you but you are mad. Cheating is a noxious weed that must be stamped out. Multis should only be used to troll the forums (no really, not even for that).

If you look trhough his games you will notice that a lot of his victories are due to his play alone. If you look close you will find some games where there are "other factors" at play. I don't think that considering this new knowledge we can write his skills.

Two furtherthings that I find interesting in this:

1) People have occasionally come out of a game and accused Sarg and myself as being multis due to the way we had cooperated. I find this interesting, that is all.

2) This guy "Talisker" userID=31789 was around before Sarg. He was a new player involved in the live gunboat scene back around January 2011. He and I had an inteeresting relationship - buddy was cocky and I suggested he wasn't as good as he thought, convinced him to use some points in a big non-live game and really test himself. He did, and the result was that he lost his remaining points and had no more ability to play live games. This character then CDed from a couple non-live games and left the site for about a year. Right after this Sargmacher joined - his career began very well, he won some games quick and had a familairity with the site not often found in new players. I had a very sneaking suspicion that these two were the same person. However, Talisker never re-emerged and I did not worry about it.

Then a year or so later Talisker did re-emerge. He was questioned publicly about the resigns and he said that he had a serious accident and was in the hospital. I took this for truth with some skepticism. I checked Sarg's and Talisker's games, there was very little overlap but there was a few. In these few I tried to find foul play from what I was able to see, but nothing jumped out at me at all.

Now, though, we know the truth. So, I wonder what the endgame with that was. The original change of account made sense, but then why re-introduce the other account after Sarg was as established as he was? What was the point? I think both accounts joined a gunboat tournament together at one point - perhaps that was part of it.

Anyway, this is truly a saddening event. I like to continue to think the best of Sarg as I can, I genuinely liked him in many way. But this is just something else....

I had many private discussions with Sarg and felt like I knew him quite well. I was shocked when it was first brought to my attention.

I'd be very interested to see the banned player rate in games on this site. I imagine it's very low in diplomacy games. Paging through my games, the banned players are almost exclusively in gunboats and perdominantly live ones at that.

I know live gb is a key element of this site but it'd be nice to know that the problem is predominantly contained in one game-type. A game-type where people have to be thick skinned in terms of quality of play, CDs, etc.

So my only question is this. Jmo, was he multi'ing on that GB game when he (and you, and most of the civilized world) raged at me for pretending I was his country on the forum?

I'm guessing, Yonni, that cheating doesn't happen in press games because its too easy to discover. No moderator could read my press and ever suspect me of cheating.

If you were multi'ing you just wouldn't be commiting the time to your press with your multi that you need to.

Note that Agent K and Scallywag were multis, and the third banned account being Sarg. It makes 3/7 players in a 5600 game banned. Crazy stuff.

You can include fortknox in that count because we all know he's next to be outed as a multi.

But Yonni, its because when they're in full press games multis and metagamers are easy to sniff out. Just by the way they talk and react. The chattier you are as a player, the better sense you have at detecting multis, because multis won't match the quality nor quantity of your press (and will go for some stupid shit like assisting a solo or a 17-17 draw)

Sorry to be so dumb, butt how does one search for his games? The section under FAQ does not work, presumably because he has been banned.

Find his profile, go to "Help" and get the player up. Banned players don't have user ID's anymore (I don't think), so you'll have to do it manually. Then just scroll through his games. If you were in one, just use your own profile.

This would be an interesting experiment (7 cheaters).

Organize a game and tell each player that *only* he will be able to read everybody's press, when in reality *everybody* will be able to read everybody's press. Wonder how defensive it could get? Wonder if they'd figure it out eventually?

YEEE-HAAA!!! Christmas has come early this year! I'm so glad Sarg has been banned. To be honest, I never suspected him of cheating, but everybody kept wondering why I was badmouthing such a nice guy and calling him a "honey-tongued asshole." Well, I was right! Good riddance, honey-tongued asshole!
