Just a Question...
Who her also plays MTG, and before someone says that they think it is a bad game, I will say Wizards could make improvements to sealed products (not format), but it is overall a great game.

How much do you earn?
I'm curious about two things.

First, how much money do you earn a year, fellow webDippers? What's your salary? Second, how many of you are slightly uncomfortable answering the first question? (and why?)

Diplomacy II Air force Units
I found out that there are rules for the Diplomacy II map that has air units:

Does anyone know of an online site to play the Diplomacy II map with air units?

@ Bo_Sox: The vaccine cannot be produced this phase - we were told it will take "at least" 2 phases.

Then it wouldn't have been on time anyway, so I feel less bad about not doing it before.
Whoops, it seems like my original message responding to CB's OP never went through yesterday. I've been having troubles with that lately on WebDip.
Anyways, I'll retry:

@Jakar:
So to be clear, you found the missing smallpox blanket? Then, you tried to use it as a weapon against the Kowry? Did you manage to get it there? Are the Kowry now facing the same predicament as well?
Can Jakar take a look at our map and lay out where the WTC and Kowry are?

@Banton: Will our Militia work on building projects along with the soldiers if told to?

@Turnbill: Is it possible to convince the Colonists to return to work? We all need to be proactive in facing this threat head on. If people refuse to work, that means our other resources will be stretched to the breaking point, and the disease really will hit us hard, as they fear.

@Franz: I have a few questions. First of all, what did you trade with your trade partners? It is important to have all knowledge of our neighbours as possible.
How did you communicate with the WTC people to trade? Have you learned any of their language? Is it possible to introduce us to your Playdippian contacts? I'd like to open good relations with them, and it seems like you have been doing an admirable job of that.

I'd prefer to keep our territory open. Couldn't we quarantine the colony as a whole, including the fields, rather than confine everyone in the villages? Then we'd be able to keep our food production. This strategy might stretch our soldiers a bit thin, enacting the quarantine over such a large area, but I think the benefits would outweigh the risks.

We definitely need to quarantine any infected colonists, burn any personal organic items and dispose of all dead in a religiously sound way...
We should tell the WTC to do the same.

@CB:
Still no map? What issue are you having with it? Maybe we can help?

(Bo, the recommendation was in fact a joke but for you as literate adults to think that bringing along a dangerous biological weapon would have no ill effects is inherently not my problem. I never forced the council to vote to bring smallpox blankets; I never demanded it or even promised that the blankets would have some mystical positive effects. For some reason the council never argued about the decision which was odd as many of the councilors had prior knowledge of what they were and no one argued against them. If I had jokingly said ha ha request some sex slaves for old times sake and you all brought them along and suddenly a STD spread through your colony should you be mad at me for making a clear joke or mad at yourselves for not being responsible councilors? I think you should be mad at yourselves. )

(PF- map now is outdated I have to draw the additions and such, but my issue is A) lack of time I pulled 70+ hours last week due to a new promotion and will do the same this week. B) my programs for cutting aren't loading correctly; some issue with my computer not the programs themselves I just haven't had the time to get into my Command Prompt and fix the issues. )

Banton- I believe it is possible but even my soldiers are wary of venturing outside of the walls; they have seen what smallpox can do and are afraid of it. Even sending my men outside the walls runs the risk of bringing disease back into the colony. If wary natives arrive mid project and try to communicate with our soldiers they could easily spread the disease. The militia are far less likely to leave the walls. I can think of some building projects within the walls but these will do little aside from increasing defense.

Turnbill- The people are too afraid to want to commit to large projects; they are still willing to work but they want to do so on projects such as fishing which can be done from inside the wall, hunting which allows them mobility and thus safety, and wood gathering which will allow them to stay close to the colony. All of these jobs will be done less productively (-50%) due to fear and low morale, and all but the fishing runs the risk of the plague spreading. I can try but I think the work needed to get these people working again will take atleast an entire phase.

Jakar- I stole the weapon. I took it, I didn't mean for this to happen, I wanted to win back my home. Instead I killed my own people, I never even got to attack the Kowry or metal men with it. I failed my people.

Franz- My WTC trade has been mainly through the use of back channels; hunters and gatherers come to me and I give them food or wood in exchange for whatever valuables they have. My playdipian contact is not legally allowed to trade with me; he collects iron and wood and I give him food. I have a third contact who is not Hall but would like to remain anonymous and he trades with me the silver in exchange for food and when I can get it information on the Kowry.

Banton- I know without an updated map the scope of our colony is very difficult to ascertain but our colony is excessively large and a general quarantine of such an area would be very ineffective with our small military force. Further, as well trained as my men are they are not necessarily immune to smallpox. I highly recommend not weakening our force by placing our men far out from our colony at risk of infection and thus leaving our walls unprotected. we only have 34 soldiers and 15 militia. The farms will still be farmed as usual but at 50% rate as the colonists who do the farming in their free time will be committing far less time. Same goes for the Iron Mine. I also remind the council our ship never arrived it could have been attacked and that attack could very well be coming for us next.

Could we ask Franz to ask playdip if they have a vaccine?
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
18 May 16 UTC
Franz- I can ask my contact but he would have to smuggle it to me, he isn't directly connected to their government yet.
TrPrado (461 D)
18 May 16 UTC
If it's smuggling he might get caught and arrested.
@Banton: What about defending a two Hex radius around the village, rather than the entire territory?
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
18 May 16 UTC
Banton- the same risks apply for the soldiers however it would increase productivity of all structures within the secured area to 75%. Will follow with more details as how it will affect the colony.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
19 May 16 UTC
In the end, the best move is going to be to quarantine everything completely and defend ourselves as well. The point about the ship possibly being attacked is pretty valid and one that I'm genuinely concerned about. It would be just our luck right now that we get attacked.
TrPrado (461 D)
19 May 16 UTC
So, if we quarantine down, should we still have a cannon pointed inland?
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
19 May 16 UTC
Banton- This phase I have very few suggestions regarding the canons.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
19 May 16 UTC
If we are under quarantine, the cannons need to be within our walls because they need to be manned. Given that our walls prevent us from firing inland, they are definitely more useful along the sea.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Well, yes, but you had to assume that there was a pretty significant chance that was coming when you joined the game.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
21 May 16 UTC
Yea I am being in honesty every phase I decrease your odds by removing a happy card or two. So the game is suppose to get progressively better; your council is doing amazing and exceeding my expectations I expected far more inner squabbling and deadlock. Maybe we need Putin33 in the next iteration. ;)
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
21 May 16 UTC
Better=harder. At least when I play games that's how I rate them.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
21 May 16 UTC
Yeah, don't do that.
Can you give us one happy phase every once in a while? We were hardly making food levels before.... :)
Anyways, can you list off what's within the 2 Hex radius of our Village? That was I can get a work allocations prop out.
Also, Banton- If we build the watchtower, would that help you quarantine a larger area?

As for cannons, I'd suggest two pointing out to sea, and one on the wall pointing inland. Naval attack is a distinct possibility. I wouldn't think from Playdippia, but perhaps Pirates?

5 farms- 3 barns- and a coop. All 5 of the farms were upgraded farms.

remember these will only be 75% effective and run the risk of infection.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
21 May 16 UTC
(Bo- I only remove redundant cards, say in my mech I had 6 cards devoted to higher request allocations from the king, then i will slowly remove those. In regards to the event cards those are generally all negative as these should be challenges not rewards. This is in all a survival sim. You are suppose to be managing a colony in a far away land with little resources and obstacles galore. Imagine a much more complicated tower defense game. Every phase is a new wave of enemies and you have time between waves to get ready for the next. If you approach this like a Sim City game then you will hate it. It is a sim, but a sim of a 17th-19th century colony. You haven't had any major environmental issues, and the only serious dilemmas you've had are: Julius attempted a coup, Brother Hall continued the uprise, Jakar attempted to start a war with the Kowry but inadvertently spread a disease. Minor issues: How should capitalism look in your colony (Franz issue); strength of military and military influence (Banton issues); Morale of your people (Julius, Hall, now Turnbill Issues); Inter-state politics (Jakar, Banton Issues).

everything else is basic game mech stuff like requests and work allocations.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))

Julius issues P2-P3
Hall-P4
Jakar/Smallpox- P5
So to be clear, those within the 2 Hex radius could be farmed at 75%, running the risk of infection, but the rest would still be farmed at 50%, without risk?
Oh, also, does Franz' land fall within the two hexes, and if not, what's his opinion on abandoning it for the quarantine?
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
21 May 16 UTC
The ones outside the radius will be farmed at 50%.

Franz- I have sent my family within the walls but I myself will continue to farm my farm

Personally, Venus/Aphrodite is my favorite ancient deity. I believe Aphrodite was closer to the original mother goddess then most, plus the planet Venus is bright and beautiful. Or, we could talk about all these YouTube videos that say aliens are coming, are here, etc.

Ban resulting from misunderstanding
A friend of mine, username SeananFinn, was banned while playing a match with myself and others because we were logged into the same computer. The Game Master should know that every player of that match knows one another, and that we did not log onto the same computer, just the same mainframe server at our school at roughly the same time, which has one monitored IP address. We would appreciate it if someone would unban him before the game moves on. Thank you.
