Not covering Swe was a straight up 50/50. England either hits Swe or Nwy, Nwy either moves to Swe or sits (or goes to Nth with expectation to bounce).

If anything, I'm on the side of not covering Swe... but I'd have covered Moscow. Probably from Ukr because I'm not *that* brave, but imagine Russian Ukr-Rum, War-Mos. Instead of -1 build, that'd be +1 build in Moscow.

I agree Russia should have covered Moscow, but you can see the argument for not doing so if you squint really hard. It was a home run move. If Turkey goes after Austria (which seemed fairly likely), or at least didn't go to Moscow and Sevastopol (Black Sea SH Bulgaria seemed pretty likely) and he gets the 50/50 in Norway/Sweden right, he gets a build and can go northern fleet and really launch the jugg. I think it's a defensible move. And he's not totally dead here. He can get back Moscow pretty easily, and maybe Austria taking Bulgaria will get A/T to fight (maybe not though).

Bad planning by Italy with builds is hurting bad now- with no help from E or G the attack on F is stalemated. If he had just gone double fleet, he would be finishing up flanking France now and into MAO next year. Instead, he sat on the Italian peninsula with too many armies (literally holding in Apulia then going to Rome of all places) and he's stuck.

My question is why in the hell is Norway moving to North Sea. Imagine if he had made it! He'd be down to two centers!

It seems that Austria didn't make such a horrible mistake as you all though.

If russia disbands in the north tobtry get moscow back i think hell lose norway and st pete soon enough. If he disbands ukraine then warsaw probs wont last long even with turkish support. On balance id drop ukraine and try hold on in the north.

France would love to see aeg - ion but does that fleet need to stay home for defence of the homeland......

@uclabb Yeah, I can definitely see the logic for not covering Moscow. Mainly, if 3/4 neighbours are gunning for you, and the other one not in a position to actively help, you're most likely dead anyway. ;-)

@Patburu: *someone* was going to move to North Sea, most likely England. Pretty much guaranteed to bounce. And if bouncing an unsupported England (which is what happened), then that delays England from getting into North Sea. F Nwy Hold was unsupported anyway - so there's no defensive benefit to not moving into a (practically) guaranteed bounce, especially when that bounce has a good chance of improving the situation by preventing English F Nth.

@paulyork64 Maybe. I *think* he was more concerned about Germany taking Belgium. Not an invalid concern - as Germany I would have been thinking hard about it. Probably would also have decided against, but not necessarily.

@leon: Dunno. Turkey now has two builds... and where's the next one going to come from? That's a Fleet in Sevastopol, not an Army. Admittedly, Turkey's going to have a hard time holding on to Moscow, regardless of builds, but that's just another reason to go after Austria properly, not stuff around.


Anyone got guesses on builds? Mine are:

Germany: F Ber
Russia: Disband F Ukr (for the same reasoning of not defending A Mos)
Austria: A Bud, F Tri (? difficult call.)
Turkey: F Con, A Smy/Ank.

How awesome would Turkey's position be right now if he'd convoyed bul-sev?

Germany: F Ber. No other option.
Russia: (perhaps controversial) Keep A Ukr, and use all available remaining resources to retake the motherland. disband F Nor, because germany WILL build F Ber, and you not in a position to expand scandinavian holdings.
Austria: A Bud, F Tri. Fleets for utility against a Turkish or Italian stab.
Turkey: I can only assume you chose to disband A Bul instead of retreating it.. so that you could transmute the unit in Constantinople into a fleet. So: F Con, A Ank.

I like the turkey disband. Even if u want army con it keeps everyone guessing

I liked the aeg - ion move but not so much now there is no fleet to block greece - aegean.

England must now support london to north.

Well butter my biscuits, I have no idea what Turkey is doing anymore. Buildswise, that is.

Seems like Turkey and England have to be paying attention to each other more and more now. England orders F Lon-NTH, with F Hel to support. Turkey might or might not order A Mos-StP, so now Russia has to think about whether F Nwy-StP will bounce, or whether it will actually get in and let England have Norway.

I love how Austria gets to decide whether Turkey keeps Moscow this year.

Since luck has helped the austrian insight, and now Turkey can't really do much but take a defensive stance and hope that someonelse come help him...

the truth is that the table is *yelling* for Russia-Turkey coordination, but

1.I don't know if it's correct to use this thread to arrenge an alliance between gunboat countries.
2.Even if we told both countries which exact moves should they do, they don't seem clever enough to follow our commands.

So germany wants to move berlin fleet into baltic for a supported attack on sweden. So does sweden move baltic to block? So does denmark support the move? So does heligoland block the support?

@paulyork: It's messier than that - North Sea is critical too, as is StP. Russia may go Nwy-Nth again - but maybe not. That whole northern region is a giant tactical mess once you consider the plan all the way out to Fall movement. :-)

Question now is whether Austria, who is pretty solidly fortified throughout his borders, tries to get into Turkey or takes a few italian SC's in order to build another fleet or two before going for Turkey

I think austria should leave italy and france to lock horns for now but he can probs force afleet into ionian by the fall which gives him good options either way. Russia could take moscow and then st pete if turkey retreats there. But even a 4 unit turkey will be a long job to crack.

Austria is strongest but if u offered me choice of country right now id go for england. Only 4 units but interesting opions.
