GoT Variant?
I recently started watching Game of Thrones, and as you can imagine it reminded me of this wretched game quite a bit. Has anyone thought of making a variant based on Westeros? Does one already exist?

Bernie Sanders kicked out of hippie commune for laziness
http://freebeacon.com/politics/bernie-sanders-asked-leave-hippie-commune/

Raises the question in my mind of what will be done (if anything) with people who refuse to work in the socialist society Bernie and his supporters wish to impose. Forced labor camps? Expulsion from the country? Revocation of their EBT card and Section 8 subsidies? Or nothing?

The Trump Effect
Recently I've been hearing several left leaning souls start talking about the likelihood of them voting Trump now that the Bern has been all but extinguished. What I am curious about is why. What is it about Trump that makes him the lesser of two evils?

Just a basic question!
What does voting to 'Cancel' mean? what do you cancel when you vote for it?
And, how does Pause work? when you pause, how do you resume the game? is it paused for a specific amount of time or do you vote to un-pause later?

First Time Prom.
Help me WebDip, you're my only hope.

Seriously, though, I am a male junior, and found out today that the person on my mind has me on hers. Prom is in 2 weeks. I have not asked her, and fear that the window has shut on this opportunity. Even if I did go (all my buddies want me to go) I would have no idea what to do, what to say, or where to go.

Actually, I think playing in the study group would make sense. You're right on the line between a decent player and someone who could become one of the better players on the site. Once you've played in the study group and gotten some consistent commentary on your play, I don't think we would have any reservations.

I'm not sure what skill/experience level is correct for the study group. I could play.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
21 Apr 16 UTC
Usually the study group is reserved for a more intermediate level of player who feel that they are good enough to compete on a regular basis with some of the best but still want some help at getting better. I think you would be a good alternate for the primary SoW game though, Zybodia.
Gobbledydook (1389 D(B))

I think I will resume my role as play by play caster and direct questions.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
21 Apr 16 UTC
Though, Zybodia, if you think you're up for the study group game, I'll let you play in it since there's no spots left in the primary game.
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)
21 Apr 16 UTC
I think Zybodia is a great candidate for the study group game - a 7% win rate is around what we'd expect given random performance from all players. To me, this squarely puts them in the intermediate category.

(for reference, 57% of our classic games end in solos - dividing that by 7 gives around 8% expected win rate, if players don't have any significant impact on the results of the game).
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

paulyork64 (351 D)

57% solos. is much higher than i'd have thought
aha195 (1687 D)

I do concur that seems awfully high
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)

Some more details:

The mean win rate on webdip is 4.8%.

The vast majority of players have 0% win rate (12,158 / 20,804 users who have played a game). This means the median win rate is 0%.

Here's a frequency plot of the win rates of all users with more than two games, ignoring users with 0% win rate:

http://imgur.com/nBDjCYL
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)
21 Apr 16 UTC
The spikes in the plot represent win rates of users who haven't played many games, eg users who have played 3 games and won one of them have a 33% win rate. We have a lot of users who have completed three games:

http://imgur.com/DzHuqjQ

(note the log scale on the y axis)
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)
21 Apr 16 UTC
I think (but haven't checked) that the solo rate has actually gone down in the last couple of years - I think it was over 60% in 2013.
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)
21 Apr 16 UTC
Ah yeah - I found the graphs I made in June 2015. I've shared these before, but here they are again:

http://imgur.com/a/5K69y

These are just for DSS games (previously called WTA). As expected, there are fewer solos in DSS, although solos are still the most common outcome. Predictably, there are also fewer two ways in gunboat, and more solos.

It looks like I looked at the trend in solo rate too, and found there wasn't really one:

http://imgur.com/bWshlDc

(the y-axis is mislabelled there, 1.0 is actually 100%).

Modern Diplomacy Game with 5 teams
Hello guys, I´m intending to do a Modern Diplomacy Game with 5 teams. 10 players, but without any communications inside de game. The only way to communication is talking to this real person by email, whatsapp, etc.
But to have equation, balance, one should have just another guy in his team. Not a 3 person team. This will work? ANyone want to participate?
