March madness 2013!!!
In this 2013 basketball season it has been filled with upsets and well the battle of the better teams. I personally think the final four will be Michigan state Spartans, Indiana Hoosiers, Florida gators, and Michigan wolverines. Now knowing selection Sunday hasn't happened I thought I would have a little college basketball talk with people over America or out side who follow the college basketball association. What do people think will happen in the tournament. Thoughts?

e e cummings variant game
In the thread: threadID=982959 - hecks made an excellent proposal:

"An e e cummings variant game. Public press only, no capitalization, no punctuation, all comments must be made in deliberately vague e e cummings style poems."

You probably didn't meet a lot of people then. I don't own a TV and consider it more evil than video games, by the way. I never had any issues of my own with addiction of any kind.

Also Krellin you still havent addressed the fact that you are a foul-mouthed, horrible person and you give webdip and yourself a terrible image with your outbursts (the ones that started this argument I mean, and the ones you directed at me before)
Jamiet99uk (808 D)

You're calling him foul mouthed, when one of your contributions to this thread was:

"CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT" ?

Seriously?

Ahhhhh ha ha ha! SYnapse PM'ed me this message: "Fight me" Wow...seriously?

SYnapse...don't make wild-ass accusations that someone is a bad parent and I won't insult you 20-30 times...though I did not insult you...I just accurately described what you are. A FUCKTARD. A JACKASS. A MORON. None of these are insults; they are just accurate descriptions.

SYnapse doesn't own a TV now....yes, he sits in his cave trolling forums and masturbating. The picture is becoming clearer by the moment,. SYnapse is the true sociopath, social deviant, paranoid pervert....

@SY - There is nothing wrong with gaming. If you are some religious nut whack job, I will point you to Ecclesiates: To every thing there is a season. A time to every purpose under Heaven.

Movies, TV, Video games - the are forms of recreation and art. No different from literature except that they can reach (and be used to help) the illiterate.

You may disagree and that is your opinion. I have no desire to argue with a fool who still lives in the 19th century.

@MoW: Now that is an excellent suggestion. Set up an arena (the Diploseum?) where those who wish to can stand toe to toe and battle their own personal demons.

I'm not religious at all. All the assumptions that are being made about me are wrong.

SOME games are art. The vast majority are not. Noone learned any kind of philosophical lessons from Black Ops except perhaps that all Arabs are worthless animals. No artistic merit was produced in Crysis. Please don't give me this kind of shit.
SYnapse (0 DX)
13 Mar 13 UTC
I'd say the closest a game has got to engaging the areas I would like games to engage is Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, and the most artistic games I can think of are Prince of Persia or Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. The VAST majority of games are rapidly produced commercial titles, particularly made for multiplayer gameplay which has absolutely zero educational value.
SYnapse (0 DX)
13 Mar 13 UTC
That said, you won't die if you play a few video games. But that doesn't mean they're good for you. I enjoy a Coke every now and then, but I wouldn't recommend it to anybody in particular.

Re the sociopath/TV stuff above. Before I took off for where I am now, I lived in the middle of a forest in the Highlands of Scotland. No TV? No electricity. Toilet? No running water. Amenities? One post office in the nearest village 6 miles away down a dirt track.
One of the best times of my life.
ulytau (541 D)

The vast majority of fictional literature has even less artistic merit than mainstream games, shamelessly degrading every facet of ancient epics that made them great and everlasting. While even the simplest additions to long-standing game series push the boundaries of the genre by experimenting with new features and graphical improvements, most bestsellers are but a mere rehash of a story that was already told countless times, in precisely the same shape and form, just with a mildly different backdrop to instill the idea of originality. Finding a book of fiction worth reading is much more difficult than finding a game worth playing.
krellin (80 DX)
13 Mar 13 UTC
The guy that spends all his time reading, writing and drawing...sure has played a lot of video games that he is such a critic of artisticness, etc. In other words...SYnapse is just a liar who can't keep his story straight. and he jacks off...a LOT...

And he somehow thinks *his* mindless pursuits...drawing????...has mor merit than an interactive social media that - taken in small doses - is entertainment. Oh...but out private little deviant masturbating in his corner with his crayons is so much more enlightened than we are...<rolls eyes...>

Jack on, SYnapse, you closeted game-addicted social deviant freak fucktard.

No doubt SYnpase is a role model for one of the deviants on "The Following"....better watch out...he has a violent streak.
SYnapse (0 DX)
13 Mar 13 UTC
Drawing, reading and writing aren't mindless pursuits, krellin. I don't think you'll get anyone here to agree with you on that.

I also lift weights and play music. Care to bash me about those too? Let's face it the only achievement you will ever have is pissing people off. Well done.
krellin (80 DX)
13 Mar 13 UTC
Drawing and writing - purely self-indulgent, and have no more value than playing a video game. Weight lifting...lunkhead...*certainly* has little to no value, and "playing music"....oh yes, these are all such very noble pursuits. So much better than spending an hour enjoyig a game. Bravo...you are a superior intellect....Baaaa ha ha ha ha ha!! God, what a FUCKTARD! You think video games are the root of all evil, and these are your great alternatives? Playing music while pumping up? Jackass!
krellin (80 DX)
13 Mar 13 UTC
Where are you great writings published? Where is your great artwork displayed? Or do they not have galleries for self-portraits of SYnpase masturbating? And magazines to publish his stories of self-flagellation...? I wonder if you enjoy the dark closet you live in with all your sad self-indulgent pursuits...

We have to learn to live with ourselves. I'm still working on it.
Birds don't shit on you (often, unless you're really unlucky).
Animals don't shit on you (unless they're really big and then they just shit you out).
Who shits on you?
(By way of explanation: In the forest, I met a BIG cat which looked like a panther. We looked at each other for some time and then decided to go about our separate endeavours. Would that be likely with a human? Depends, doesn't it. Touch and go.)
Who shits on you?

Krellin look at it this way: I have a benchpress of around 85kg and a free-weight squat of 125kg. I can play Chopin on the piano, I'm a pretty accomplished artist, and I'm very familiar with the classics as well as contemporary philosophy and literature (although I don't follow poetry very much).

You are a lot more close to your description of "trolling forums and jacking off" than I am.
SYnapse (0 DX)

I'm only 23 years old Krellin, and my first book will be published this year.
steephie22 (182 D(S))

And then there's the computer.
krellin (80 DX)
13 Mar 13 UTC
Oh....lunkhead can lift weights. OH boy....I'm sure that is useful when you are hiding bodies of children in your closet.

You can play the piano...good job...so can my WoW-playing daughters, who paly a variety of instruments, as do I. So...apparently we are MORE accomplished than you...we can suffer through terrible, life-destroying video game addiction and STILL accomplish what you have done. We have painted a mural on my daughters bedroom wall...we all participate in athletics, even together as a family...we must have found a way to stretch time!!! So we are btriliant physicists, as well, bending time to accomplish all EVEN WHILE terribly addicted to a video game that destroys lives...

But...I confess...we don't have time to sit in a closet and jack off like you do...you've got us beat on that.
krellin (80 DX)
13 Mar 13 UTC
SYnapse...sure it will. Keep telling yourself that. Care to make up anything else about yourself?
steephie22 (182 D(S))
13 Mar 13 UTC
SYnapse, even if you publish a book this year, that's not really a feat...

What doea your name mean?
Some people have obvious references to historical or fictional characters, others are some form of their name (like mine, my name really is Phil) but for those with more cryptic names, I'm curious where they came from.

Some that I know from previous posts - draugnar is Tolkien elvish for some kind of wolf, Nigee is a name one of his friends used to call him, etc. But what about Bosox, mapu, sbyvyl, redhouse, abgemacht, etc. ?

The Most Conservative Contest
The question is: Who on the WebDip forums is the most Conservative? It shouldn't be too hard to figure out, as there are only a handful of Conservatives on this site (Krellin, Draug, ConservativeMan and myself come to mind). So in order to figure it out, we will post our positions on the issues here, and let the others decide.
