We should teach scientific theories in science class

We should teach various creation mythes in comparative religion class

We should not pretend that creationism is a scientific theory. It fails on several levels... As does fsm/pastafarianism. We should perhaps explain why this isn't science in a philosophy class.

OK, if not in science class then at least at school. Give them a philosophy class to at least hear other beliefs, other than the ones we currently think are scientifically acurrate are true.

This is already done. A lot of HSs and almost every college have philosophy and comparative religion courses.

HC, did they say 'your religious theories are stupid'? Or did they teach you something that didn't agree with your theories and, hence, implied that they were stupid?

@HC Some high schools do have that kind of class. You have to bring up to your school board or whatever to teach that.

In your original post, you write 'theory' as though it refers to a hunch or suspicion. In normal usage, the word 'theory' does mean these things, but when we're talking about The Theory of Evolution (or *any* scientific theory), that's not what the word means. When we're doing science, the word 'theory' refers to a set of principles that describes observable phenomena, so evolution is a theory in the same way that Earth orbiting The Sun is a theory - not an unproven idea at all, but a proven fact.

Yes, I agree that we should teach those theories. I was arguing at the point that all ideas should be mentioned. Not just one as a fact and teachers need to point out that this is a theory and a loose one at that. Here is a fact I have read from an article about TBBT. If it were true than all matter should be equally dispersed not clumped. If you sit a bomb in the middle of a water melon it does not explode in different proportions in all different directions. It would explode in perfect unison with all matter being displaced at the same speed in all directions. Plus the universe is too large for TBBT to explain it all matter would have to be traveling faster than the speed of light to keep TBBT true.
