Webdiplomacy interface preventing legal move to Sevastapol from Armenia via land.
In a game I am currently in, the web diplomacy interface is not allowing me to order a Turkish Army to move via land into Sevastapol. When I try to select this order it states, "viaConvoy parameter set to invalid value No" Is this a known error? While I know that it would be unreasonable for me to expect an immediate fix for this error, I would greatly appreciate it if

Panic--Unable to issue orders
I've tried to save/ready orders from IE8, Firefox, and Chrome on my windows 7 machine (from which up until now I've been able to) and the page just seems to hang even if I leave it for ~5 mins. Same result from Firefox and Chrome on my Ubuntu machine.Obviously I can post messages so I don't know what's going on...Anybody have ideas to help?

Live, but not at such a frantic pace
I have often wanted to play live, but not at such a frantic pace as five minute turns. Doesn't leave much time for diplomacy.
I wonder if there are others who would like to "play live" for a couple hours and then finish up on a 12 hour or 24 hour schedule.
Has anyone suggested that before? Is there a list of players somewhere who are interested in such an arrangement?

Multi-Account Check, Game ID 49803
What's the procedure for requesting a multi-accounting check? Please take a look at Game ID 49803. France is going to win. I'd just like to make sure that it was a fair win given that Italy supported him throughout the entire game. Thank you.

"My point was that Canada was that Canada's troops were of better quality, not that we would win in a fight. "

Then why do you need to give Canada 10 times its current population and ignore America's nuclear arsenal? If your point is that you have higher quality then neither of those fantasy rules you made up make any sense.

For goodness sakes Fasces349, just admit your military is not comparable to the United States. That doesn't mean that it's not a highly skilled organization which often demonstrates great heroics. It's just apples and oranges here. You don't have aircraft carriers or military space shuttles or stealth bombers or drones or trained-bomb-planting-dolphins or even a single nuclear weapon. I mean, it's just no contest.

Actually, if the US army had a budget 10 times the size of what it is now (to account for the population difference), it could spare some bucks on turning cuddly mammals into Shahids of the Free World.

Then again, a multipurpose beer-opening cat with stealth is fine too.
Fasces349 (0 DX)
06 May 11 UTC
what? US already has the worlds 3rd largest population...
Fasces349 (0 DX)
06 May 11 UTC
times it by 10 and you have almost half the world living in America...
Actually, we do have military dolphins

http://usmilitary.about.com/cs/navy/a/navydolphin.htm

There are probably other better articles on it
and they are trained to either harpoon swimmers or inject them with pressurized CO2. Or they find mines and lost torpedos or attach magnetic explosives to the underside of a ship...or so it says
Gunfighter06 (224 D)
06 May 11 UTC
"Mk 6 dolphins"? The navy has a designation for a living animal? Does anyone else find it strange to have a designation for a living animal?

I remember something about dolphins being employed as minesweepers in Vietnam, but I did not know the navy still used them.

Yeah, Fasces, our Mk 6 dolphins will harpoon your swimmers, inject them with CO2, find your mines and lost torpedoes, and plant bombs on your ships!

I think one single global gourvernement for the earthling wouldn't be ggod since it is better to have a foreign point of view. I am french, but I like reading press articles from others countries to get a different point of view from french media. Plus if the gouvernement of the World start to be autocratic, censorship being the rule, we wouldn't have any source of criticism. We need at least three different countries.

But to come back to the purpose of the thread, the smaller the country is, the nearer people are from the politics, the better they can ply a role in the politic life of the country.
chamois (136 D)
06 May 11 UTC
and saying wikipedia is not a reliable source is like saying linux is not a good operating system since everybody can develop it.

agree, so your with me in that city state good, empire bad?
chamois (136 D)

I think both have drawbacks : if you work in a public sector or as a lawyer in city state, you haven't a lot of choice in place you can live.

I would like to have a replacement to the UN modeled on the original view of the US (a collection of independent states with a weak central government).

"I think both have drawbacks : if you work in a public sector or as a lawyer in city state, you haven't a lot of choice in place you can live."
Were not talking about public vs private, were talking about small countries vs large countries. You can just move, like anyone can move, as long as you find a job in your new city state...

I wasn't trying to belittle the Canadian Armed Forces. Quite the contrary I think it is well known that Canada has one of the best trained armies in the world. I was just trying to debunk Fasces's claims that Canada could win with numbers alone if they had them.
chamois (136 D)
06 May 11 UTC
@Fasces349 : For instance if you succeed in a contest to be a public school teacher in China, you can work in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Tibet etc...
if you managed to be a public school teacher in Monaco, you can work only in Monaco (not a lot of options you see). So for an engineer that isn't a problem he can switch from different countries as he want, but for lawyers, public teachers etc. they'd better live in a large country if they want to get more choice.
Fasces349 (0 DX)
06 May 11 UTC
Thats not completely true, if your a grad from Princeton Law School, you could become a lawyer where ever you want, you would probably rather live in the states, but if you really wanted to you could work in Malaysia, Monaco, China, etc. The same would apply in a world of city states.
Draugnar (0 DX)
06 May 11 UTC
Yes, but chamois'point is you would have to pass the bar in those countries. So, in a sense, it is true. And law varies so radically from country to country that passing Greece's bar exams (just cause I know hellalt is a lawyer in Greece) would be radically different from passing of the bar exams of one of the states in the US. Unlike medicine or engineering, which are sciences and don't vary, the law is different in every country.
Fasces349 (0 DX)
06 May 11 UTC
That is a good point...
Fasces349 (0 DX)
06 May 11 UTC
However the same thing could be said about the states, how cause the laws differ from state to state, why would a lawyer who grads from a university in one state be allowed to work in another.
Draugnar (0 DX)
06 May 11 UTC
@Fasces - what university you go to is irrelevent in law. It's where you take the Bar Exams. And while the details in the law vary from state to state, they still conform to certain standards set by Federal statutes and US universities don't teach law specific to the state in which they are located.
chamois (136 D)
06 May 11 UTC
That's a problem the centralized countries don't have.

I seriously doubt that. As a law firm I would much rather higher someone who graduated form an Ivy League school then from a non-Ivy league school...

Okay, so far I'm liking it. It does seem to load pages MUCH faster than 3.6.x. And they do claim their new javascript engine is much faster too. I'd be really interested to hear from someone playing a World map game to hear if it does indeed work better for calculating the enumerable convoy routes.
