I can provide you dozens of people that would say that. Most of my family are educators. Most of their friends are educators. I grew up surrounded by educators.

But it's nice to see that your whole bleeding heart liberal, save the planet and make it a better place is just an act. Nothing more than lip service.
TrPrado (461 D)

The kids being part of the reason to become an educator doesn’t you can’t leave for personal reasons if you need to. That’s why I don’t blame teachers for leaving Oklahoma. It’s essentially impossible to survive off of it alone.

Nothing wrong or immoral for needing to eat.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)

The personal reasons mentioned shows clearly the person was not in education for the right reasons.

They probably thought it would be cool to get all the holidays and summers off and it was pretty easy work and found out it wasn't all that.

Anyone truly committed to being an educator knows all the issues going in and still does it anyways.

"Nothing wrong or immoral for needing to eat."

I've known dozens of educators and they never went hungry or missed a meal.

I didnt leave because teaching was unfulfilling. I recall the day I decided I wanted to move a new direction I pulled off the road bawling my eyes out driving thru kansas city. It was just last november after thanksgiving. I made a decision that I missed my friends. Missed my family. I was miserable and completely broke. The work was becoming repetitive and tedious. I enjoyed teaching dtawing and art appreciation but I also felt disillusioned. I still dont know if I made the right choice but I made it nonetheless. Theres days where I ask myself if I made a mistake.-
But I look around at my life, everyones getting married, having families. Buying houses. And im completely lost. But at least im financially able to survive.

I have my own place now. Something id never had when I was teaching. I make art. I make poetry. I dont feel like my time teaching was a waste but I also think I lingered too long in a rut. And had to adjust to my own life needs

I think you said a lot of pretty harsh things assuming im just some internet troll. I can assure you that I am very much a human being who dedicated half a decade to teaching and sacrificed tremendous amounts of myself to try to make it work. I dont think you can understand who I am just based on some political opinions I have on webdiplomacy.net. i have friends who are very conservative. Youve made it quite apparent by these posts you are bullying me for things that have nothing to do with my political opinions. Thats pretty sad you think im just some lifeless troll
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
23 Oct 17 UTC
I don't think you are an internet troll.

I just don't think you were cut out to be an educator. That's not a harsh judgement at all. Not everyone is cut out for it.

I know what it takes. As I've said several times now, my family is filled with educators. I grew up surrounded by educators. I currently work for a school district making about 60% of what I could doing the same job in the private sector.

I had an A rating on rate my professor .com. i had excellent evaluations for years. I was teaching at a four year college. I didnt get there by being lousy at my job. I didnt get there lacking the drive or desire.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)

True drive and desire keeps someone truly cut out to be an educator in the job for far longer than a whole five years.

“I've known dozens of educators and they never went hungry or missed a meal.”

Where? It sure as hell ain’t Oklahoma.

Places with similar starting salaries as Oklahoma

Oh so places that require second and third jobs just to pay rent month to month?
TrPrado (461 D)
23 Oct 17 UTC
Places that drive people out of state just so they can become financially stable?
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
23 Oct 17 UTC
No. but many took jobs during the summer instead of hanging out at the pool.

You know, working 12 months a year like most of the world.
TrPrado (461 D)
23 Oct 17 UTC
Oh, so not like Oklahoma whatsoever, then. If supplementing downtime salary is harsh then they don’t know the worst the job can offer.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
23 Oct 17 UTC
Like I said earlier, which you clearly failed to comprehend, places with almost identical starting salaries as Oklahoma.

So yeah, pretty much just like Oklahoma.

Seeing as Oklahoma has one of the lowest cost of living rates of any state it's a pretty good starting point.

Most teachers go to Texas, which is much more liveable despite having higher cost of living.
TrPrado (461 D)

The low cost of living should be an indicator that there’s a massive problem.

Brainbomb, you have to understand you're discussing with someone who hates intellectual activities with a white hate burning hatred. Life as an academic is one of the most difficult there are out there and very very few have the determination and the grit to do what you did, BB. Most people simply do not understand that their entire civilization is built on the intellectual labor of people who worked extremely long and hard in a near monastic lifestyle to produce the accumulated knowledge our civilization now has in its grasp. Trust me, it is way way way harder than peeling potatoes in ship somewhere.

No, no one gets a teaching position by being bad as a scholar.
TrPrado (461 D)

It’s part of a highly public trend lmao

“Lynn Gray, an economist with the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, shared employment statistics with the World that showed in the first quarter of 2016 — the latest data available — 440 people employed in the sector of the economy that houses K-12 and higher education left the state for a job in a neighboring state. The data does not specify which job those people held in Oklahoma.”

http://kfor.com/2017/07/25/theres-nothing-else-to-give-oklahoma-teacher-leaving-classroom-after-18-years/

““It’s not only financial. It’s just the lack of respect that this state has for its teachers and its students,” Teel told KJRH. “It’s not about Booker T anymore. It’s about the fact that financially, I can’t do any more. “I can’t work enough to make ends meet. My own family has suffered for years because I’m never at home, I’m always working. My students have started to suffer.””

http://m.newsok.com/article/5553933

“Chesher admits she didn't enter the profession to make lots of money, and she does consider her job a "calling." But she is already wondering how many years she can realistically do the job in Oklahoma.”

We should definitely pay teachers more in Oklahoma, but as for Ogion, intellectuals the right has no problem with.

the problem most on the right (whom I know) have a problem with is intellectuals who believe they're superior to the working class, despite demanding that the tax system pay for their food, college, housing, etc.

intellectuals who produce and work, no problem

intellectuals who demand free stuff and act pretentious, problem
KansasBoyd (25 DX)

“ you have to understand you're discussing with someone who hates intellectual activities with a white hate burning hatred. ”

So I stated multiple times that my family is full of educators, I grew up surrounded by educators and I currently work for a school district but have a white hot burning hatred for intellectual activities?

LOL!!!

Incredible reading comprehension as always.

Oklahoma was cursed ever since it was stolen from the Native Americans. All the 'white' and 'brown' and 'black' and 'asian' folks (and any other non-native folks) should pack up and leave to texas or some place else and give it back.

liberal media brings Richard Spencer the attention he seeks
thus they are promoting white supremacy. Therefore the liberal media supports the white supremacist movement. So it is the liberal media that are the true white supremacists. notice how it is the liberals here that are also 'white' and are pushing the movement.

Hello, I have a problem
Hello, I have a problem. I am currently participating in a couple of games, one no-talk and anonymous. My problem is that on the 22nd to the 27th (or 28th), I might have no ability whatsoever to play. I obviously can't tell that to the other players. Is there a solution to this that doesn't require me sliding into a CD?

There's a great feature on this site that lets you play the 34 player chaos variant, where every supply centre on the classic map is an independent great power. What you do is use the site like you normally would, but log in to vdiplomacy.com instead of webdiplomacy.net. It's a weird bug having to log in twice, but I'm sure they're working on fixing it.
