KA, m'lad, some women are beautiful and wondrous people,
others are shrews, termaginants, whores, bloated selfish bores etc
like us they are a varying mix of all the human virtues & failties.
The keeping of a woman, or women,
& the inevitable children you choose to sire with them
is an expensive ( emotionally & financially ) hobby for a man,
it's far cheaper to own an ocean going racing yacht.
A specific piece of advice on the "let's still be friends" caper
That's got too much pain in it for you so soon after the breakup
so be blunt with her on that, I suggest you tell her you :
1 would desire to always have fond thoughts of her despite the terrible injury she has done to you, that you would regret hating her for that injury & the pain you feel
2 that if she has ANY remaining tenderness toward you, SHE will allow you the time,
space & privacy to heal yourself & keep a respectful distance from you
Having communicated that to her, then do not seek her out, you should avoid her & her society.
That relationship,as lovers, is ended.
Value yourself, deal with the grief & mourning, & get on with your life.
There's tougher stuff ahead for you, and hopefully better times as well.

There is often nothing better than finding a new lover to ease the loss of a former lover

it would be the blackest tragedy to never know love
think on this KA, loving someone for a lot lot longer, then losing them
I met a nice old Polish lady recently and although we only talked for 20 minutes or so,
I cannot describe the terrible lonliness she must now endure
she is in her nineties, and all alone after a long & ( mostly ) happy marriage
she met her husband in the turmoil of Europe in 1944/ 1945
