So how does this tournament work? How is the next round determined?

there is both a fairfax and a ffax on there, and I got the wrong one. In my defence, i'm sure it was fairfax earlier in this thread.

fyi - the is an Android App for gameknot that will give you a notification when you have a move to make.

I just installed it - I assume it works....I'm waiting for my victim to make his next mistake :P (lol) to see if the notification comes.

I downloaded it yesterday and it works. You get an e-mail too though when you haven't had one since the last time you logged on. So if your mobile gives a notification for that too you might get 2 notifications, but thorough is good right :)

and a nice icon in the top when there's a move to be made, that's the reason why I keep the app mostly; that way you know if the mail you got is about chess or not :)

@abgemacht: someone said that the next round winners play against winners, losers against losers, and drawers against drawers I suppose if possible, but other than that random.

I was thinking that we could speed the tournament up a little bit if you start round 2 as soon as you finished your game and someone else finished his and has the same result. So if krellin and I win tomorrow we play against eachother and you (abgemacht) play against whoever krellin plays against.

That's just my idea though.

Steephie, the problem with that is that it would probably create a bias where people who move fast tend to play against each other more. The way I was thinking we could potentially speed it up is by playing two games at once but staggering the second one. That means the second game would also be played against completely random people but then the third game would be where we start playing winners against winners etc. Though I am not sure if that works or not.

Fast against fast doesn't bother me as a bias. Besides, it could also be a sign of strength/weakness: after all you most likely win or lose quickly. So I think it would be a bit more 'fair' and faster the second round if we do it this way.

How much rounds are we doing anyway?

Of course, we should only do it if everybody wants it. If they do, we can just start a new round every week or so without waiting for the others to finish since everybody plays against everybody anyway. Every 2 weeks if we want slower.

I would support doing it as an apa with regular start times.

I may be missing something here but wouldn't the advantage of doing it the way we are doing it now instead of apa usually be the time restraints. Please correct me if I'm wrong there but apa would seem like the most fair method. Plus if we can play more than one game at a time then it would actually be faster than doing six rounds one after another.
