I have a player that will be out for a month of the tournament, but would like to continue after that. Would anyone be willing to take over his games until he comes back? Otherwise I will have to replace him. Let me know, here or email me to [email protected]. Thanks!

Seeing suspicious behavior in game title 'Anone game' gameID=54780 looks like a Russian/German alliance in an anonymous game with no messaging... can the mods check this out and reassure me. Thanks.

longest games
Hi, I'm a player in Wittlesbach Interruption and we are on Spring 1916. Since I've started playing online Diplomacy I've noticed most games end around 1907 give or take a year. We're at 1916 and the leading player has only 11 SC. We are also on our third leader in this game. Anyone else play a very long game?

Regular reports of cheaters in games posted on the forum
Here's a little bit of advice for all the new / inexperienced guys out there. If you do your homework before or at the start of a game, you don't have to worry about joining these types of games becoming a problem. What I mean by "doing your homework" is to check the profile of the guys with whom you're playing (so long as it isn't an anonymous game). Here are some things on what to look for:

did the zero SC survive get fixed or do you have to have a unit to get it?
I just took a nations last SC for the win, but they got eliminated. I physically took it in the spring forcing a disband so I'm guessing you either have to have a unit to get the survive or the problem was fixed.

Thank you guys.

IKE: I think we both did very good games.
The tournament rules say that the victory is mine but only the last tie breaker was made the decision.
So, the victory could be mine, yours or for both of us.

This was an excellent tournament and I have played some fantastic games. From the games I have played, the 2nd game of my semi-final group (gameID=45564) was probably the most challenging.

I hope to see you all in the next tournament :D

So when does this turnament start?
I believe trip is planning on running this again in September and that Geofram's will begin around the beginning of May.

Is there an official ranking for the finals? I think I came 7th since I was eliminated in all 3 games but would be interesting to see the final rankings.

Also would be interesting to see each person's seed at the tournament's start.

i would like to see my seed:D
Interesting note is that of the 7 finalists, two of us were the 27th and 28th seeds entering the tournament.

Does this turnament start today??
gramilaj (100 D)
06 Apr 11 UTC
I had to get a solo in that game to win the tourny, so I tried my hardest to entice a stab out of F or G, with supports into Munich for 3-4 years running. Then when I wasn't able to get a whisper of dissension between the two, I drew with two players who would have been eliminated, hoping to punish "too tight alliance" play. Turns out the too tight alliance was the two soloers, so there was no way either of them was looking to break the game open a bit. I thought Germany (IKE) could have easily taken 2 dots from France without provoking a "I'm gonna throw this" response. France couldn't have gone anywhere without me crawling all over him.

when does the turnament start? How long is the phase's of the game?. is there in game messagng?
tennille - this is the thread for the completed tournament. For information on the next one please check here threadID=707570. It won't be starting today.

How would Gemany take centers from me without compromising our alliance...? that would make me give you the solo... you just needed the Italian centers and 2 from me (Tunis and spain or Mar).
gramilaj (100 D)
06 Apr 11 UTC
You wouldn't have given up Spain or Mar, I think. Let's say Germany stabbed in spring with a move to Nth and Nwg, and he has Edi in the bag for fall. In the fall you do a total recall, but can only move 1 of your 4 fleets through MAO at a time. By the time he can demonstrate friendly intentions again, you're in Eng, MAO, maybe Por an Spain. You couldn't move past the stalemate line fast enough for me to get there.

I think had he taken Edi and then supported himself to hold, you wouldn't have throw the solo. Maybe two is stretching, but 1 center is easily within his reach.
Troodonte (3379 D)
06 Apr 11 UTC
He wouls free belgium and it would make me move in fall immediatly there, which he wouldn't cover to support himself to edi.
Burgundy would be free and he could move there, but it would make it impossible for us to have friendly relations again...so you would get the solo, I think.
Troodonte (3379 D)
06 Apr 11 UTC
Besides...if he move to burgundy he would open munich...

He wouldn't build as I would take belgium (we swap centers)
And he would be able to support himself to belgium as kiel needs to be supporting munich to stop you from crossing the stalematelie...

Honestly... I think that this is what would happen.
IKE (3845 D)

Tro you won the tourney & get 600 D to boot. Trip should get a tip, say 100 D. Just a thought:)
Troodonte (3379 D)
06 Apr 11 UTC
I'm not sure if it is up for me to decide how points are split.
But if I can decide I will give 100 D to trip for his great job and split the rest with you...
Afterall the final was a 2 way draw ;)

I'll leave it to the tournament director, but if I can have any role in the decision I'll prefer it like this.
gramilaj (100 D)
06 Apr 11 UTC
@Trood Kiel S Sil to Mun, Pru-Berlin, Mun to Ruhr. The Russian centers were lost as soon as I was in Boh and Tyr. Though it's this sort of grab it if you can thinking that left me hanging in the wind with no allies.
Troodonte (3379 D)
06 Apr 11 UTC
I think that IKE would never risk those moves.
sil - mun supported by kiel could bounce your 2 armies (tyr and boh) leaving munich open and allowing burgundy the belgium option or the option to support you to munich...

I'm not saying that it wasn't possible for germany to get 1 center from me... I just think he wouldn't risk it...
Personaly if I was germany I wouldn't do it.
gramilaj (100 D)
06 Apr 11 UTC
But he would have an army in Belgium, so he could cover both Belgium and Mun. And you would be crazy to support me into Munich, would you seriously consider that an option?
gramilaj (100 D)
06 Apr 11 UTC
Sorry I mean Berlin. And I would have had to take the Russian and Italian centers before I could try to rush past the stalemate lines. I would have taken the risk, but I can understand not taking it. I guess I didn't understand propping up the Russian and Italian for so long when the points in these games is based on draw size. Though seeing that both of you had the solo, it made more sense.

My final decision is:
Troodonte: 265 D
IKE: 265 D
trip: 100 D

Troodonte (3379 D)
07 Apr 11 UTC
Not that it means much, but it is interesting to see that the 2 winners were #2 and #3 in GRanking and that the #1 was subsituted in the final by the #2 :)
Wouldn't it be fun if there was a GhostRank that only counted gunboat games. Would certainly be interesting to see that.

I guess IKE or Troo would probably be 1st.
trip (696 D(B))
07 Apr 11 UTC
Thanks for the tip, Troo and IKE.

...and 48, Frank and JP were almost in the middle. Weird.

A GunboatRank would be cool to see, and I think a few others who played would be up near the top.
