Pause wasz never discussed fool. And that rule was made for people who refuse to unpause to force a draw. Some players have a personal no pause rule and the mods have declared that as perfectly legal. No one is under obligation to pause except when a game or league or tournament has spelled this out in advance. You still fail, but now look like an idiot.

No, he's not. Perhaps he fears if he pauses, the game will never be unpaused. Maybe someone will forget about the game once it's unpaused, and since it's a gunboat, he won't be able to get people's attention. Perhaps he fears that he doesn't know how long the pause will last, and is unwilling to agree to an indefinite one. Or perhaps he wants his points so he can join another game quickly. Both are perfectly legal reasons to refuse to pause. I know several people who have a blanket policy of no pauses unless in league games (I think Maniac is one, but I could be wrong)

The bottom line is that it has never been upheld that people are required to pause if requested.

Refusing a pause is using the pause function as a diplomatic tool which is clearly against the rules.

Lando, the only time I know of of a mod intervening is when someone refuses to UNpause. I've been on the site a long time and have never heard of an instance of a mod forcing a pause on a game when all players don't agree.

That doesn't mean the person isn't cheating. This discussion is over until the game is over and we can hear from the asshole Egypt.

And, by the way, it should be considered that Egypt didn't realize it was a stalemate (back when it was) because he's unfamiliar with the Ancient Med map. I wouldn't have been able to tell you it was a stalemate if I didn't look and make sure for about 15 minutes.

The player who had Greece is really at fault, and his actions are far and away more douchey than Egypts. To simply bail at that point of the game, instead of finding a replacement, is unforgivable.

I must take Lando's side on this. The rule says "Use common sense and respect other players". There is also a difference between common sense and intelligence. Lack of intelligence would lead to your 1+1=3 declaration. That is, unless you declared your statement with the intentions of instigations. In that case, that would be breaking the rule as the intention clearly lacks respect for other players.
The "common sense" part in the rule is clearly intended for subjective use. This goes to the very meaning of the phrase. Having common sense is to act with discretion.

This being said, the question now lies on the intentions of Egypt. If he really was ignorant of the stalemate, then he is quite lawful in his actions. If he was intending on using NMR and CD, then he is exhibiting a lack of respect toward the other players of the game as he is utilizing methods other than diplomacy to achieve his goals.

@Lando - I don't give a fuck about your personal opinion of me. The facts are these. There is no rule against refusing to pause. The wording of the one rule is poorly written, but the mods will tell you it only violates the rules if the game was preagreed to allow pauses and what the conditions of the pauses are, like the leagues and the GFDT. Your insistence it is against the rules proves the fact that your are either intentionally obtuse and argumentative or are just an idiot.
