I was wondering how many Portuguese speaking players are in here. Would like to create a game spoken in Portuguese if there are enough players and enough interest.

Sardinia and Corsica
Has anyone else noticed that Corsica is colored green for Italy while Sardinia is left as the neutral salmon color? This strikes me as being incorrect since the Kingdom of Italy definitely included Sardinia while Corsica was under France during this time period. Was this error part of the original board game?

I made a new game with 115 dip. It's called "Sorry Mario, but the Princess is in Clyde." Well...she's always been there. No one takes it, so that's why she never gets saved. ;_; Didn't you notice that England is pink like Peach? Anyway, join the game and save her... :)

Someone spells caricatures incorrectly and it starts a debate. Should it? Should people pick others up on poor spelling when it is clear what the word should be? Is poor spelling a sign of low intelligence?

porn...
why?

"Sure, but why do porn actors/actresses do it? Like prostitution, 98% (*) of the time, because they are desperate for money or because they want to have lots of money.

So who would produce porn in a society where you get exactly the same if you work in a factory, tending a donut shop or having sex with strangers."

What about the huge amount of amateur porn which also exists? There are a lot of people producing pornographic material, for whom the principal motivation is not money. Check out, for example, www.newbienudes.com if you don't believe me.
Porn is fine for adults if thats what you are into. With the internet, however, things have changed. When I was 15 (25 years ago), if someone got a hold of a Playboy, that was a big deal, it made news and made him the talk of the school. Aside from that, the closest thing to porn was the Sport Illustrated Swimsuit issue (Kathy Ireland was featured prominently in my spank bank) and Benny Hill.

However, many 15 year olds equate porn to dating, because of how readily available it is on the internet. The handholding and hand jobs of yesterday have given way to much more advanced sexual activity. Whether that is harmless or not is for you to decide.

(And I'm sure there will be many 15 year olds to respond about how harmless it is)

How harmless porn is, or how harmless it is for 15 year olds to be having sex under stairwells at school?
Either one, and does one encourage/foster/create expectations for the other?
vamosrammstein (757 D(B))

I'd say if you watch porn, you're more likely to start looking for sex more and more, but I think its tough to say if porn is the chief cause of it, or if its just hormones acting up.
I would definitely say that those who watch porn frequently are more likely to seek sex at a younger age and with greater persistence than those who don't, although obviously there are exceptions.
LanGaidin (1509 D)

What would David Duchovny say?

One potentially damaging aspect of porn as it relates to teenagers is that it can distort what sex or intimacy should be like - especially with younger men; and in many cases will objectify women. Obviously with more maturity, guys can differentiate/categorize fantasy from reality, but how many teenage males have the true emotional maturity to do so.

I would be concerned (as a father to 2 girls) if she dated a guy that was obsessed or too influenced by pornography because his ideas of sexual intimacy will be skewed by it. His expectations of what constitutes a healthy sex life may be unduly influenced.

Please keep in mind that these are not generalizations that apply to every single person/teenager that watch porn, but it would be idiotic to claim that it has no influence whatsoever.

Forgive me if I repeated what anyone else had already said, as I did not read through all the previous posts.
Jamiet99uk (808 D)

What's any of this got to do with David Duchovny?
Lan, I'd be more concerned with the girls watching porn, thinking of what is 'expected' of them in a relationship at a young age.
LanGaidin (1509 D)
19 Sep 09 UTC
@ Jamie - simply a reference to a known individual that had a sex/porn addiction.

@ dbj - I although I agree with you, my greater concern would be the guys that both believe and try to claim that it is normal/expected sexual behavior. Most girls w/ healthy self esteems should be able to deduce that the scenarios are not typical and should not be expected. But most teenage males don't always think w/ the appropriate head when aroused.

"What would David Duchovny say?"
Probably the best response possible. Lol!

I don't see anything wrong with porn, so long as it's produced with consent... I also agree with Lan that, while some girls may be influenced by it, teenage boys are more likely to be. We're morons, by and large.

From my own personal experience guys who watch a lot of porn = way more fun in bed :) whether that's because they're more cocky and experimental i don't know, just adding my little observation to the thread
Biddis (364 D)
19 Sep 09 UTC
Oh and if we're talking about the influence of porn on women...all the women i know who watch porn tend to be more confident, more experimental, not as easily embarrassed and enjoy sex a lot more then those who don't, although not at all in a slutty way, in a very healthy way. Maybe that's because women can enjoy porn whilst still being able to see that it's not reality. Also women fantacise more during sex so watching porn can add to it all :)

The problem with any claim made is that there are likely to be correlations without causations.

But porn is not intended for teenagers any more than beer or tobacco. To declare something evil for what it might do to an influential young mind when the influential young mind shouldn't be experiencing it is defamatory. A 13 year old driving in the Indy 500 would probably get killed. Does that mean the Indy 500 or race cars in general are inherently evil? No...

@Ghostmaker that doesn't make sense in the slightest, and is there any reason why you couldnt just use the word causes rather than being pretentious

"@Ghostmaker that doesn't make sense in the slightest, and is there any reason why you couldnt just use the word causes rather than being pretentious"

Causation: n The act or process of causing.
Cause: n The producer of an effect, result, or consequence.

I shouldn't be the one to break it to you, but these words do actually mean different things.

As for making sense, it isn't rocket science:

The problem with any claim made [understand 'about the effects of pornography'] is that there are likely to be correlations without causations.

I really cannot see what your problem with that sentence is. I'm just pointing out that its quite likely that the teenager who chooses to watch porn was probably already more likely to have sex at an early age.

if your going to post a definition at least post the whole definition
@Draugnar, who said anything about porn being evil?
@TGM, I agree, there is no way to prove anything. As a parent, though, and as a society, we may want to think about it and perhaps err on the side of caution. I'm not saying to ban porn or anything like that, I'm saying its much too easy for a 13 year old to get it, and that might not be the best thing for him/her or society as a whole. (And I didn't find your sentence pretentious at all. Those are words and that is a sentence that all big people should be able to understand.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
19 Sep 09 UTC
trim101, If I'm going to post a definition, I'm going to post the one which is being used in the case being explained.

My point still stands, I used the different word because it has a different meaning. It may have the same meaning too, but I used it for the different one. Don't call me pretentious because of it.

@Dingle - read the whole thread. There are a couple of posts that declare porn evil.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)

DingleberryJones, I agree, but mustn't jump to conclusions either.
Hmm, did a search on the word evil, didn't find it until you mentioned it Draug.
Draugnar (0 DX)
19 Sep 09 UTC
@Ghost - there isn't an actual correlation, but there are perceived correlations. That distinction might have helped make the sentence more understandable to some, but I knew what you meant.
Draug, ah, just that little nazi troll SSReichDipshit mentioned 'Porn is disgusting. Its morally wrong and is one of the filthy things of society. In the perfect state it wouldnt exist. ' with nothing more to contribute, no reason behind his conclusion. Trolls are better off ignored.
