nah, there was one raid in particular that burned a quarter of the city I think

mrlentz got it, and goldfinger clarified. March 10th was the biggest raid in the Tokyo Firebombing and killed more people than either atomic bomb individually. The Firebombing as a whole was a period, but this raid was THE raid. It left over a quarter of the city destroyed and annihilated close to 300,000 buildings -- in one day.

So, mrlentz and goldfinger, figure out who gets it -- goldfinger got the specific event but lentz got the period, so fight for it! ;P

@Tolstoy: Being a resident not of New Orleans but of Baton Rouge, I can't speak for NOLA, but I don't really think there's a lot of departure from the official explanation in the state as a whole.
