March 20th or 21st (depending on the year): the vernal equinox. The universally accepted first day of Spring.

He's right. "This" is a fucking travesty. It can be used as either a pronoun (as in the sentence "Hey, look at this, troll.") or as an adjective (as in the sentence "Hey, look at this troll."). "This" is grammatically ambiguous, and teaches our children that grammar doesn't matter. It's grammatical relativism of the worst kind. I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not taking "this" any more!

There are more definitions of the start of spring than there are days of the year! The UK's Meteorological Office defines it as the 1st of March, as do rather a lot of Brits (possible a majority.... not sure). I like to define it as starting on the day I see the first bumblebee. Not too keen on the fixed date definitions as you invariably end up celebrating the start of spring in the middle of a blizzard and similar daft things.

I go with either the astronomical definition (the vernal equinox) or the regional economic definition (after you can drive a sedan down a dirt road without getting stuck, but before the tourists get here). Arguably, the start of Spring is the first day of Spring training. Or maybe it is the day of the first game in Spring training.

But the fact is, Spring, in so far as "being warmer" will, by nature, be at the vernal equinox when the days are officialluy longer than the nights in the Northern Hemisphere. Before that, the night rules so it must be fall or winter (in this case winter).

If spring training were spring in New England, the Sox wouldn't have to go to Florida to do it.

Or perhaps when he said, "See inside..." he was referring to the Holy See, as in the Vatican. Perhaps he thinks there was a fucking travesty, as in some sort of terrible sexual scandal, and that the See (the Holy See) was involved, or "inside" the scandal. Yes, I think that's it. I think he was giving us advance warning of more Vatileaks scandals. Friends, Trip bravely risked, and based on his lack of elaboration may have lost, his life to bring us this news. Ever since this was originally posted, I've peeked into this thread. Hoping. Praying. Wondering. But no...NO...trip will not show. He will not explain the travesty. So I wait. And I wonder.

So I'm guess the fucking travesty is the lack of blow jobs in his life.
