WTA vs PPSC
A frequent debate on this site. I'm of the WTA camp as I disdain the "strong second" PPSC mentality.
It seems that the inventor of the game, Allan Calhamer shared this view, arguing that the WTA objective provided for much more interesting end game drama.

Need sub for triathlon
DILK has gone AWOL so we need someone to take over a FP and GB game. If we can't get one person to do both, then I'd be more than happy to find a different person to do each game.

Roman Legions vs. Mongol Hordes
To commemorate the 807th anniversary of the grand Quriltai which saw Temujin elected as Genghis Khan, I ask who would win a battle between a force of Mongols and a slightly larger force of Roman legions (for the sake of discussion, we will say from the late republic/early empire period) in a head-to-head matchup? Please discuss.

Is war between Russia and England more or less inevitable?
The Norway-StP corridor is very hard to DMZ. Perhaps conflict will always occur. I at least cannot think of a time in recent memory that they went the whole game without fighting (barring an early elimination of one or both).

Discouraging country based resigns thought...
Webdip uses a country weighting system where the more often you have been a country, the less a chance you have of being it again and vice versa. So how about use that to deal with people that abandon a game because they got a country they don't like?

Got married at 25 and just celebrated our 22nd anniversary. That was fast...

I'd echo Draugnar and others' comments and sum it up this way: happy marriages don't just "happen" - you do need to work at it. George Burns once said: "Marriage is what happens when you get out of bed." As long as you've got someone that you are willing to explore/travel/find common interests together, you're willing to devote time and energy to their happiness and you are sure that they will do the same for you, then you are golden. Well done.

It also helps if she's hot.
Proposal advice: don't hide the ring anywhere where it could get lost or she could ingest it. The bridal mags/sites are full of horror stories about botched proposals by guys who got too creative.

Congratulations.

And in unrelated news, I'm coming up on my 41st anniversary of not having to give a shit about Jamie, that bitch in accounts payable, whether my sheets match my comforter matching my drapes, or the wacky escapades of whatever Kardashian found the most outre way to conspicuously consume this week. I plan on celebrating by having a giant fucking Manhattan and playing Red Dead Redemption until about 3 in the morning.
I'm just fucking with you sandgoose. Seriously, congrats on getting engaged, even if I can't see any advantages to it that can't be equaled by hiring a decent accountant.

What an exciting and uplifting thread, loving somebody and offering them a partnership in marriage is such a great thing to do but one word of warning. As you grow older you'll change physically, mentally, psychologically and so will she. Mutual respect and love for each other will mean you give each other the space to grow, to change in that partnership. Learn to compromise, learn to accept your wrong sometimes and let her train you in certain aspects of life, you'll know which ones these are as she'll nag you about them until you learn.
And remember marriage is a work-in-progress and there's still work to do to create a good and balanced happy life.
And then if kids come along ....... now that's a whole different story, chuck the rule book out the window and start all over again !!
Good luck and enjoy the moment, I wish you both the very best :-)

LOL, how many webdip nerds did you ask to participate in this little proposal?

I think abge was there, thatwasawkward standing in the back with his bald head, Draugnar was the chubby guy with the camera towards the end, and PE was posting the pictures in the background.

I'm surprised I didn't see Mujus there with the Bible ready to marry you guys then and there or Thucy running around yelling memes as you proposed.

Anyhow, congrats goosy. Tie that knot.

Is it just because I'm in college or what?
Does anyone else have the experience that the time when gender issues and parity come most the fore is when a coed group of people goes partying together? Shit just happens and you have to make decisions based on that stuff more often than in normal life. At least I feel that way. Thoughts?

So has obiwanobiwan finally matured and can I take him off my mute list?
Obi need not answer. I won't see it. But does anyone else want to chime in with their opinion so I can decide if it is safe to take him off? I kind of miss his long winded posts, but he got so over the top with his youthful insistence he knew everything I had to mute him or kill him before his 21st birthday, and I thought the former was the better option.
