Who designed the "Diplomacy deadline add-on"? It doesn't work.
No, it didn't bing when the deadline arrived. I have a suspicion that it's designed to subtly change my orders instead.

@Defiant, do you understand the process of government subsidies as means of producing a socially acceptable level of a public good beyond its market equilibrium? Because if you do, you are either a laissez-faire capitalist, and I encourage you to look at historical examples of such markets and why they no longer exist (in developed western countries), or you don't understand, and therefore should stop talking. Talking about ideas on which you have little to no understanding, background, or insight simply makes you look like an uneducated fool, and I don't want to have to think that of you, so please don't force me to.

Puddle,
Please, by all means, enlighten me, "do you understand the process of government subsidies as means of producing a socially acceptable level of a public good beyond its market equilibrium?"
You talk just like Barry, again give me an example and not something you read out of your liberal Harvard textbook.
Just like the left , we don't like your ideas or points of view, so just stop talking, so predictable an stupid it is incredible.
BTW, your government subsidies that produce those "socially" acceptalbe public good, junior, is breaking us, if you haven't figured that out yet. There are some "socially" acceptable public goods we cannot support, my proof, simple, even for you. Look at Europe's ecomony the same model we are following and look at the debt which by all economists say is unsustainable. If you make X and you spend Y and Y >(means greater than) X, you go broke and the whole system fails.
Now I am not like you and your liberal sheep, I want you to voice your opinion and show me the way out of this mess, please speak up, I encourage it.

Also Puddle, Limbaugh, ignorant? No, he is alot of things but ignorant, not even close, shows your ignorance in saying something like that. You just sound like a mad angry liberal, just like Bill Maher(probably your personal favorite)

@NikeFlash, typical for a liberal.
DEFIANT3 (100 D)
29 Mar 12 UTC
Puddle,
Forgot to tell you the best one, when is a subsidized cell phone and the package to a "needy person" a socially acceptable lever of public good?
There are many of these, that one I really like the best. Give me your best one, I am sure it is the farming subsidies(that's worked out well), how about the one for ethenol, another good one, especially when it takes 2 units of energy to make 1(perfect sense), DO YOU SUPPORT oil company subsidies, I'll bet you don't.........................;)

And when you use the arugment that subsidies lower my cost at the pump or store or gas station, remember subsidies come out of our pockets as taxes so i am paying a higher price, just hidden.
With PROPER regulation, let the free market work and keep that damn fed gov't out of it. It is that simple.
NikeFlash (140 D)
29 Mar 12 UTC
Yup, since I do not agree with you, I must be a liberal.
No. I am neither a liberal or a conservative. I have fundamental issues with both, namely vilifying anyone go does not fully agree with their side.
NikeFlash (140 D)

Wait if the government isn't regulating, then what body would? The free market???

NikeFlash,
I will copy and paster for you the line I wrote:

Nike, see the capitalized word, PROPER, who said no regulation?
DEFIANT3 (100 D)

Nike,
There will always be some fed gov't oversight, that was the point of proper regulation, not the overbearing entity it is now.

So....scanning through this critique of my apparent radio alter-ego, I see a lot of RSP's (really smart peoples...) making assertions about Rush Limbaugh - that he is full of logical fallicies, blah blah blah...this fro people who suggest they listen to him, or have listened to him....or most likely have read posts about him on various liberal attack sites....

Anyway...WHERE ARE YOUR EXAMPLES?
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
29 Mar 12 UTC
Krellin's right guys, you can't say that without finding some examples.

There should be a million of them (I don't know, I've never listened to Rush) so take the time to find them so you can trigger another Krellin mental breakdown. He hates it when you take the time to support your arguments - as he is unwilling to do the same.
krellin (80 DX)
29 Mar 12 UTC
YJ -- that's exactly my point - you good libs constantly strike down ideas unless they are supported by a doctoral thesis...and yet here you all are, good hypocrites all of you, slinging the mud, name calling, making unsupported claims and pretending you somehow have something legitimate to say, when all it is is biased opinion.

Quite laughable, the whole lot of you. As for me supporting or not supporting my arguments....I address criticism and such point by point at times...the typical response from the like of you? You do not read what I say, do not address my counterpoints, but instead just conitnue with the mud-slinging and name calling that you claim is so reprehensible. As I say...you are all quite laughable...

Now...WITHOUT going to some liberal attack site...by using the actual, available transcripts of Limbaugh's show - which are available, so as to not take things out of context...let's hear from examples.

Mind you, I am NOT for a second saying Limbaugh has impeccable logic -- I am not saying a thing to either side of the discussion...I'm jut saying that you who ARE making these claims, have jut a smidgen of integrity and back up your claims.
Puddle (413 D)
29 Mar 12 UTC
Couple of things, first off, I hate Bill Maher, he is simply another Rush Limbaugh-type person, except on the opposite end of the spectrum, he makes just as many tasteless comments, and just as many grossly offensive statements.

As far as ignorant, I think the most recent scandal of Limbaughs showed he is completely ignorant as to how birth control works, saying something to the effect of, "she is having so much sex that she can't even afford the birth control for all of it!". If someone wants to find the actual text go for it, but it will probably be on a "liberal attack site" simply because Fox and other conservative sources are generally not going to quote the offensive statements of someone they agree with. (I am assuming here that any site that criticizes Rush on a regular basis would be labelled as a "liberal attack site".

As far as logical fallacies, I can't remember any specific examples, but I do remember him often using ad hominim attacks, and slippery slope arguments. I'll try to find some from a moderate relatively unbiased site.
Puddle (413 D)
29 Mar 12 UTC
@Defiant,

I totally agree that our government is wasting a lot of money on a lot of stupid things, and is wasting a lot of money on good things done terribly.

Do you really want an economics lesson? The fact that you immediately called a Harvard textbook propaganda means you have no interest or respect for the academic community or theories, regardless of what empirical data might say. While some subjects are certainly biased to what you might call a "liberal" agenda, economics certainly is not. So I ask again do you really want a lesson in economics? And if I spend my time and effort to do so, are you going to actually learn/absorb any of that information.
Puddle (413 D)
29 Mar 12 UTC
@Krellin, if I find a sight that points out something Limbaugh said as offensive, I will go back and check transcripts to see if its out of context.

Also did you see my first post? I defended you! sorta :P
DEFIANT3 (100 D)
29 Mar 12 UTC
Puddle,
What is so ignorant on his comments on birth control? It's a fact you can get contraceptives for about 9-12 bucks a month. What's this 3000 a year from fluke, all Rush did was to point out just how stupid and extreme her argument was by using extreme comments. No surprise there.
And that's another,:
"government subsidies as means of producing a socially acceptable level of a public good "
How in any logic what so ever is it my responsibility to subsidize someone else's contraceptives, go buy you own, my god how dumb we are getting. That even beats the ridiculous cell phone subsidy.

You know what, i am going to pull a Rush here:

In order for me to do my job I NEED three beers a night to relax and lower my blood pressure, are you willing, Puddle, to subsidize my three beers through health care taxes.
C'mon there's a point to where we have to say no to being lead by the collective stupid.
Draugnar (0 DX)

Science and medicine have shown a glass of red wine a day is good for the heart. Can I get the government to buy me a case of my favorite cabernet every year? Please?
Draugnar (0 DX)

My doctor said I needed a membership to a healthclub and to start walking to help get my blood sugar under better control. Can I get the government to subsidize my health club membership? It'd only cost $1200 a year! Please?
DEFIANT3 (100 D)
29 Mar 12 UTC
Again Puddle, please enlighten me, I am still waiting for your first lesson. And yes Puddle I am laughing at the superior intellect of Harvard types, you know, the one that occupies the white house.
Maybe I can get some more university credits for the lesson you are about to teach, why don't you just quit threatening and really give me an economic lesson, and don't be afraid to use Barry's economic textbook and model.
But remember, you must put it in layman's terms for us simpletons.
DEFIANT3 (100 D)
29 Mar 12 UTC
Draugnar, couldn't say it any better, glad someone else gets the stupidity of this.
Draugnar (0 DX)
29 Mar 12 UTC
I find a scotch and a cigar to be relaxing every night. Can I get the government to buy me a bottle of Glenlivet 17 and a box of A. Fuente Hemingway Singature cigars every month? It'd only run about $4000 a year! Please?
Draugnar (0 DX)
29 Mar 12 UTC
P.S. All three of thoughs are regular occurences for me. If the government would subsidize them, I could put that money to use elsewhere buying recreational drugs and prostitutes. :-)

If that college girl suddenly got all her birth control free, she'd just blow the money on beer, weed, and possibly even blow.
Draugnar (0 DX)
29 Mar 12 UTC
all three of those... Geez talk about a brain fart. I don't need the weed to kill my brain cells. :-)
krellin (80 DX)
29 Mar 12 UTC
@Puddle -- I know you did....very, very brave of you...sort of.

I have no doubt that you can find seemingly offensive things that he has said...depending on the audience hearing the comments, how out of context they are (from the overall perspective of his show -- demonstrating absurdity with absurdity, one of the *key* tools he uses in his satire) (Yes...I have listened to him...i don't now, by the way) In other words...if you find a comment about a topic you will often times have to find his PREVIOUS comments about the topic as well in order to get them in full context, as his show the development of his thoughts, etc is more of a continuous effort...

Now...about birth control....Puddle, if you think birth control *must* cost $3000....then you apparently don't know how birth control works. If you want TOP OF THE LINE birth control, maybe $3000 for a prescription is fine...but you know what? If you are talking about the government providing you birth control, you had better not expect top of the line. When my doctor prescribes a NON-generic drug, I get a generic anyway, because that's what my insurance company will pay for. Government health care puts limits on things all the time....so....if you want the goverment to provide you with birth control, $3k will buy you about 5800 condoms...which if used properly are essentially as effective as the pill with THE ADDED BENEFIT that our (apparently) very sexually active Ms. Fluke will be protected from VD....THUS MAKING the condom a BETTER choice for her...

I think before you suggest people don't know anything about birth control, you get your facts straight...This debate wasn't a NEED for birth control...it was about a PERSONAL WANT by Ms. Fluke. If she NEEDS it, it can be provided far cheaper than her suggestion.
Puddle (413 D)
29 Mar 12 UTC
Come on Draug you can;t be serious?

@Defiant, I'm about to go to a lit class, I'll go ahead and post why subsidies are a good thing (For some goods, you Straw-man abusing ideologues.)

Also you do realize that those running opposite to Obama are both actually more highly educated elites? (Santorum and Romney)

@Draugnar -- blood sugar issues....? www.markdailyapple.com

I've switched to this diet -- pretty impressed so far. Have read a lot of the info on this site (sign up for his email). Goes through a lot of science behind the scenes...and he encourages eating delicious meat and healthy fats and veggies and getting rid of refined sugars and grains. Very easy to adopt, and I'm losing weight (without exercising) and not craving food, etc. Looking forward to my next doc appt to see how it is or is not affecting my cholesterol & sugar.
Puddle (413 D)
29 Mar 12 UTC
@Krellin, damn it guys I really need to go to class! Haha

Regarding the healthcare system, the main problem is that health insurance companies have artificially raised prices due to their business model, as a result all healthcare prices are waaaaaay above what the free market equilibrium would be. At that equilibrium I would quite happily say, "Can't afford it? Too bad." But since we have the creation of a largely government supported industry that has gone and fucked up the free market for healthcare, it is the responsibility of the government to fix this, partly because it helped create the problem, but mostly because that's the role of Government, at least a government as outlined by Locke, Roussaeu, and many others.
