Teaching a group of high school students
Well, due to the holidays, NMRs, and CDs, the game has been drawn. I thank you all the mentors that helped with the game. Hopefully all the students learned something even though the game did not finish on a satisfying note.

If there are any feedbacks or other volunteers for the next game (where I will ask for a pledge of no CDs), please feel free to let me know.
Thanks again.

not announcing personal knowledge of other players
is that dishonest? i'm in a game as turkey in 1910 facing a multi-country alliance (and holding my own, thank you very much) but I've just discovered that I'm facing an alliance of france, germany, england and russia and all of them know each other personally. is this against the rules? I might win the game anyway, because they're all pretty bad, but still... thoughts?

Anti-Putin Protests
Been rather cut off from news recently but apparently the rigged elections in Russia have caused a decent-sized backlash. Gorbachev has advocated that Putin step down peacefully. Has anyone been watching these protests unfold or have any thoughts on the matter?

Gorbachov destroyed his country and spends more time doing ads for handbags than anything productive for Russia.

Who is claiming the elections are rigged?

Vladmir Ryzhkov & Boris Nemtsov? Members of the National Endowment for Democracy. The CIA front that is responsible for election meddling everywhere. I'm sure people will roll their eyes about what I said about the NED, but yet the founder of the NED said it does the CIA's work for them. Ryzhkov has a Washington DC address listed and has been a close ally of everybody's favorite communist - Gennady Ziuganov. Ryzhkov cites NED funded "observers" that keep claiming that fraud occurred. Nemtsov, on his part, on Sept. 14 participated in an NED sponsored event on Russian elections. Nemtsov is (hilariously named) Solidarity group and was one of Yeltsin's henchmen until Yeltsin's minions pushed Russia off a cliff in the late 1990s. He was also a cheerleader for the CIA-backed, ultra-nationalist "Orange Revolution" in Ukraine.. Western media frequently cite these two clowns and Alexei Navalny, a "blogger" with ties to NED funded groups like the (hilariously named) Henry Jackson Foundation & the Moscow Helsinki Group, as well as organizations like "Golos" another NED sponsored "independent" outfit.

It took longer than I thought it would. I have to say I'm disappointed, though. Usually Putin33's posts are at least coherent, even if they are full of lies, misrepresentations, and stunning examples of willful ignorance.

All of which are represented above. "Who is claiming the elections are rigged?"?!?!?!?!?!? Good grief.

Sorry I didn't interrupt my family time to check the forum and respond to your usual nasty, substance-less attacks, Invictus. And when did I ever say anything you weren't 'disappointed' by? I obviously live for your approval and spend every waking moment thinking about how to obtain it.

Putin33 (111 D)

I should make one correction about Ryzhkov. There are two Ryzhkovs, one was closely associated with Zyuganov. The one who founded the NED puppet group with Nemtsov & co is not the same person.

I didn't make the thread. But enough about me, go back to claiming Putin walks on water or North Korea isn't a hellhole or the Prague Spring was all the work anti-Semites or the Holodomor didn't happen or whatever other repugnant, revisionist piece of nonsense you're fighting the good and lonely fight for du jour.

Putin33 (111 D)

Who cares if you made the thread? The thread wasn't about me. But you had to indulge in your usual stock attacks against me because you use any pretext you can find to do that. You're a real unpleasant person. No wonder you joined a fraternity and pay to be provided friends.

With these protests Russia has a chance to get rid of Kremlin's mafia without bloody revolution.

Russia has some clever guys, who can rule the country instead of Putin's band: Navalny, Prohorov, Kudrin.

Good news are that Putin's band wants to keep liberal face because of their money in West banks. They want to have possibility to live peacefully in Europe and USA with their dirty money. So they don't want civil war and thinking about compromises.

Putin33, taped rants? Maybe you mean Nemtsov?
Putin33 (111 D)
27 Dec 11 UTC
Ah yes, Nemtsov, Navalny's associate. Navalny is the one who delivered red meat to the cheering throngs of ultra-nationalists about talking about foreign crooks who suck the country's blood.

Navalny's group Strategy 31 openly takes money from the NED.

Navalny - RosPil.
Putin33 (111 D)

Isn't Navalny Ilya Yashin's good buddy? Aren't they all part of the same crowd? Navalny co-founded Democratic Alternative with Mariya Gaidar, who co-founded the Moscow Helsinki Group with Ilya Yashin. The latter runs Strategy 31.

Putin33, as a communist, I'm interested as to why you're so supportive of a corrupt mobster like Putin? I agree with you on many issues, but not this one.
Well, from what I gather, Putin33 is trying to say that the real Putin is in fact not corrupt at all, and all evidence of his corruption was fabricated by the CIA and his opposition or something along those lines. Now, that may or may not be true, I don't know, but those are his reasons for supporting Putin from what I've gathered in this thread.
stratagos (3269 D(S))

I'd like to point out the only reason Poutin22 hasn't joined the conversation is that the new user signup doesn't work from a mobile device. And parties that shall remain nameless don't feel like setting up a throwaway email address for a single post joke.

But if those nameless individuals *were* willing to post, they might write something like so:

Poutine22: I would like to state, for the record, that I do not support Vladimir Putin, and resent being compared to him. Putin is a dictator who oppresses his citizens, while poutine is sheer, artery hardening deliciousness.

Sure, both Putin and Poutine can be bad for you, but generally speaking the half life of Poutine is much greater than polonium

And poutine has no need for voter fraud to gain your support - you either love or hate poutine, and no amount of marketing is going to ever change that.

In closing, vote Poutine, not Putin.
