Webdiplomacy interface preventing legal move to Sevastapol from Armenia via land.
In a game I am currently in, the web diplomacy interface is not allowing me to order a Turkish Army to move via land into Sevastapol. When I try to select this order it states, "viaConvoy parameter set to invalid value No" Is this a known error? While I know that it would be unreasonable for me to expect an immediate fix for this error, I would greatly appreciate it if

Panic--Unable to issue orders
I've tried to save/ready orders from IE8, Firefox, and Chrome on my windows 7 machine (from which up until now I've been able to) and the page just seems to hang even if I leave it for ~5 mins. Same result from Firefox and Chrome on my Ubuntu machine.Obviously I can post messages so I don't know what's going on...Anybody have ideas to help?

Live, but not at such a frantic pace
I have often wanted to play live, but not at such a frantic pace as five minute turns. Doesn't leave much time for diplomacy.
I wonder if there are others who would like to "play live" for a couple hours and then finish up on a 12 hour or 24 hour schedule.
Has anyone suggested that before? Is there a list of players somewhere who are interested in such an arrangement?

What's the procedure for requesting a multi-accounting check? Please take a look at Game ID 49803. France is going to win. I'd just like to make sure that it was a fair win given that Italy supported him throughout the entire game. Thank you.

and goldfinger - honestly, the final is less important than this. this doesnt happen every day. go out there and remember it for the rest of your life
Tolstoy (1962 D)
02 May 11 UTC
I think the most important aspect for the future of the world in general here is that the chief justification for America's aggressive foreign policy over the last 9.5 years is now off the table. It will be interesting to see if there are any changes in American diplo-military activities, and/or a call domestically for withdrawal from Afghanistan now that Obama is going to unfurl a great big "Mission Accomplished" banner.
Tolstoy (1962 D)
02 May 11 UTC
Yeah Goldfinger, go out and celebrate. In 30 years you'd be telling your children about it, but you're not going to be telling them about the good grade you got on that final the next day.
TheFlyingBoat (2743 D)

@Tolstoy Osama is dead. Al-Qaeda is not. Furthermore, there is still the Taliban to deal with.
great, so we hunt down every last one of them? While we're at it i have an idea to fight rising sea levels as well, it involves a shovel and the sea shore. We killed the SOB, best excuse yet to end this.
Tolstoy (1962 D)
02 May 11 UTC
The 'al-Qaeda' you're thinking of is mostly a phantom created by the US power structure to keep us all terrified and eager to surrender our freedom. At it's height (not counting the '80s), it operated less than a dozen training camps and had less than 1,000 real 'members', nearly all of whom are dead now.

And the Taliban is a bunch of illiterate hill-tribesman who have never even seen America. I'll bet even Mullah Omar couldn't find it on a map. They're pissed that we've been dropping bombs on them for the last ten years, and who wouldn't be? Like a hive of bees, they don't need to be 'dealt with'. They need to be left alone. If the Afghan Mujahadeen did not follow the Soviet Army home when there was just a river separating them, they're certainly not going to follow the US military home over two great big oceans and 7,000 miles.
it was the SEALS btw
im just waiting for the medieval suggestions people are going to make about what to do with his body, how does the U.S. handle that?
Geofram (130 D(B))
02 May 11 UTC
Al Qaeda is the terrorist's bank, not its hand, and the money's still there. But I agree, the war has gone on long enough.
Tolstoy (1962 D)
02 May 11 UTC
@Santa, the body needs to be displayed publicly, then turned over to his family. It's the only way to satisfy people like me who won't entirely accept this news on the Dear Leader's say-so.

A local radio host here in SoCal is saying that he should be wrapped in pigskins and buried in Oklahoma, though.
Displayed publicly, we in the wild west?

Obama turns his body over to his family there is going to be shit show, I dont make predictions, but you just wait this will be an issue
and yes you can bring it up if it isnt.

"f the Afghan Mujahadeen did not follow the Soviet Army home when there was just a river separating them, they're certainly not going to follow the US military home over two great big oceans and 7,000 miles."

Not entirely true. There's a strong Afghan-Chechnya connection. The Taliban was the only government to recognize Chechnya as an independent state. Prior to the invasion in 2001, Russia was making a lot of noise about deals being made between OBL, the Taliban, and Chechen fighters.

"It's the only way to satisfy people like me who won't entirely accept this news on the Dear Leader's say-so."

Haha. I can imagine Donald Trump, backed by legions of Ron Paulies, demanding the "death certificate".
Tolstoy (1962 D)
02 May 11 UTC
Sorry Santa, but I'm not 100% buying this until I see a corpse. At least I'm not calling for him to be quartered and have his pieces put on pikes in New York, DC, and rural Pennsylvania as I'm sure many a right-wing pundit will be calling for tomorrow.

The bin Laden family is very respectable and has strong ties with the West. some of Osama's older brothers have done business with the Bush family. None of them (so the news reports go) have had any of contact with OBL since his exile to Sudan, and he's been cast off as a family embarrassment. I really doubt there'd be a 'shit show' unless they were handed someone else's body. Which is the whole reason I'd like to see the body given to them. The bin Ladens are still quite wealthy and dependent upon the House of Sa'ud for their good fortune. Making a scene would cost them everything.

@Smiley:

I think we can ALL live with it...and huh, Sisko/Obama? ;)

And...

THE METS WIN...IN 14 INNINGS!

Which really bears no significance, and I'm sure plenty of folks are preparing their anti-baseball jibes now...

But really--is there even LITTLE poetry in the fact that the night the man behind New York's Greatest Nightmare dies, a team from New York wins at New York's game, baseball? (And for all of you who DO remember...the first game AFTER 9/11? Braves/Mets...and the Mets won in extra innings!)

Excuse me while I grin, however foolish the grin may be. :D
At least he was taken out by men with guns rather than a silent missile. He'd have known and had time to fear what was coming for him.

Jumping around the news channels (we have 17 over here) AlJazeera is showing film of a burning building while discussing this. The other news channels don't have it yet.
yeah i forgot Tolstoy, ordinary Joe American is rational enough to accept all of that
handing him over to his family will not be popular
Tolstoy (1962 D)

"Prior to the invasion in 2001, Russia was making a lot of noise about deals being made between OBL, the Taliban, and Chechen fighters."

Right. The Taliban is still at war with the Northern Alliance, has a tenuous grip on the parts of the country they control, and they're going to send precious and limited resources to fight someone else's war a thousand miles away? This story seems to be just a reprint of a Kremlin press release - I'm not inclined to take it too seriously.

"Haha. I can imagine Donald Trump, backed by legions of Ron Paulies, demanding the "death certificate"."

Hey. That *was* funny. :-)

And I'm sorry, Tolstoy, I don't care HOW medieval it sounds...

Bin Laden's body should be burned or blasted apart, anything, but NO CHANCE for an honorable, dignified burial...

Sorry, but when you cause 3,000+ people to burn to death in collapsing towers, you forfeit that little right, in my opinion.
Tolstoy (1962 D)

"ordinary Joe American is rational enough to accept all of that...handing him over to his family will not be popular"

You got me there. I hadn't thought that far ahead. Back to the drawing board...

Point all you want, SantaClausowitz...

Can you honestly say you'd be alright with the man having a honorable burial when he caused so much terror and catastrophe?

To invoke Godwin's Law, it'd be like American Jews gunning down Hitler, and then watching as he had a full military burial with honors...
Tolstoy (1962 D)

"Sorry, but when you cause 3,000+ people to burn to death in collapsing towers, you forfeit that little right, in my opinion."

What about people who cause 300,000 (or more) to die through starvation, bombs, missile strikes, artillery, 'surgical drone strikes', summary executions, itchy trigger fingers etc., etc.... Should Slick Willy, Dubya, and Obama all be denied decent burials as well?

I'm not saying his head needs to be put on a pike at Ground Zero or anything, but niceties are out of the question, I think...

Logic and Justice aren't always quite compatible--this is one of those instances.

Okay, so far I'm liking it. It does seem to load pages MUCH faster than 3.6.x. And they do claim their new javascript engine is much faster too. I'd be really interested to hear from someone playing a World map game to hear if it does indeed work better for calculating the enumerable convoy routes.
