Jesus fuck, I am in the worst goddam gunboat ever
Russia quits when they are the largest power on the board. Austria's a total moron who has completely ignored the growth of a huge Turkey in order to persist in attacking Italy, and England is getting gutted like a sea bass because he wants to attack France and Germany simultaneously, while they're attacking each other. Yecch, this game sucks.

HOMOSEXUALITY IS A CHOICE
I just read an interesting editorial in my local paper. See below. (Wait for me to post first)

A quick look at the wikipedia page makes me think that isn't true. And even if it was, being homoerotic still means you're a homosexual.

@Diplofool - "I also think that, over time, you can make yourself so immune to sexual thoughts that you could potentially become just like someone who is naturally asexual. For example, a lifelong nun."

What words, exactly, did I put in your mouth. You either stated a nu was naturally asexual or becomes just like a natrually asexual person over time. Which was it? Doesn't matter because my point still applies that they clearly aren't naturally asexual nor do they become asexual over time as the evidence supports my conclussion. I now pronounce you The_Master_Diplofool and henceforth you shall be known as such. So let it be said. So let it be done.
LetsHunt (100 D)

I can CHOOSE to have sex with a banana but that has about as much relevance as the original question. His logic is retarded, not intelligent.
@ Draugnar -- You implied that I thought every exclusively celibate person (i.e. nuns, monks, and priests) overtime becomes asexual. I never said that.

Oh, and a side note: I am not diplomat1824. If I was, wouldn't I have gotten banned?

@ LetsHunt --

Yes, you can choose to have sex with a banana. And that statement is irrelevent in this discussion. Your logic is retarded, not intelligent.

Do you want to be banned if a mod can prove you're diplomat1824?
spyman (424 D(G))
08 Aug 10 UTC
The mods decided to give you another go. This has all been discussed before, you know that we know who you are. Personally I don't have a problem with you. Especially in your new incarnation (and you only got banned before because you created too many threads, despite the warnings not to).
Draugnar (0 DX)
08 Aug 10 UTC
The_Master_Diplofool, a mod (figlesquidge I think, but may have been Ghost) confirmed you are in fact the original Diplofool and decided to give you another chance. But I'm sure he'll be happy to ban you if you wish.
spyman (424 D(G))

Besides Diplomat1824 was also a professor of aeronautics. But his PhD thesis had a different name. His was called "Aeronautics and Airplanes" and not "The History of Aeronautics" (I forget the exact name, but your current thesis has a similar name).
You guys should read my thesis for my PhD in English. "Planes, Trains, and Plantains." Oh yeah. It's good.
Draugnar (0 DX)
08 Aug 10 UTC
My Master's thesis was called "The History of the Development Term 'Bug'". It was all of one page triple spaced in Helvetica 18 point font, but I got my Master's of Science in Information Sciences.

Gay= natural way to cap the population. That's why there are gay animals. Derrr
@ spyman and Draugnar --

This is going to seem pathetic, but they're al coincidences. Even if I am the original "diplofool", think about it. "Diplofool" was, from what I've gathered, way more conservative than me.

@Mapleleaf: I have been using diplomat61 as a handle for over 10 years on other Diplomacy sites, so I was not "warned". In any case, having chosen a name on thhis site one cannot change it without being a multi.

Do you "choose" to fancy blondes? or fat people? There are many physical variations in people: height, body shape, hair & skin colour, etc. and within whatever sex we are attracted to we have preferences. It seems to me that which sex you are attracted to is another part of the same set of instinctive choices.

Surely it is better to see a person lead a happy life with a partner than for them both to be unhappy to suit your view of the way the world should be. That latter seems a spectacularly selfish position to take.

I doubt that many people choose which features they are attracted to

within the opposite sex that may be more

@TMW
The argument of homesexuality being a choice comes from the religious right.
They use it to make homosexuals sinners in their beliefsystem, because if it is a choice you have choosen against their gods will and you are a sinner.
Wouldn´t it be a choice they were just humans, baut that´s not in the interest of the religious right.

Homosexuality is no choice, in fact only people that are not sure of their sexuality could imagine it is a choice.

Can we have someone who is actually gay or lesbian express his opinions?
I think we as heterosexuals shouldn't assume what they think.
Miro Klose (595 D)
08 Aug 10 UTC
Why? They are not abnormal or different you troll! Why should heterosexual be not a choice if homosexuality is?
largeham (149 D)
08 Aug 10 UTC
Wow, calm down Miro. IIRC Mafialligator is gay, or bi. I think there are a few others here, but I can't remember who.
Anyway, I have a gay friend and a bi friend, and both say that it was like how a straight person realises he likes women. Both did realise the implications (i.e. how gays/bis are treated etc). They didn't think it was a choice (well, they new they could keep the feelings suppressed, but then that applies to everyone).

@ Dr_The_Master_Warrior_PhD.: " I always thought of homoerotic as someone who has a sexual attraction to their own gender, but keeps their desires private and exclusive to themselves."

Like you do, you mean?

"I am not diplomat1824"

Yes you are. The mods have previously confirmed that you are. You're a bad liar.

In terms of this thread, the OP is completely irrelevant. Why the hell SHOULD a gay person choose not to have sex? There is nothing wrong with being gay.
@ everyone --

I don't think we need three threads to discuss this issue. I will be happy to continue this debate on the thread "PROP 8 OVERTURNED" .

@ Dr_The_Master_Warrior_Ph.D:

"I don't think we need three threads to discuss this issue. I will be happy to continue this debate on the thread "PROP 8 OVERTURNED" ."

Firstly, YOU started this thread.

Secondly, a lot of the debate on the PROP 8 OVERTURNED thread appears to concern legal and political issues specific to California, rather than the issue of homosexuality in general.
Draugnar (0 DX)

@TnT - funny you should mention homosexuality in the animal population. I had two male zebra finches for years and they nested together and huddled in their house up against each other. Seems that finches (and other birds) when put in a same sex environment will pair up and mate, even going through all the motions of nesting just as if they were going to lay eggs and have young.

@tnt - Gay = birth defect.
largeham (149 D)
11 Aug 10 UTC
Yeah, and they should be put down like animals. Christ, it is always those stupid leftists who ruin society. If it weren't for those pansies, we could just kill all those gays, cripples, black people.
mapleleaf (0 DX)
11 Aug 10 UTC
@largeham - Nice sarcasm. Everybody flies off the handle when I state the obvious(not you largeham) Being gay is a result of not having the level of hormones NORMALLY attributed to one's gender. Therefore : birth defect.

I'm not making any judgments about it. I think that it's admirable how the queers have coped with their disability. Good for them. (cue the emotional fags and dykes screaming, "Fuck You mapleleaf! I'm NOT disabled".)

ROTFLMAO.

What does normal mean?

It means being less of an asshole than mapleleaf. :)

(Just kidding, you know I love ya ol' man)
Mafialligator (239 D)
11 Aug 10 UTC
Ugh. Just because something is rude and insensitive doesn't make it true. The world is more complicated than just, normal and abnormal. Redheadedness is the result of a recessive mutation in hair colour genes. In other words, they don't have the genes they should following the normal laws of genetics. ie. a birth defect! I find it remarkable how redheads have been able to cope with their disability.

Gunboat Done Properly
I've tried three gunboat games today, all of which have been spoiled by no-shows and cds. Frankly, I find it ridiculous that 3 games be ruined this way. If anyone is interested in doing it properly, I will create a 50 point buy-in game scheduled to start in 30 minutes. If you join, show up.
