Why cant I build in Sweden?
in Game 18212, I have the option to build 2 units, that is correct.
I control the SC in Sweden, but I get no option to build there, an army nor a fleet. I can build elsewhere, but Sweden does not appear as an option.

I am not complaining to the Admins as if this is a big or unfair... I am new to the game, so I am asking anyone if this might be part of the rules and there might be a valid reason this is not allowed?

Interesting Game-Testicle Festival
http://www.webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=16852
Just finished this game and thought it might interest people. Italy ended up with a pretty good stalemate line against England and France, but with enough free SCs within the line to win. It became a race between Italy trying to gobble up the last few SCs before England and France could break through.

Can you support a enemy's attack on your own troops?
If I remember correctly, if you make a supported attack on your own troops it will fail. But what if you use one of your units to support the enemy's attack on one of your troops? Will that support be effective?

Possible Esperanto Game
Hey, I was wondering whether there were enough Esperantists on the site for a game in Esperanto? I've started learning it myself lately, and Diplomacy would be a good chance to use vocabulary I don't otherwise use, like, "Let us crush Turkey beneath our jackboots!" If there are enough people, I'll start a game. Anyone up for it?

@kestasjk: If you integrate the new text-overlay don't forget to update the coordinates of the units too. Looks _much_ better. Full patch in the variants thread on the developer forums.

There's an error whilst posting as gamemaster (ie a mod-only bug).
I think you've lost a quotation mark from the SQL, but I'm not sure - haven't checked the code.
Troodonte (3379 D)
03 Jan 10 UTC
Don't know if it was noticed already, but when you you click in 'messages' in any game, to see the global chat window of a game you are not in, the messages are all written in black, so it is impossible to know which country wrote them.
figlesquidge (2131 D)

I don't get this: do others?
figlesquidge (2131 D)
03 Jan 10 UTC
Oh, it would be great to have a notification pop up in the game warnings alert bar (top of the page) to say when you have a new Message on your homepage to look at - would this be alright with you? Not hard to add.
Alderian (2425 D(S))
04 Jan 10 UTC
figlesquidge, when I go into your profile and open your first game and click on Messages to see the global chat, I also see everything in black. You'd need to look at someone elses game to see the same thing I'd guess.

In any case, I'm on Firefox 3.5.6 and Windows XP.

What is up with "Turn 0/??" under the small maps instead of "Spring, 1901"? And what is this "Pre-game" map that has the pre-game borders, no lines or arrows, the units in their present positions and mysterious black armies (The real Germany?)?

IE 8 (Vista)
dave bishop (4694 D)

I also see all global messages as black so you don't know who wrote them.
figlesquidge (2131 D)

I know Ald, I get this looking up other peoples games, but I get a different view from the rest of you, because as a mod I can (subject to the bug I posted above) post in there.
gjdip (1084 D)

When I go to the messages archive all I see are messages from Global, all in black. No private messages.

Ill try and go through and resolve the issues people are experiencing here tomorrow, but I am glad the issues that have come up in this pretty major update have been fairly minor so far :-)
No dread is greater than checking out the forum and seeing a whole load of e.g. "my units are missing" threads

fig, I was just responding to your "I don't get this: do others?" question assuming that was in response to Troodonte's bug report confirming that I too saw the same thing. :)
figlesquidge (2131 D)
04 Jan 10 UTC
ah right sorry, I thought you meant you get it in your own games? Or is it just when you look at other peoples
Troodonte (3379 D)
04 Jan 10 UTC
I'm sure it is in other peoples games.
Tantris (2456 D)
04 Jan 10 UTC
The message archive no longer seems to work correctly. The messages are not color coded nor labeled with country that was speaking, and it is only for global chat, not the others.
Troodonte (3379 D)
04 Jan 10 UTC
True, not only the global chat of others games but the message archive of my finished games are not coloured too.

This should be fixed now

>That's rather annoying.
Well long names break the home-page column sizes in some browsers. With this restriction all browsers look right and the glitchy mouse-overs that some were reporting aren't a problem.
Things like URLs can go in the thread body really, and there are no words longer than 25 characters. I think it's an okay compromise

Ah yes, oops, that should work again now

Yup it's on the todo list

Can't reproduce black armies or arrowless maps, but I have improved the Turn x/y thing

Not really a bug, but the page below has an outdated sentence on it:
http://www.webdiplomacy.net/points.php#ppscwta

States that WTA is only available to people with more than 100 D, and that was changed several versions ago, if I'm not mistaken.

Sounds good. As you said, mod writing works.
bzl (226 D)

Just noticed a weird thing that may be related to the change somehow:

http://www.webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=15686

In this game Russia went CD after the Fall 06 turn; this happened Friday evening sometime, maybe sixteen hours before the code updates started. The game just moved on to Spring 07 about an hour ago and Russia appears to be alive and well again-- same player, no notice that someone had taken over.

It probably doesn't matter a whole lot either way, but it might be something to look at.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
05 Jan 10 UTC
If you log back onto a game where you've gone CD you can continue playing.
bzl (226 D)
05 Jan 10 UTC
Oh, that's interesting, I didn't know that. It seems like kind of a bad idea, though, doesn't it? I mean, in this game the guy quit entering moves when things turned bad for him and he's just making the rest of us wait out the full three days per phase. I'm surprised to learn that he can continue to do that indefinitely.
