I'm not at all great on the Ghost ratings-

Even still, if there's a spot I'd love to give it a shot and go.

i would love top participate but my ghost rating isn't too peachy

well, since all that really matters in terms of representing the diploforce of our site, only the main league will get much attention

b and c leagues would be mostly overlooked

I must say I think Jacob's idea of choosing captains and vice-captains for teams A, B and C, and then letting them decide for themselves.

Quite possibly discussing it among themselves or on the forum.

Note: the additional teams are dependant on the number of entries.

Ghost, how has the response been from stabenfrou, playdip, FB, diplomaticcorp, Cat23, ACD, worldleaders? have you gotten any response yet?

i brought it up at the temptest tournament in DC and it got a cool reception - the FTF tourney crowd has quite a snobby attitude towards online dip and many feel that the online version of the game (php, PBEM, or even judges) are just not worth their time...

of course I disagree with them, but I think you'll face some resistance from that crowd.

anybody know korean? i'de like for someone to send the korean site an invite =) not the english korean site though because i doubt there are enough players on there anyways.

Having individuals pick up the teams has a good element, but might lead to whining, personal accusations and etc. No need to have the captains start on a negative note.

How about:
1. We come up with a way to select 12 people (the dirty dozen :)
2. Three of these are elected captains (by popular votes)
3. The captains draft team members (NBA style)
4. The captains pick 1 wild card and, if needed, the substitutes

we could start by nominating on here who we think should be captains.

Babak, I would have expected as much with FtF players.

I have had a message about facebook, and one from a South African group. Other sites haven't sent me anything. (Nor has webdip, though, so....)

Nominating captains seems to me to be a good place to start. We need to check they're willing as well as able, though.

Could I nominate diplomat1824 as one team captain? We may as well have a laugh whilst we are playing.

We'll probably have a pretty sparse group the first go-round, but maybe after someone writes up an account on it in the zine there will be more teams next time.

though i really appreciate the support guys, I dont know if i'll have the time to captain. also, there is a possibility that I might play for the FB first team (I think FB qualifies for 2 teams). Though my first choice would be to be in the first team from webdip, I honestly think there are easily 5 better players than me on this site.

Ghost - I think the different dip communities need to be sent 'formal' invites to submit teams ... but I suspect, other communities will have the same problem we are having here... which is to say having a hard time to figure out who should be on their teams and who should be captain etc... and most likely, because of your ghost rating system, we are arguably better positioned on webdip to nominate a 'consensus choice' team than other sites where decisions are even more arbitrary.

Babak, I can't think of five better players than you on this site, you'd be my choice as top player of WebDip's top team (assuming Rait's too busy, which he has said in a game I'm in with him), but that's just my two cents...

Anyway, this sounds very interesting to me, I'd enjoy participating, though I'm one of the most over-rated players on this site (based on points and/or Ghost-Rating)...

PS - I really liked Jacob's thoughts on a putting together a team and very much liked his recommendation, though I suppose that's partially because he included me on his list... and he knew enough to put Babak on the team as well, though part of that is having the opportunity to play Babak and know his high skill level, not everyone has had the pleasure... which I can also say for Jacob, those two would certainly be on my short list for WebDip's top team...

DJEcc24 - I really do appreciate you nominating me - but I think we haven't played a single game together here (the Korean site does not really count)? :)

We also have a number of people that should be in any list (Marek, Rait, TMG) but are not so active anymore, not sure if we can them get to participate?

I haven't played enough with Marek and TMG to really be able to evaluate them. Rait, well, let's just say we have very different play styles =)

One point about America, Europe and Rest of world teams: The teams need to be clearly split into A, B and C etc.
