Interesting read
I'd like to hear what the right wing thinkers (and not trolls) think of this article, as well as the liberals here.

Mostly a criticism of market liberalism: https://jacobinmag.com/2017/05/handmaids-tale-margaret-atwood-trump-abortion-theocracy

Tax dodging and capital flight
Ok, this youtube video discusses it. In brief, company extracts mineral wealth, sells for a low price to parent company based in a tax haven, declares no/very little profit. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ocm42ytXto )

Probably not in the Bible but...
Before Jesus took over John's ministry what did people think of the fact that a man in his upper 20s wasn't married and had no children? Wouldn't that have been exceedingly rare at the time?

I am retiring from Trolling
I will henceforth focus my efforts on promoting games, offering opinions on actual issues and an occasional contribution that may be amusing. My goal was never to see the forum overrun with nonsense. Sadly its becoming unreadable and the threads are so abundant that trolling is now all thats happening. Sorry webdip for ushering in this era.

Completely unrelated thought
You can easily walk out the door and abandon your life, start over and become a new person. But can you do the same to your mindset? Can you drop all previous prejudices/perspectives/opinions, (but not facts) and build a new world view? A new model for interacting with reality?

Apologies to the community
I seriously lost my cool last night, and I'm quite sorry. Although we discuss very serious, and sometimes life or death issues for some, that tone is way out of bounds.

Lets be real most of the things yanik claims to believe in he cant possibly actually practice...

Of course Yanik crossed the line. You can't reveal other people's stupidity and go unpunished.

I was the target of the attack, but frankly I don't like seeing people banned for speaking their mind. I wish Krellin and his antics still were allowed, but the rules must be consistent. Nonetheless, any temporary silence seems unimportant now... I accept Ogion's apology, but I really want everyone to be looked at by the same standards

The dudes a freshman in college worrying about libertarian tax policies. Probably read alot about stuff and decided itd be fun to pretend to be concerned about liberty and taxation on the upper 1% (also was a Hillary voter supposedly).

Meanwhile Ogion is a freakin lawyer - who actually pays taxes and actually understands real laws... not just Ron Paul talking points.

Just saying...

@brainbomb

I'm not nearly as libertarian as you think, and I defintely voted for Hillary. She's a horrible liar, but as long as she lies to Democrats I take some solace in that fact.

I believe in liberal policies that allow for a stable transition to a more free society where the government fixes market failures not by seizing control of industries nor subsidizng monopolies, but actually address the specific problem, whatever it may be

He's not a freshman. He's a sophomore. The school year is over.

So he's like 19,20. Wow. Now I'm even more impressed. Yanik, I'll be very disappointed if you don't become a congressman or a senator. I want to brag about knowing you when you were just a smart kid.

Wtf did someone just call James a smart kid who should go into politics? He's a borderline sociopath who doesn't understand logic. Probably works for the US I guess. I'm going back to ignoring the forums now.

Yanik, were you really a Hillary voter? Sheesh, I didn't even vote for her!
JamesYanik (548 D)

She was much more centrist in some ways... frankly it was more of an advoid Trump vote, otherwise I wouldn't have voted.

Of course I'm also in Oklahoma so does it matter?

"Gary Johnson is a pathetic libertarian candidate, they messed up putting him forward"

I think "pathetic" is a little harsh, but he was definitely very libertarian lite. I would have certainly preferred someone else.

JamesYanik (548 D)

Let's not lie, he never stopped blazing. still managed to double the libertarian vote from 2012 though. depending on whether or not Democrats consolidate with centrists, we might see a giant libertarian upsurge
TrPrado (461 D)
17 May 17 UTC
No. He totally stopped. That's why he was out of his right mind. At least, that's what I heard from my friend who helped give Oklahoma higher Libertarian vote margins than most of the rest of the country.
ND (879 D)

Johnson was just a Democrat plant to siphon votes from the GOP. I've seen them do that many times in Virginia. Every state-wide election they throw up a libertarian who happens to mysteriously get funding from Soros. When they realized that Johnson was taking more votes from Clinton then Trump they tanked him.
Hauta (1618 D(S))

Damn, I'd hate to be Gary Johnson, reading this thread where the argument is whether he was out of his mind because he was on drugs or off of them!
ND (879 D)

Kind of like how GOP operatives made sure the Reform Party wasn't going to be a problem to the GOP like it was in 1992 and 1996.
Hauta (1618 D(S))
17 May 17 UTC
@ND, that actually makes sense. On the other side, Jill Stein was at the same dinner table with Flynn and Putin so it works both ways. Only a fool votes "3rd party".
ND (879 D)
17 May 17 UTC
Eh, yeah I guess although the Green Party has far less access to state ballots then the Libertarian Party. People who wanted Stein in like half of the states had to write her name in.

About those earth rays..
Years ago, I started a discussion (and an infrequently used meme) about how I used to have severe headaches as a small child until a small metal device that my parents can't describe very well was buried in the frontyard and my headaches disappeared overnight. My parents cited mythical earth rays as the cause of the problem. The brilliant minds of webdip saw a placebo effect as the only possible answer. I found another possible explanation and would like your thoughts.

Barron von Trump just got admitted...
to middle school at St. Andrews Episcopal in DC. "Melania Trump cited the school’s diversity and academics as the reason behind the selection"
This was reported by Time Magazine.

Is anyone here aware of what kind of diversity a school with 38k tuition has? Even CAPT_Brad can't afford that!
