Is it? Faced with a nation that is hell bent on world destruction, wouldn't war be justified as a last resort? Americans largely agreed hat attacking Iraq in the event that it had weapons of mass destruction that it would use against the US (a total lie, but a lot of votes came on that premise) would be justified. Given that, why would Mauritius or Kiribati not be fully jstified in sending nudes commandos to blow up coal plants, mines and oil installations? We went to war against the Nazis for a lot less.

Make no mistake, the Us is engaging in activities that are so destructive to other nations as to be acts of war and is the ONLY nation that seems inclined not to change its ways. Given a choice between destruction of human civilization and two to four billion dead and war against the US wouldn't the war be preferable?

I agree that the US needs to do much more to address climate change, but declaring war on the US would not solve the problem and it's insane that it would be even suggested.

I didn't claim that the US isn't the only one contributing. It is by far the single biggest contributor in total (e.g. look at total cumulative emissions since 1700, say). The US by itself is responsible for a over a quarter of the 545 GT emitted since 1850. Europe is responsible for another quarter. Clearly, those are the two entities that ought to pick up half the tabe between them instead of doing nothing. Only China and Russia top 5% other than those two.

Well what other solutions are there? The best would of course for Americans to wake the fuck up and address the problem but clearly that isn't going to happen. Given that there are very very few of us in the US who have gone off fossil fuels, how could you possibly say it is due to the acts of the few? Americans vote in large numbers for climate change deniers and act in even larger numbers to burn shit tons of fossil fuels. If there ever was a case for national culpability based on the acts of virtually everyone, this would be it.

And unlike the Nazis, our climate change denying government was elected by pretty close to a majority and its acts are supported by well over 95% of the people. And the consequences are vastly worse than what the Nazis were up to. Climate change is on track to surpass the Nazis body count ten times over by mid century.

So, we need plan B. Obviously sanctions would be first, and bringing the US economy to its knees would do a lot of good. However, there's no guarantee that that would do enough.

So if sanctions don't work, and the US continues to persist with its civilization destruction program, why wouldn't or shouldn't other countries threatened with extinction take action? What is your case for just letting the US fuck up the earth?

I'm not saying the US should be allowed to ruin the earth. I'm saying that going to war with America will not work because either the offending countries will be destroyed and nothing will change or the earth will truly be destroyed with a nuclear winter.

Frankly, I think the notion of the world imposing sanctions alone would do a lot to focus the attention of Americans. Blowing up a few coal plants would also. If the US wants to nuke the Mauritius in response, the US president would certainly end up living out his life in a cell in the Hague if he ever stepped foot outside the US.

Have Pence's Filipino jailers received sufficient funds to spring him yet? Maybe we should start a fundraiser to counter those efforts to keep him there.

California has had virtual democrat control of the legislature since the 1950's
so who is to blame here? Oh i know, unfettered undocumented immigration since the 1970's of people with no english skills (often no spanish either) in non-english speaking homes. who's parents take out the girls by high school and who's attitude towards education is to knock down any achievers. I lived that discrimination myself as did my father.

Ogion speaks from a position of WHITE PRIVILEGE whereas myself and my father have faced discrimination of Spanish speakers. my father refused to have me learn Spanish growing up so i would have a better chance in a white world where i could 'pass'.

Ogion's only solution is to either blame someone else or throw money at the system while he preaches 'tolerance' as he enables the breakdown of traditional moral values.
