It's also worth considering what roles black people win for. The vast majority of the characters are poor or criminals or in some other way representing something seen as "topically black". You hardly ever see a minority win for a role like pretty much any of the ones that were nominated this year, and any time a black person is even cast in a role not "typically black", it's news enough to cause an outage among a multitude of racists.

Gary Oldman is an excellent actor. Not top 20 of all time however. Top 10% of all time? Maybe. 20%? Almost certainly.

He won't ever get any roles that may land him an Oscar after his controversial interview last year.
