Why do in-game messages appear multiple times.
As title -- Most messages sent to me repeat over the course of several days. Can someone explain why this happens?

Why are people so angry?

Are you angry? Why?

Yes, he called what I said hollow without even knowing what destination I was using.

Lethologica (203 D)

Rather, wjessop said it was hollow because its destination was vague to the point of meaninglessness, trip. Are you going to clarify your destination, or are you going to bitch and moan about people being close-minded when they weren't?
Lethologica (203 D)
04 Feb 16 UTC

(I think 'destination' serves just fine, actually, but we can discuss this with whatever terms you like.)
trip (696 D(B))
04 Feb 16 UTC
Nobody forced him to comment on what I said, Leth. Not sure how your turning this around on me.

I won't deny your your right to believe what you want. Trying to would be a waste of time for both of us.

I'm just responding to your attempt to cast wjessop's offering of his perspective as a close-minded denial of your own.

So, when you say pride is as necessary to man as breathing, what exactly is it that you're saying is necessary?
trip (696 D(B))

Pride.

04 Feb 16 UTC
Do you believe that pride is not a universal human emotion?
steephie22 (182 D(S))
04 Feb 16 UTC
The whole point is your statement means nothing as long as you don't define what pride means to you.

Sorry for spoiling it.
trip (696 D(B))
04 Feb 16 UTC
So a person can put down what I say without even bothering to find out what definition of a word I'm using, and its my fault. Got it. Thx
steephie22 (182 D(S))
04 Feb 16 UTC
(+1)
He didn't do that. He explained why your statement meant nothing yet with.his statement. Whether that was your cue to define pride or get all defensive was entirely up to you.

Keep in mind I have nothing against you. I just like straightforward.
trip (696 D(B))
04 Feb 16 UTC
Not taking it that way steephie. I think at this point we're talking in circle and going nowhere. You believe what you want. I'll believe what I want.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
04 Feb 16 UTC
Sure.
trip (696 D(B))
04 Feb 16 UTC
Well, one last thing, and I'm really not trying to drag this out further: I was responding to someone else who did not list a definition for pride, which is why I also didn't list a definition of pride. The definition wasn't what the discussion was about until wjessop brought it up.

End.

Thanks Lethologica! Appreciated, to know you're on my side

Trip: your long response post aimed at me read like it was dripping with passive aggression. "A thing called a job", really? Why so aggressive to make that point? I don't understand where that's coming from, we're just talking politics here.

I wasn't really angry at any point wjessop.

I'm direct, and at times a bit snarky, which does come off as angry, particularly in written form. Apologies for the work comment.
wjessop (100 DX)
04 Feb 16 UTC
I don't want to go round in circles -- I'm glad for the apology and I'm really not in any way worried about this storm in an online teacup; though, you could've apologised for calling me close-minded, which I was not being.

Lethologica and steephie have already very patiently explained this anyway.

Besides, I recall reading somewhere that Americans are feeling more angry and reactionary at the moment so maybe it proves that point... :P

The media is feeding a fire of class envy in the country, splitting us into factions that won't talk to each other.

On the one side you have the 'free checks for everyone' crowd that thinks everyone is entitled to 'x' standard of living without making any effort on their own part to provide for themselves, and the government should solve all their problems.

At the other end you have the 'God, guns, and guts' crowd that resents anyone they perceive as freeloaders that won't solve their own problems and wants nothing to do with the government.

The media is pushing us to those extremes and we're learning to hate each other, instead of talking things out and finding that place in the middle that we can all live with and actually solve whatever problems are facing us.

There's no money to be made by encouraging consensus. Whichever end of the spectrum you might fall on (neither is entirely right or entirely wrong in my book), we're being sold a bill of goods by the media and respective faction 'leaders' that only serves their ends.

Yes, we're angry, but at the wrong people for the wrong reasons.
Jeff Kuta (2066 D)
05 Feb 16 UTC
Our problems cannot be blamed on "the media" whatever that bogeyman might be depending on your political persuasion. Clickbait and outrage mills exist and can stoke the flames, but the underlying sparks were always present. Getting angry at "the media" is a convenient way for those truly in power to deflect one's attention from the real problems such as rising inequality (economic elites rule) and political access (government elites rule).

wjessop (100 DX)

You really think it's the media that's most stoking class division in America? And not an economic system that produces inequality and relies on uneven development where the super rich live in vastly superior conditions than the rest of the population combined?

Please Read Mods!!
I am planning on organising a tournament at my school, and to make the games have the right people in the right positions, I am asking any mod who might be willing to help me to reply or PM me. All I would be asking is that the mod would take a list of countries with which user should be each, and switch the people to their correct country's. Thank you all :)
