I have been PMing with Captainmeme about this. Please keep discussing how you guys want the signup process to work.

I have to admit, I did like playing with stupidfighter, his flavor was wonderful.

Was he? I honestly have a hard time remembering that game, but I remember Thucy being a big factor. Didn't town win? Or was that the draw?

Mafia won because krellin lynched me over abge.

Abge was Mafia MVP in M1, Thucy was Town MVP.

Thucy correctly identified all 3 remaining mafia the night before his death through voting connections to the lynched mafia member (me), and shot one overnight. The town did not pay much attention to these reads, though.

Abge won the game as the only remaining mafia member, after a very interesting LYLO phase. He had managed to buddy Krellin extremely well and that payed off in the endgame.

I don't think giving people a limited number of votes is a good idea, as it either leads to only a few top players getting votes or people voting strategically by guessing that their top choices will get votes from others and voting for other candidates. I think having everyone rank the eligible players could be interesting (we'd probably want to do sign-ups first so as to not waste time on people who wouldn't play.

I also think 20 is too many. 13 or 17 is best.

Also, I think we need to consider banning the oracle role. Optimal strategy seems to be to claim early and give yourself a confirmed townie (Mafia won't CC because we'd just lynch both if necessary), which is really uninteresting.

Ideally there would be 4 mafia, 3 town power roles, and a third party. Alternatively, 5/4 on mafia/town PR if more numbers.

IDK about the third party, I'd prefer just straight-up town v mafia

I think the best way to do it would be an overall check list of players, and have people pick anyone they thought should be in it. And then, GM would take that list, tally it up, and maybe make some discretionary picks.

If there is a third party, it would have to be Arsonist. Amazing role if played well enough.

So I have been talking to Captainmeme. It looks like we will be doing some game invitations to members. Captainmeme who has played with some of these players is going to extend the invitations. After we see who is interested or not we will be opening the rest up to voting (with some requirements). We are still hashing out these details and looking to this thread for input on all matters.

Captainmeme feel free to correct me if I am wrong on any of this.

We will need a few days to put these plans in motion and see who is interested, but I will regularly update this thread with information.

To clarify - it will be mostly voting, but there will be a few GM invitations to some players, particularly key players in the older games who most of the voting players would not have played with.

You would think that an All-Stars game would be on the larger end in order to accommodate everyone.

As for role ideas: I'm sure Captain has plenty of his own, and wants to GM for a reason :p

I'm not a fan of scum PRs either. The game should be primarily about interactions, with a few roles added in for flavor and balance, not dominated by the roles.

I've been interested in GM'ing a beginner's game; would it break too many mirrors if we had two running at the same time, assuming mutually exclusive participation? Sorry if it's a bit of a hijack

We could have an All-Stars game running concurrent with a regular old Mafia game. One of us regular GM types like Vash, bo, or myself could even help out with GMing.
