Feminism, Authoritarianism and Gender
I hesitate to post this, but i wonder where discussion will lead...
Is Gender socially constructed? Is there a difference between gender identity and gender expression? What other issues does this raise?

Why'd You Choose Your Username?
It's a decision we all make, and one we have to life with for the rest of our time on this site; choosing a username. Some choose their own name, their initials, a historical figure or even a reference to a movie or TV show. So I ask all of you, just why did you choose that username you have?

I picked mine because I like lord of the rings, and I made my best friend in eighth grade when he made up this character named sammitchgamgee in improv and I thought it was so funny and now we're really good friends.
yassem (2533 D)
21 May 15 UTC
Mine is just my surname with "J" changed to "Y". I have it absolutely on every site I use, so I don't have to think much when logging-in. Also, I like it because it's very rare name, especially in Poland, so when "yassem" is already taken I just take "yassemPL" and I'm guaranteed to get it.
Mine was on a T-Shirt "Yes, I'm one of those crazy Episcopalians." I liked Crazy Anglican better than Crazy Episcopalian.

Just in case you don't know any Latin, nescio's response is very clever. He replied "I don't know!"
In Latin his handle means "I don't know".

Mine is quite boring. It's my first name, the initial of my surname, the final two digits of the year in which I first needed to choose a username for something online, and the country I'm in.

I am (half) Greek, and I've been to a few riots there. I use this or another variation of the Riot name pretty much everywhere; consequently Riot is my general internet nickname. Though it morphed to HR here.

"I am (half) Greek, and I've been to a few riots there. I use this or another variation of the Riot name pretty much everywhere; consequently Riot is my general internet nickname. Though it morphed to HR here."

I like that final part of the explanation. The dismal, corporate, functional connotations of "HR" being so the antithesis of every other aspect and intention of your name.

I was once a normal person. At the age of 17, I was struck by an unseen force that gave me incredible power. I was able to lift 1000 lbs of paper with a forklift and could run faster than any kid in elementary school.

With my new found I trained myself to wield a sword with a lack of skill that still astounds people today. Couple that with the fact that women act like I'm invisible, it became clear that I had to become the Tru Ninja.

Favorite Quotes
I've always enjoyed little concentrated nuggets of wisdom and any opportunity to expand my collection. What are some of your favorite quotes?

From Benjamin Franklin's autobiography:
