Synesthesia

I have always known that I perceive letters and numbers to have colors, but only just recently have I discovered that this condition has a name - Synesthesia. I'm curious as to whether anyone else on webDip thinks the letter K looks green or the letter A looks red...

Thoughts?

To steal yet another idea from abge:
A 2/3 majority vote from player's on a team is required to resign. Team members are those who have made a move.

I'm setting the vote bar somewhat high since even playing out a lost game in go can be a helpful exercise. Also, I figure that if 1/3 of the team still wants to play it out, why stop them?

Yea it's a little hard to pick out the white pieces but I think they decided this was the best way to do a grid, based on the testing thread.

Yeah, sorry about the board. I agree that the white pieces are a bit hard to pick up. Let me try changing them to rooks.

If anyone has any other suggestions, please feel free to try them out. We really just need three easily distinguishable characters that are supported across multiple platform's default sans serif font family while having uniform width.

White has entered our top-left corner with the 3-3 invasion undercutting our 4-4 stone.

Given reasonable play, white will be able to find life in the corner and thus steal that territory. The reasonable counter-play by black is to keep that invasion well-contained to the corner, while ceding as little territory as possible. This would trade corner territory for the central influence gained from the containing stones.

I've played every other black stone so far, so I think I'll hold off for now to see if anyone else wants to get involved on team black.

@Shirley, I fully agree that we should have more discussion as we go along. I will try to add more to the discussion. Hopefully, some of the other experienced players on this thread can also contribute.

5x5 and 7x7 games are good for getting familiar with the basic mechanics of the game, but they tend to be small, singular tactical fights. I would recommend progressing onto 9x9 and 13x13 games. They don't require too much more time than the smaller boards, but the balance between large-scale strategic aims and small-scale tactical needs starts to come into the picture.

@ulytau, you seem to know something about go? Want to offer some insights on the game in progress?

I disagree w/ yebellz re: the white piece in the upper left. At this stage it is simply a white piece, Black has more presence in this part of the board - should white continue to place pieces up there then yes white should be contained. More important IMHO is to establish an early presence for black in a region that could become contentious later.

Playing elsewhere is fine as well. It's a matter of determining whether the 3-3 invasion should be answered at this point. I'm not really experienced enough to say whether we should.
