On Social Contracts and Their Existence
It's late where I am and I was thinking about this post:
http://trolleyproblem.blogspot.com/2012/02/why-social-contract-arguments-are.html

So what do y'all think about the social contract and the legitimacy of government? Does it exist? If so to what extent? Please discuss.

What I mean is that you have to read articles from every angle, analyze it and then form an opinion from there. If you didn't watch it and form your own opinion then listening to one resource is not the correct way to form a true and honest opinion.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

No shit, Sherlock. That has nothing to do with the credibility of the New York Times.
ND (879 D)
05 Oct 16 UTC
@Bo: Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine have called everyone who votes for Trump an irredeemable deplorable. That is insulting literally half the electorate. That's tens of millions of people. Nice try, but their campaign has insulted half the country (at least).
brainbomb (290 D)
05 Oct 16 UTC
ND you repeating over and over someone was insane actually makes me think Kaine seems more and more reasonable. He asked questions we want real answers to
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
05 Oct 16 UTC
I did not say that they didn't. Political campaigns nowadays are run on insults, which aren't convincing to intelligent people.
ND (879 D)
05 Oct 16 UTC
They run an insult driven campaign and got called out for it. Calling Kaine a batman villain is nothing compared to insulting 40-50 million people (at least). And, Trump is right Kaine and Clinton are like batman villains because their aim is to continue destroying this country a process starting by Obama.

Trumps entire life is a bigoted one man misogyny train. You expect us to host a pity party candle light vigil for him? Gtfo ND even you arent that stupid

And no. Name even one failed Obama policy.
ND (879 D)
05 Oct 16 UTC
@Brainbomb: I reject that talking point Brain. I completely reject it because it isn't based in reality at all. As will the electorate. See, we want to talk about the issues and not the Clinton-Kaine insult driven campaign. Stop throwing around nonsense talking points it's pretty sick.
ND (879 D)

-Foreign Policy = ISIS-
-Massive Obamacare failures -see Minnesota this week- which prompted Bill Clinton to call it "crazy" today.-
-Poor growth rate for four years straight-

That's three issues.

The electorate is looking like 300+ electoral votes for hillary. Sorry to burst your bubble homey. Its basically down to if Trump can even take Ohio.

One failed Obama policy? That's not hard.

• Failure to eradicate al-Qaida
• Failure to close Guantanamo
• Being so freaking cozy with the banks he bailed out
• "Race to the Top" schools
• Libya, which he admits
• Drones
• Dedication to secrecy, ramping up metadata collection
• NAFTA on steriods
• Propping up coal
• Propping up Saudi Arabia

That's just off the top of my head.

ND (879 D)

Pretty sure this is going to be a Trump landslide in November. People are going to reject the failed Presidency of Obama and the insult driven campaign by Hillary Clinton.

Pretty sure you will be quoted on that ND. Ill be nice tho. I think you are a nice guy and a good friend. But I may laugh at your expense. " A trump landslide"
ND (879 D)

@Brain: Trump had a bad debate and has dipped in some state polls. He has about 4 weeks to turn it around which is doable.
brainbomb (290 D)

Trumps even losing Nevada currently. Basically all you got left is Hillary dies of pnuenonia or gets arreated.
ND (879 D)

If I am wrong then I am wrong. It just means a lot of people will suffer another four years.

Four years of suffering despite which of these two are elected. My favorite part of the debate was when the moderator called out both candidates' economic plans for being shit.

Is there pizza in here?
BusDespres (182 D)

Pepperoni or Hawaiian? And the thing is is that the polls show people willing to actually be involved in the polls. We seem to forget all the in the closet Trump people who won't publicly support him but will stay in the closet u till election did and put a check mark by his name. Unfortunately I believe Trump is going to win this election. He will either fix our country, or we all get front row seats to watching the world burn.
Red-Lion (382 D)

I could kill for a pepperoni pizza right about now.

Feature discussion: newbie diplomacy
So, one feature that would be amazing for new players is a "test the waters" mode for diplomacy.

Something that new players could try to see if they like Diplomacy, without the commitment to a four month game checking the site every day, or setting aside five hours for a live game. Maybe it's a short game up until 1902? I have no idea. Ideas?

How do people communicate in Gunboat?
I'm playing in a couple gunboat games, and it seems like other players are working well together, with regards to support and such. I trust they are not messaging each other, and so I would like to know how they figure out what the other players are going to do.
