On Social Contracts and Their Existence
It's late where I am and I was thinking about this post:
http://trolleyproblem.blogspot.com/2012/02/why-social-contract-arguments-are.html

So what do y'all think about the social contract and the legitimacy of government? Does it exist? If so to what extent? Please discuss.

Dearest Ogion
Ahem, since my dear friend, JamesYanik, is muted by you, he has specially requested me to inform you of the following posts:
"You can't blame Republican policies SOLELY for the crash, Clinton did nothing to help it, and Carter was the actual first president it began under, not Reagan like many assume

that said, yes Republicans are to blame, but Democrats do NOT come off scot free"

"Also @Ogion,

lowering the deficit is in terms of government spending. So after the crash, Obama made a conscious decision to pump trillions in Stimulus, knocking up the federal debt.

That wasn't necessary, and the fact that he used much of the gov'ts money to bail out the big banks is ridiculous, they should have been allowed to fail.

Balancing the budget is not the most difficult thing ever, it's just both political parties are to incentivized NOT to balance it. Gary Johnson balanced a deficit in New Mexico. He's shit at foreign policy so he may no get my vote, but he's honest at least"

I'm quite sure this discussion will be even more fun due to this addition, and I look forward to the future.
I agree. I am not for overturning the whole system. Getting some additional voices in there would be great.

A great article detailing Hillary Clinton's relentless defamation of Bill Clinton's victims: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/03/us/politics/hillary-bill-clinton-women.html?_r=0

It shows the viciousness and totalitarian attitude of Hillary Clinton. Electing such a woman as President would be incredibly sinister to the future of America.

Memorable Passages:

"The campaign hired a private investigator with a bare-knuckles reputation who embarked on a mission, as he put it in a memo, to impugn Ms. Flowers’s “character and veracity until she is destroyed beyond all recognition.""

"But Mrs. Clinton demanded action.

“We have to destroy her story,” she said, according to Mr. Stephanopoulos."

"Back on a plane that night, Mrs. Clinton told Ms. Sheehy that if she were to question Ms. Flowers in front of a jury, “I would crucify her.”"

It was less shit than the ones their running mates put on. They both gave solid points and did well, but failed to defend their running mates from what the other side was saying.

You can't use the NYTimes as a credible source when they are extremely oases for Clinton lol
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

The New York Times is a perfectly credible source and no amount of slander against it by the Trump campaign is going to change that.

Abc news, USA today and cnn are all reporting Kaine won. Fox News claims Pence won in a landslide. Yer right. I better believe Fox. Theyre least biased.

We will see what the scientific polls say following the debate, but Kaine really appeared as an unhinged maniac. He looked like a complete nut job and was totally unhinged. He got completely destroyed and the post-debate scientific polls will reflect that. Sorry, but your little mad hatter lost big.
BusDespres (182 D)

Any American Media is not credible when talking about politics. Everyone is biased towards someone. You have to get sources that have no ties to the U.S.
ND (879 D)

I am still laughing at how insane Tim Kaine appeared and how utterly he got destroyed in that debate.

You don't think sources without ties to the US are biased? That's pretty mad. Just because they don't necessarily endorse a candidate doesn't mean they don't have political leanings and don't take sides.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Pence threw Trump under the bus on multiple occasions. I was pretty proud of him. As terrible a Governor and Congressman as he was, he knows when he needs political leverage. Trump also threw himself under the bus by tweeting insults while Pence tried to claim that the campaign wasn't run on insults. Good shit.

Feature discussion: newbie diplomacy
So, one feature that would be amazing for new players is a "test the waters" mode for diplomacy.

Something that new players could try to see if they like Diplomacy, without the commitment to a four month game checking the site every day, or setting aside five hours for a live game. Maybe it's a short game up until 1902? I have no idea. Ideas?

How do people communicate in Gunboat?
I'm playing in a couple gunboat games, and it seems like other players are working well together, with regards to support and such. I trust they are not messaging each other, and so I would like to know how they figure out what the other players are going to do.
