longest games
Hi, I'm a player in Wittlesbach Interruption and we are on Spring 1916. Since I've started playing online Diplomacy I've noticed most games end around 1907 give or take a year. We're at 1916 and the leading player has only 11 SC. We are also on our third leader in this game. Anyone else play a very long game?

Regular reports of cheaters in games posted on the forum
Here's a little bit of advice for all the new / inexperienced guys out there. If you do your homework before or at the start of a game, you don't have to worry about joining these types of games becoming a problem. What I mean by "doing your homework" is to check the profile of the guys with whom you're playing (so long as it isn't an anonymous game). Here are some things on what to look for:

did the zero SC survive get fixed or do you have to have a unit to get it?
I just took a nations last SC for the win, but they got eliminated. I physically took it in the spring forcing a disband so I'm guessing you either have to have a unit to get the survive or the problem was fixed.

Well, gram, I only noticed one, so perhaps it wasn't. Just seems silly to fake convoy an army there. Mind telling me the reasoning?

Game 1 is over in Group B.

Congrats to Frank for the win, some silly moves made by the lesser powers in that game, such as Russia and Austria, imho.

I was Turkey, and, while I had stopped making moves towards Austria (and had not made any towards Russia) they both turned and attacked me, giving Germany (Frank) Enough wide open SCs to win the game.

Good game, anyways.

BUAHAHA. That's a stalemate line right there in Game 1 of Group D. Now I calculate that I have a 63% chance of making it into the semis!
Probably best to not comment on the game TBroad, it is still going despite how the board may look.
TBroadley (178 D)

TrustMe (106 D)

Don't see how commenting can hurt since he isn't in the game.
But there are three people in a no-press game that now can read someone's (outside observer's) opinion of how the game should end.

I wouldn't worry too much TBroad. The comment above was for TrustMe's benefit.

good game again, group b. i look forward to facing barn3tt and the gang in round 2.

@kingdroid: i think your criticisms have some merit; it is often hard to judge when to abandon one's own dreams of expansion and focus on stalemating. the outcome of this game shows that you guys were late to start thinking stalemate. but don't you think you were also guilty of this behaviour? I mean, it was your attack on Serbia that allowed me to get rumania, my 18th centre. and you sent your fleets back east in 1907, which meant that even if i hadnt got Sec and Ru, i would have eventually taken the MAO and then either marseilles or spain.
gramilaj (100 D)
18 Dec 10 UTC
@King You were well positioned on France to be a thorn in his side, and I could pick up ediwhenever I wanted, but it I had picked it up early on France gets three builds in some year, which killed my chances for stabbing him. It turns out I didn't stab, but you weren't attacking me, so those fleets were more valuable bringing pain to the French.

GG Frank, I'm amazed people didn't work to stop the solo, but I thought you had it in the bag eventually anyway. I was suprised Austria picked up the first open dot off me he could, I was totally into working with him to the end, but I was happy when that decision resulted in a powerhouse Turkey (as it often does). GG All, and way to move it along group B.

@Frank, I think 15 centers for an opponent is a clear line to abandon your dreams of growth.
figlesquidge (2131 D)

Sorry all for my poor play - at the end of the day it was my poor play as France that allowed Germany such an easy race to 18
Barn3tt (41969 D)

Wow, with a solo and a six a draw, there certainly is a lot riding on the last game.
Barn3tt (41969 D)

Kingdroid (219 D)
18 Dec 10 UTC
frank, i only reacted towards other's aggression to me. austria was going to keep pushing south, and I brought my fleets back East due to Russia's attack. And I figured you'd let me live for that Gram, but the failed convoy didn't make any sense either. I assume that you were Italy in the first game gram?

Well, way to stay alive for you. I blame it mostly on Russia. And partly on Austria. Russia made me have to turn around to protect my home SCs, and he also gave free SCs to Germany. Austria then started letting Germany walk right past him with no opposition. While I could have stopped Germany from taking Rum, (my mistake) I didn't see that he could've. I believe this was only a small mistake, because, due to Russia and AUstria's Idiocy, Germany was going to take an SC from France, if not from Austria to win.

Good game anyways, i can't say I'm disappointed with Austria's early game behavior, since it allowed me to go from almost dying early to being the second-most powerful country.
Kingdroid (219 D)
18 Dec 10 UTC
@Figle, you did fine, you made the right moves by allowing Italy to live, and by not attacking me. It is mostly the Eastern nation's fault that Germany had such an easy win.

Kingdroid (219 D)

Fair enough. It worked fine... If France hadn't been so inclined to getting my SCs, I probably would've bothered you instead, haha
gramilaj (100 D)

You also had more potential in bothering France, I could have covered all my SCs, France couldn't.

The last two should be tied for 6th, as opposed to tied with 5th.

So this makes the semi-final: trip, Gobba, IKE, Lando Calrissian, JesusPetry, Troodonte and The Czech.
I also wanted to say what A great game this last one was. Probably my favourite of the 3.

Czech - GREAT alliance. Although, I was a little annoyed when you ditched me in the east and left me to deal with Turkey and Russia on my own.

Troodonte - very good game. You had me very worried once you got Turkey into Bulgaria. I was very glad I was able to convince you to work with me vs. Germany. It spread you out enough that you couldn't defend me as well anymore. I'm not exactly sure how I was able to convince you although I asume it was Germany's size and the prospects of a 4 way draw. I am sorry I had to eliminate you from the draw. the reason I felt i had to was my deteriorating position in game and I knew another 3 way draw (after game 2 was done) would seal it for me. I tried to offer draws later but anlari wanted nothing to do with it. I also saw Italy's stalemate position and saw a very easy line for me to hold with you below it.

Anlari - Very well played. Had me worried for a while and I think you might have solo'd if Troodonte and I didn't temporarily take Berlin and Munich. Those were just distractions to get a better position vs. Russia. Once I saw the stalemate line I cared less about Warsaw and Moscow and more about maintaining the line below them.

JP - Great fight as Turkey. Wasn't sure I was going to be able to get you.

Overall, great round of games. I had a tone of fun with this and I can't wait until the next round. Congrats to everyone moving on.

Great 1st round Lando.
Congratulations for the 1st place.

In this game I made a lot of bad decisions in the last years...
I should have read better the board and notice that I wouldn't gaine much from attacking germany with Austria. I should have been worried about getting secure boarder with you... Germany was probably not going that far... but I figured that if I moved units to our boarder (specially Galicia) while you were pressuring germany you would find it agressive, come back and eventually give the solo to Germany...
Bad judgement from me and good for you ;)

Good game from anlari. Too bad you won't be moving to next round...

Jesus... Thanks for the early alliance and sorry for that stab... but I still think it was the right moment... I just think I did bad after that... :S

Congratz Lando, Jesus, TheCzech (and me :)) for moving to the next round.
Good luck guys.
